With all his might, Koul fought to peel the shadow’s hand from his neck. But it was just too strong. Almost as if it was glued there.

"What the.... fu-ck.. dyou want?" Koul struggled to let out.

Veins had lined his forehead and neck. And as he spoke, a puff of saliva burst from his mouth.

The shadow, built like a tanker with a bulky figure and bulging muscles, simply gazed down at Koul.

Since he was a shadow, his eyes couldn’t really be seen. So it was hard for Koul to catch any emotions or reactions from him.

He said nothing, simply strangling Koul. It seed as if his goal was just to strangle life out of Koul.

Koul’s legs wriggled. They thrashed about as he struggled. t with no way out, he thought to scream for help.

But, as if the shadow could feel and predict Koul’s next moves, he tightened his grip further.

Koul couldn’t even let out a word.

The more the mont stretched, the more suffocated he got. His hands slowly lost strength and slid down to the bed.

His wide open eyes of fear and desperation slowly narrowed. The color in them seed to be fading as he stared helpless at the shadow.

Life was leaving him.

[Ding! Host is being subjected to critical damage. Host will die in 10... 9... 8... 7... ]

Slowly, his eyes turned dull, wiped off every color. His eyelids drew near till they finally closed.

[Host has died.]

_ _ _ _ _ _ _

Like the miracles that had always brought him back from the dead and rewound ti, Koul returned with a puff of big breath.

His eyes fluttered open. And just in ti, he saw the shadow erging from his body.

Koul’s eyes widened in shock as he watched this.

It ca from inside ?!

But he knew he didn’t have ti to wonder about anything. He had just died and returned, marking a total of 9 deaths.

Co rain, co sun, he knew he couldn’t afford to die so easily again.

Before the shadow could fully erge from his body and transform, Koul grabbed it by the neck and—

SLAM!

He rolled and slamd the shadow to the bed.

Without giving it any room, he joined in his other hand and started strangling the shadow just the way he strangled him to death.

"Die! Die! Die! Die!"

Koul was relentless. He focused all his strength into his hands and tightened further each passing second.

The shadow wasn’t fully out of his body yet. His lower half, precisely from his waist side, the shadow still stuck to him.

It was yet to fully peel away before Koul hurled it and trapped it down.

Just like Koul had desperately fought and struggled to free himself from the shadow’s grip the first ti, the shadow now fought.

He grabbed Koul’s arms, and fought to tear it away from him. But Koul was already blinded by rage and determination.

He was set on killing the shadow.

The shadow couldn’t break free. No matter how tight he gripped Koul’s arm, Koul didn’t relent.

His face was tight with fierce determination, his teeth gritted as he squeezed the shadow’s throat with all his strength.

After a while, the shadow was weakened. His hands slumped down and his legs stopped thrashing. Then soon, he gave up the ghost.

Even while he was already dead, Koul didn’t stop strangling. He was too scared to let go.

He continued strangling for a while more till he finally believed the shadow was indeed dead.

Koul retracted his hands, and pulled back. He panted softly atop the shadow, his chest mounting and falling.

Seeing so part of the shadow still sticking to him, he was creeped out. He quickly rose and pulled away.

When he did, the part that was sticking to him seed to peel off to complete the shadow on the bed.

Koul got down hastily from the bed, and stared bewildered at the dead shadow on his bed. He was in the full shape of a human after the remaining part peeled from him.

PHEW!

Koul breathed out. He rested his back against a wall and slowly slid down to a sit.

What just happened?

He grabbed his head, computing things in his head to find a ground. His mind was reeling.

He’d never heard of anything like this.

A shivering cold gripped him as he thought back to how the shadow literally ca out from his body.

He clutched himself, shivering.

How is that possible?

The confusion was deep, but suddenly, a thought struck him.

It can’t be!

He threw a glance at the shadow on his bed, eyes widening slowly in horror.

Could that be.... the real Koul?

Koul’s fear mounted. The possibility that had just co to him wasn’t out of place.

After all, the ti he t Koul’s soul, he was literally a shadow as well.

With a long frustrated sigh, Koul dipped his head. He buried his face into his knees.

Just what is this misfortune that trails my path? He thought.

He thought if his previous life had ended that bad, shouldn’t this life at least be a bit better?

Surely he had been granted transmigration because his previous life was cut short, so what were all these frustrating situations?

A king who can’t even enjoy himself, tsk!

A king with no peace of mind, sigh!

He raised his gaze to look at the shadow again.

Could it really be him?

Koul had no other way to explain such a thing. Aside from it being the real Koul that had finally co out, he didn’t know how else to put it.

He concluded it was him.

He rose from the ground. Then slowly, he started walking toward the shadow on his bed.

When he reached, he leaned over to get a proper look at it.

With no face, how can I tell?

Koul examined the shadow, eyes focused intently as if, if he peered hard enough, he would actually see through it.

But, at once—

FLASH!

The shadow’s eyes flashed open.

Koul’s heart dropped instantly. He could see his life now hanging by a thread.
