Chapter 481: Chapter 480: Backing Up

Lan County doesn’t have a direct train to Liao Province, so they have to go to the provincial city first before transferring. If everything goes well, they should arrive tomorrow morning.

Unsurprisingly, upon hearing their destination was Liao Province, Sun Guanghui imdiately packed a shoulder bag, insisting on joining them no matter what.

One can’t block the path of fate when it cos to relationships. Lin Nianhe didn’t refuse.

The last-minute addition of Sun Guanghui also prompted Lin Nianhe to be more cautious. This ti, she didn’t just leave Su Yuncheng a note, but asked Uncle Liu to call him out from the police outpost to honestly disclose her itinerary.

Upon hearing Lin Nianhe’s explanation, Su Yuncheng frowned, clearly worried about her hurried trip to Liao Province.

“It’s okay, Brother Yuncheng,” Lin Nianhe said with a light smile, “I previously t an auntie in the provincial city, her husband works at the Liao Province Railway Bureau, so if there’s any trouble, I can ask her for help.”

Su Yuncheng wasn’t willing to put his hopes on such an “acquaintance.” He said, “Wait a minute, I’ll go ask for leave.”

“What leave are you asking for? Do your job and don’t mix in.” Uncle Liu’s hand reached out from behind the gatehouse window, his rough fingertips pinching a piece of paper, “Girl, take this.”

Lin Nianhe subconsciously took it and opened it to see a phone number with the na Liu Aiguo written above it.

“Aiguo is my nephew, call him if you run into any trouble,” Uncle Liu said with a squint, sipping tea that Lin Nianhe gave him, with an air of nonchalance, “He works at the steel factory, he’s not very capable but has many friends. As long as you are within Liao Province, he can ensure your safety.”

“Okay then, thank you very much,” Lin Nianhe quickly secured the lifesaving paper, “Brother Yuncheng, you focus on your work. If it really doesn’t work out, I’ll call Dad. I’ll make sure everything will be okay.”

Su Yuncheng hesitated for a mont, then nodded, “Alright, I’ll have Sun Jun contact soone over there in a bit. If you encounter any issues, don’t act rashly and pay attention to your safety.”

“Okay.” Lin Nianhe agreed readily, her smile even lingering at the corner of her mouth.

Su Yuncheng nodded then turned to look at Sie Yufei standing aside.

Without waiting for him to speak, Sie Yufei said, “Don’t worry, Brother Cheng. It’s just a shrew, I’ll definitely protect Xiao He.”

Sie Yufei may seem unremarkable in the courtyard, that’s because his brothers are too dazzling. Outside of the courtyard, Youngest Master Sie can single-handedly take on four or five thugs.

Su Yuncheng didn’t ramble on further and sent Lin Nianhe and the three others onto the train.

Since they were in a hurry, they couldn’t get sleeper tickets and had to sit for four hours on the train to the provincial city. There, Sun Guanghui found his uncle who bought them tickets to Liao Province. The next available train was in the evening, so after dining at the State-Owned Restaurant and resting at a big auto shop, they eventually boarded the train when the night sky lowered its curtains.

The train was fairly crowded. They took a four-seater with Sie Yufei and Sun Guanghui sitting on the outside to prevent any passersby from bumping into the two ladies.

Throughout the journey, Sun Guanghui had a furrowed brow, clearly very worried about Wang Shui.

Lin Nianhe took a sip of water and reassured him, “Don’t worry, Sister Shui isn’t the impulsive type. Rather than fighting, she’s more likely to go to the residents’ committee or her dad’s workplace to complain.”

Sun Guanghui shook his head, less optimistic, “You might not know, but Shui’s step-aunt’s younger brother is the workshop director at the food factory. Shui’s dad works under her uncle. Even if Shui is willing to risk her dad’s job to file a complaint, it won’t end in her favor… This issue won’t be so easily resolved.”

“It’s all about connections,” Sie Yufei brazenly leaned back in his seat, legs crossed, “When it cos to connections, I’ve never been afraid of anyone!”

Youngest Master Sie is no boaster – indeed, when it cos to connections, his uncles and aunts are scattered all over the country.

Lin Nianhe gave him a sidelong glance, “Don’t show off, it’s not that complicated.”

“Oh? What’s your plan then?”

“No plan,” Lin Nianhe pulled up her collar, burying most of her face underneath her army coat, “Let’s sleep a bit.”

Her deanor was far too serene, not at all as if she was going to support Wang Shui, but rather as if heading out for a picnic.

The remaining three exchanged glances.

Their understanding of Lin Nianhe told them she definitely had a grand plan.

But they really couldn’t fathom what she would do.

After a prolonged silence, Wen Lan withdrew her attention, cracked her fingers with a ‘ka ka’ sound, and muttered to herself, “What’s so hard to handle? Beat them up, and if they don’t concede, beat them up again, until they submit!”

Sie Yufei’s eyes sparkled, “Exactly, that’s what I’m thinking too! If we’re short on people, a phone call is all it takes to bring a truckload over, all top-notch guys for sure!”

Sun Guanghui’s head ached listening to their conversation.

The night passed without further talk, and early next morning the train arrived at Liao Province Xi City Station.

Xi City Steel Factory is one of the best in the country, and the local construction is much better than the vast majority of small cities.

The four of them had just stepped off the train when they were greeted by Sun ManCang, who had co to pick them up.

Sun ManCang approached them and heaved a sigh without uttering a word.

“Which hospital is Xiaoxiao in? How is she doing now?” asked Lin Nianhe.

“Her arm’s been reattached, but she hit her head and is still a bit out of it,” Sun ManCang forced a bitter smile, “We dare not leave Xiaoxiao alone, and with Sister Shui’s child and wife at ho, Shui’s worried Chen Daya might cause trouble there, so she asked Brother Qian to take leave and stay ho with his sister-in-law.”

Lin Nianhe understood Wang Shui’s paranoid state very well. With only Qian Guozhu and Wang Damin as the n in their house, and a ton of people to protect, they were really stretched thin. Otherwise, given Wang Shui’s ticulous nature, she definitely would have co to the station to et them.

Lin Nianhe gave a nod and asked Sun ManCang to lead them to the hospital.

They hurried off without making any detours to buy gifts, heading straight for the hospital ward.

Inside the hospital, Wang Shui had just taken Wang Xiaoxiao to the toilet. Her complexion was very pale, with dark circles under her eyes—clearly, she hadn’t slept in days.

Seeing Lin Nianhe and Wen Lan, Wang Shui’s eyes imdiately welled up with tears.

“Ah, silly girl.”

Wen Lan mumbled, and wrapped an arm around Shui, patting her on the back twice with a slap, causing Wang Shui’s tears to fall freely.

Lin Nianhe pulled out a handkerchief and stuffed it into her hands, smiling a little, “Don’t fret, we’re all here now.”

Wang Shui felt a lump in her throat, leaning limply into Wen Lan’s embrace as she looked at Lin Nianhe and nodded, “Yeah.”

She glanced quickly at Sun Guanghui behind them, her cheeks slightly reddening.

Feeling soone has her back was tear-jerking, and Wang Shui, holding the handkerchief, let tears drip down.

Lin Nianhe pinched her cheek, then turned to ask Wang Xiaoxiao, “Xiaoxiao, how are you feeling?”

Wang Xiaoxiao’s face still bore the mark of a handprint. She pulled a grin at Lin Nianhe, gasped from pain but still chuckled, “Sister Nianhe, I’m fine, really. Please convince my sister, I’m okay, she doesn’t believe .”

The girl was like a little sun, always shining with laughter.

Lin Nianhe tenderly rubbed her little head and took out a White Rabbit creamy candy from her pocket, “Eat so candy, it’ll make the pain go away.”

“Yeah!”

Wang Xiaoxiao answered, and wary of her dizziness, she didn’t nod but sucked on the candy and leaned on the head of the bed, looking worriedly at her sister.

“Sister Shui, let’s step outside for a chat.”

Lin Nianhe gestured towards the chin of Wang Shui.

Wen Lan patted Wang Shui once more, “Right, let Xiaoxiao get so sleep, let’s talk outside!”

Wang Shui almost didn’t catch her breath.

She coughed twice, holding onto Wen Lan’s arm and stared into her eyes earnestly, “Xiao Lan, stay here and look after Xiaoxiao for , I… I don’t trust anyone else.”

She needed to give Wen Lan sothing to do, fearing Sister Lan might just pick up a stool and go take revenge for Wang Xiaoxiao herself.
