Half of the Su siblings were thoroughly enjoying Etienne’s little disciplinary session. It had been a very long ti since soone managed to get one over Scarlet.
Carolyn in particular was enjoying watching Scarlet be all tongue tied. She had finally t an opponent in the family she could not take down.
It was pretty funny to watch her squirming.
"Last on my list," Etienne continued, "is how you reacted once you identified the culprit behind your attack. You could have and you should have instructed your RGB officers to arrest him. If not them then your guards but instead, you used your ntal strength to drag him out and question him in front of everyone."
Scarlet held back the response, "That was not a cri, how is it wrong?"
"mbers of the royal family are not allowed to expose the full extent of their capabilities to the commoners." Markay chid in.
He waved his phone in the air.
"My parents, err, the emperor and empress are also watching us right now. Video call, they were worried and sort of in the sa boat as grandpa Etienne." he added.
Everyone lowered their heads and bowed in the direction of the phone.
The video call turned into a hologram one so that everyone could see them vividly.
"Ease up everyone, we are here as family mbers not emperor and empress." the empress told them.
They raised their heads and then silence. No one was saying anything anymore, not even Etienne.
"Continue Etienne, I will jump in if I have sothing to say. I like where you were heading." The emperor said.
All eyes turned back to Etienne Wu and Scarlet sighed slowly.
He opened his mouth and said, "Uhm, like I was saying, it is of utmost importance that commoners cannot guess our levels of ntal strength.
You should always rember that those who seek to overthrow our family will never cease to exist. We cannot make everyone in the empire happy with all of our decisions all the ti.
If the enemy knows how strong we are, they will send soone more powerful than we are to deal with us if they decide to rebel or kill us."
"Right now, people on star net are debating on whether your ntal strength is C, B or A level. Your enemies are watching and doing the sa." Markay jumped in and said. "If you have enemies that is." he added.
"If they are to send soone to deal with you, they will dispatch of a S level assasin." The emperor chid in.
"I didn’t know this." Scarlet said.
"You would if Esong took his ho duties as serious as he takes his cha warrior duties." Emtt comnted.
"So should I give up my cha warrior duties then father?" Esong retorted.
"That is not what your father ans." Emory rushed in to add.
"We are going off track, let’s co back to the main issues at hand." Etienne banged on the floor with the walking cane Scarlet had given him.
Not that he needed it but he used it anyway anyway and so did many of his noble friends now. It was like a trend among the seniors.
"We have all made that point clear and Scarlet understands it. I should talk about the last issue which is her use of ntal strength on a commoner in public."
"Yeah, that’s bad." Beord said.
Everyone nodded or mumbled yes, agreeing with him.
Etienne pointed to Esong and Markay and said, "They can get away with it because they are a cha warriors so when they are violent in public everyone assus it’s for a good reason."
"It always is." Esong practically growled the words out.
"Totally." Markay added.
The Su brothers raised their eyes and shared a few looks rembering the dead Atlas.
Carolyn too was doubtful of Markay’s defense of himself given the stories about him which had baptized him the na the prince of death among the commoners.
Was it really always for a good reason?
"I am not accusing you of anything Esong. I am making a point." Etienne told him. "When you do it, nobody thinks much but when she does it, the commoners imdiately jump to mber of the royal family abusing her authority. That is closely followed now by governor abusing her power and careless cha king’s wife not knowing her limits."
He touched his terminal and showed them three trending articles with those exact titles.
"Everything that you do in public is closely watched dear and while you have millions of people that love and adore you in the empire. You also have millions that don’t and they would love to see you being ruined." The empress said.
Etienne sighed and finally took a seat. He felt as if he had been speaking for a entire day.
Cecily quickly handed him a bottle of water, Scarlet’s crystal water which was reserved for the family.
After taking a sip, he looked at the couple which was the center of attention.
"Now you can defend yourselves." he told them.
Scarlet clenched her hands and said, "I am sorry for a lot of things but using my strength on that man.....I am not sorry."
So of the Su’s groaned. Her stubbornness never failed to make an appearance and shine through even at the wrong ti.
"I support my sister." Adler declared.
"Of course you do." Carolyn said sarcastically.
Fey and Elroy giggled while Beord slapped Adler lightly on the back.
He gave him a thumbs up. It was expected that he would stand beside her. She was his favorite person in the family, it was loud and clear.
Scarlet was honestly surprised. Was Adler blindly loyal to her that he would support her through thick and thin or was this a Su’s vs Wu’s situation.
"Let explain myself." Adler added. "I have watched my sister invest her ti and money into food research. She risked her life by going into that forest on her own to find edible foods.
She spends sleepless nights in her herb garden and lab searching for ways to make food grow faster so that everyone in the Sunstar will never have to starve again. What she has sacrificed for this purpose, none of us has.
The effrontery of that bastard to take sothing she worked hard on and use it like that.....it’s criminal." he grimaced as he explained this with a pained look on his face that surprised everyone.
He wondered if none of them recognized the sacrifices she had made for so ungrateful people to live good lives.
"I say we should change the rules now. If the people don’t appreciate food, let’s ration it. Five tomatoes per household for a week, one bag of rice for a year or a month. One loaf of bread per week for every family."
Soone gasped.
Cecily held her head as if she was going to faint and Etienne caught her. His wife ate one loaf of bread by herself for three days and this lunatic was saying one per week for an entire family.
"And when it cos to milk, one bottle a day for each family. Let them dilute it with gallons of water if they want everyone to drink."
"Shut him up, soone shut him up." The emperor yelled.
