Scarlet found her son clinging on to a pillar that led to a balcony on the third floor for his dear life. If he was not careful, he would soon slide and fall backwards.
At the sa ti, in a mont of great fear, she and Esong wasted no ti in racing up to bring the little mischievous boy down. He flew while she climbed the wall without any sort of support whatsoever.
She used her grim reaper power but everyone assud that she was sohow using ntal strength. The guards were wowed and so were the servants.
As for the family mbers who had stayed behind to guard the door while others went around looking for Justin, they had followed the couple as well.
Their jaws dropped when they saw the boy so high up. How in the world had he managed to get up there in such a short ti? And how had nobody seen him?
Esong got to him before she did and he picked up their son by the back of his shirt like a mother cat picking up a kitten.
Even Justin knew that he was in trouble as soon as his feet touched the ground. Both of his parents were staring him down with similar looks on their faces.
He pouted and his eyes filled up with tears.
"Don’t even think about it." Esong told him.
Justin turned his big grey eyes to Scarlet. Mommy was soft hearted and nicer, she would not punish him.
He stuck his bottom lip out even more raised his arms, asking to be carried.
"Oooh, not today buddy." Scarlet told him.
If Justin was faking his reaction before, it suddenly turned real with Scarlet’s words and the little one burst into tears.
"Ma....mama....mama." he cried out.
Scarlet lted into a puddle of goo, her resolve broke down as her heart ached as if an arrow had been stabbed into it.
"Baby." she rushed to lift him up and comfort him.
Esong on the other hand was not buying it and he wanted to discipline his son imdiately. What he had done was dangerous. What if he fell, broke his neck and wasn’t found in the nick of ti? d beds could not resurrect the dead. Scarlet coddled the boy too damn much.
"What were you thinking?" He exploded, loudly in rage.
Justin shrunk his head in Scarlet’s neck.
"Look at ." he said in a fierce voice.
Scarlet was the one who looked at him while Justin tried his best to bury himself in Scarlet’s chest and cried louder.
"Don’t shout at him." she told him.
"He did sothing stupid." Esong retorted.
Scarlet answered calmly, "Yes he did, but that’s not how we are going to discipline him."
"I agree with your wife Esong, don’t shout at him." Emory chid in.
"Do you even know what he has done?" Esong asked his mother.
His voice was still carrying anger.
"Have you considered his reasons for doing what he did." she asked back.
He was angry at his son but she was angry with him. His father had never berated him like this so why would he do that to his own son?
ga looked around and noticed all the nosy servants who had bee nowhere to be found when her grandson was climbing the wall.
"Let’s go inside and handle this privately." Emtt suggested.
He was calm as always when he spoke. One would think Justin had climbed a few steps and not a wall.
Scarlet turned around and walked back into the castle, rubbing Justin’s back the whole way and doing her best to calm the little one down.
Inside, she took him the living room and sat down then she wiped his tears away gently.
"It’s okay baby."
It was on the tip of Esong’s tongue to say that nothing was okay but the hostile warning glares from his mother, grandmother and mother-in-law told him to stay put.
Everyone else gathered around and found different spots to sit and wait patiently for Justin to calm down.
"It’s okay, just don’t do it again. You scared mommy and daddy with what you did, that’s why daddy is angry." Scarlet told him.
She held his sad face in both hands and rubbed his cheeks. "You won’t do that again, right?"
He nodded.
"What do we say when we have done sothing to apologize for?"
"Sorry." Justin opened his mouth and said in a small voice.
"Very good baby." she kissed his cheek and hugged him. "Now go say sorry to daddy too."
Justin slowly got down from the chair with his head lowered and he walked towards his father. When he reached where Esong was, he looked up at his father with shiny hopeful eyes.
His small arms reached up and held on to Esong’s thigh.
"Daddy," he said in a small voice.
Esong sighed and he smiled. He could not stay angry for long at his son just as he couldn’t with the mother. He would have to handle his sons discipline in a different way.
He bent down and lifted Justin up.
"I know buddy. You were just worried because you heard mommy was injured, right?"
He nodded, his head moved up and down slowly as if it was too heavy for him.
"I understand, but you cannot do what you did just because you want to see us. You should always wait patiently with your uncles or aunts and the rest of the family."
Again, he nodded. He wrapped his small arms around Esong’s neck and slept on his chest.
Soone snapped a picture and Esong glared at them. It was Markay who was grinning from ear to ear. The cha king was big old softie.
"Now that all this is settled can we discuss the ramifications of your little authority display earlier on. What in the world where you both thinking?"
Emtt Wu was a quiet man, often soft spoken but he always knew how to get his point across. Today was not a day for soft speeches however as he raised his voice.
