At that mont, as the katana was re inches away from hitting his figure, Jett suddenly turned around and raised his hand.
And, he smiled?
Unfortunately, the real Jett could not see through the eyes of his clones, so he had no idea what was going on.
But, whatever it was, it was taking too long.
He needed to get rid of his clone, without revealing it was a clone.
As Jett commanded his clone to fall backward into the water, Ren’s katana nearly missed the clone’s body, jabbing at the air right before him.
*SPLASH*
Upon seeing his target fall into the water, Ren imdiately jumped forward to the other side of the surfboard and peered below.
But... no one was there!?
Before he could even comprehend anything, an angry voice sounded from behind him.
"DID YOU GET HIM!?"
Using all of her strength to climb onto Jett’s rock surfboard, Jade pushed her hair backward and glanced ahead with an expectant expression.
However, her expression rapidly transford when Ren’s shaky voice sounded.
"h-he’s gone."
Standing up on the board, she raised her eyebrows and questioned.
"What do you an he’s gone!?"
Before Ren could even respond, Kim’s voice sounded from behind.
"It ans he’s not here. No longer prese-"
"I KNOW WHAT GONE ANS!"
While Ren still confusedly examined the water before the board, Jade angrily marched toward him and muttered.
"What are we going to do now...? You needed that money..."
Ren could only silently look at the ocean; however, just like his dream, Jett was...gone.
Grabbing his shoulder, Jade whispered while comfortably patting him.
"We’ll find a way to afford the treatnt...we can’t give up for your sister’s sake."
"..."
Like soone trying to find a needle in a haystack, Ren simply watched the ocean before suddenly jumping forward, off the surfboard, and into the water.
Reaching her hand out, Jade yelled out confusedly,
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?"
Turning away to face her mid-jump, Ren let a soft smile appear on his face as he answered.
"He has to be in here, sowhere, right?"
*SPLASH*
Back on the island, where the crabawler lay, the four imperial students simultaneously engaged the beast.
Even with four D-ranked students and over five non-enlightened students, a C-ranked dungeon beast should be, at the very least, able to put up a fight.
Yet...it didn’t.
The crabawler remained still like a statue, allowing the students to surround it from all sides.
Sure, its two remaining tentacles were swiftly flying around, shooting small crabs and poison balls, but its eight legs remained still.
That was the effect of Ren’s first-stage sword ability.
As Liam used every last bit of his mana, creating countless balls of light and sending them flying at the crabawler, Charlotte suddenly yelled.
"GET HIM!"
Unlike Liam and Xero, Charlotte had brought her entire team to the island, giving her a four-person army.
Upon hearing their leader’s words, the Worldly students didn’t even hesitate and ran forward.
They were intelligent enough to understand that if they followed Charlotte’s words and attacked Liam instead of the crabawler, they wouldn’t receive any individual contribution.
Yet, they still did it.
That was leadership.
Charlotte had sacrificed reaching the island earlier than everyone else to bring them with her, so they were simply paying back the favor.
Raising their different weapons, they scread out and blocked Liam’s vision every ti he attempted to retreat farther back.
Controlling dozens of light balls required a massive amount of focus and energy, so when four Wordly students charged at Liam, his attacks imdiately began to waver.
So of his light balls didn’t even hit the crabawler, flying past it and into the ocean.
Gritting his teeth, Liam gazed forward, where the frozen Xero stood
Although Liam was tempted to ask for help, he ultimately decided not to.
If he were seen teaming up with another Imperial student against four Wordly students, his reputation would drastically fall.
Finally, as Liam diverted his attention away from the crabawler and now sent his balls of light at the incoming Worldly students, Xero made his move.
In his hand, a cool-blue trident, made entirely of ice, materialized from pure air.
Then, another and another...and another trident appeared, lying behind him in stacks on a layer of ice he had created above the sand.
Cocking the trident back as if he were throwing a football, Xero surged his hand forward, releasing the ice-blue weapon at the crabawler.
However...it didn’t even co close to hitting the two remaining tentacles.
Instead, the three tips embedded themselves in the beast’s body.
*CRACK*
A mont later, the ice trident within the crabawler suddenly cracked, and above the three holes where the trident had embedded itself, a layer of ice appeared.
Those layers of ice then slowly started spreading upward toward the area where the crabawler’s tentacles were connected to its main body.
Charlotte, with no elent to directly destroy the tentacles, whipped out a bow, which had been resting on her back, and rapidly nocked an arrow.
During all that commotion, only one figure had remained still.
Ironically, this figure was the one closest to the two tentacles.
Still floating above where the three tangled tentacles had used to be, Evangel stared down at a small and sword-sized hole in the crabawler’s body.
After another mont of staring, she regained her composure and flew toward the backside of the crabawler.
Then, without stopping, she flew straight through one of the tentacles, her snow-white sword in front of her.
*SLASH*
Distracted by all the attacks from the ground, the crabawler’s tentacle couldn’t react in ti, and was rcilessly chopped in half.
As she continued flying forward, a streak of purple liquid flowed out of the dead tentacle as it dropped to the ground.
Just as Xero’s ice reached the second tentacle, a gold-tipped arrow plunged itself within it, making the tentacle co to a halt.
Then, a mont later, Xero’s ice covered the point where the tentacle was connected to the main body.
All of that was perfect for Liam, who had escaped the four Worldly students and managed to fire one last ball of light.
As Liam’s light ball hit the tentacle, it wasn’t chopped off.
*BOOM*
It simply...exploded.
A large cloud of grey smoke appeared around the area, blocking everyone’s view, and hundreds of small pieces of skin from the crabawler flew everywhere.
An elental reaction
The combination of Liam’s light elent and Xero’s ice led to a combustion-type reaction.
As the smoke disappeared, the last and final tentacle had been destroyed completely, split into thousands of small pieces.
A huge crater lay in the crabawler’s body at the point where the tentacle used to connect to the main body.
Slowly tipping over, the crabawler’s massive body began to fall to the right, casting a massive shadow on the beach.
*BANG*
As its limp body hit the sand, the ground suddenly shook, throwing everyone backward and even so onto the floor.
The exam was over.
...
...
...
Gasping for air and feeling my heart race faster than an F1 car, I desperately clutched my chest and looked around.
But...all I could see was darkness.
"w-what th-"
Before I could finish my sentence, my entire body began uncontrollably jerking back and forth, as if I were having a seizure.
My head ached with pain, preventing from even thinking clearly.
Whenever I thought of sothing new, the mory of the last thought would disappear.
As my heart burned with pain, feeling as if it were about to break out of my chest, I inadvertently opened my mouth to scream.
"..."
However, no sound ca.
Pure and utter silence.
Gathering enough strength, I raised my hand and touched the right side of my face, feeling a sticky and gooey liquid.
Blood...I had blood.
Although the thought should have made scared, I was extrely relieved upon feeling it.
It was proof...proof that I was alive and existed.
At that mont, a sudden voice sounded in the dark and silent void.
"Open your eyes, Jett."
Not caring about the source of the voice, I imdiately commanded my brain to open my eyelids...but my vision remained dark.
I needed to get out, escape.
A few monts later, the voice echoed once again, this ti in a more annoyed tone.
"No, open them."
Suddenly, a bright flash enveloped , forcing to close my eyes, and when I reopened them...I was back.
Above , I could see the light-blue sky, devoid of any clouds, and the bright yellow sun shining down on .
The field...I had returned
As a gust of wind brushed against my face, cooling down, I slowly raised myself off the ground, finding myself face-to-face with a familiar figure.
The unknown professor was standing right in front of , his two eyes locked onto my figure.
In a sowhat passive-aggressive tone, he spoke while looking down at the clipboard in his hands.
"Student Jett, you have been "killed" during practical. If it were real life, you would have died."
"50% of the total individual points you earned during the exam will be deducted. Please consider this lesson for you to learn from."
