Silence.

An eerie, stuffy silence filled the surroundings, only broken by the skittering sounds of insects.

The eye of the person behind the door widened to the point that it seed it might pop out any mont.

The next second—

Clank

The door opened so fast that its hinges groaned under the strain.

The view before them changed.

Evelyn felt her eyes twitch.

’What the fuck is this? How is this place present in a slum?’

She couldn’t believe it. Her eyes shifted from what was present in front of her to the young man she was standing with.

He was really full of surprises!

Elias could feel her stare, but he didn’t glance at her. His eyes stayed forward steadily as his face sank into a blank expression.

’Act.’

"Please forgive us for not identifying soone esteed like you," the knight spoke as he bowed, with his hands pressed against his chest.

"No worries," Elias answered, his eyes moving towards the hallway in front. It was a different contrast from the place they were standing in. He could see rows and rows of knights stationed on both sides of the hall, with torches burning next to them. "It’s my fault that I ca here. I should have entered from the city’s entrance, but I was quite curious about how it is here."

Elias lied through his teeth. He didn’t know how to enter this place from the city.

Elias knew that they had two ways of entrance, one being in the city and the other being in the slums.

And naturally, he didn’t know how to enter from the city entrance or why he would have co here. He did know that it was situated in so gambling house. But didn’t know which.

’It’s not my fault that I didn’t know. Even in the novel itself, it was never stated where the city entrance was.’

"Should I guide you, my lord?" the knight spoke, breaking through Elias’s train of thought. "It pains that I see you standing in a filthy place like this."

’Top-notch bootlicker, I see.’

Elias smiled.

"Yes, you may."

The knight nodded as if feeling blessed. He stood up and started to walk.

"Please follow ."

"Hm," Elias humd as he entered the hall. The air changed dramatically as the sll of the filth and feces disappeared.

A nice sll filled his nose as he continued to follow the knight, with Evelyn also following behind, being silent, fortunately.

And as they reached a few steps away, the door closed with a groaning sound, locking them inside the confines of the place they were in.

Creakkkkk

"Wow, nice," Evelyn muttered as the knight left, closing the door behind. "You are really full of surprises. I didn’t know you were this famous. And what was your na?"

She punched her fist into her palm.

"Ah, Kade Blunt."

"That’s not my na," Elias replied as he took his seat on a comfortable sofa. His eyes road around as he took in the room they were in.

A floor-to-ceiling window with one-way see-through glass was present before them, focusing on a huge Colosseum-like ring.

It was huge! Huge enough to make Elias feel small.

However, it wasn’t empty.

People filled the rows of seats, drinking and screaming. It was quite palpable that they were waiting for sothing.

’It would start in a few monts.’

Elias muttered as his eyes shifted in the room.

The room was usual-looking, nice, and elegant. It quite extravagantly showed that the person present there was a VVIP.

The sll, the dim light of the chandelier, and everything made one feel relaxed; it made one feel calm, apart from the view they were getting.

The Colosseum!

The thing that was quite the opposite of what the room looked like.

"Then why the hell are you being treated like a VVIP?" Evelyn asked, putting the brake on his thoughts while she downed a glass of wine. "I could taste the richness, mmh!"

"I will tell you in a few minutes," Elias answered, his eyes still staring at the huge-ass Colosseum. "And would you stop talking?"

"I am not talking. It’s called questioning, which I am doing because I am curious. Also, I am going to save your ass if sothing fucks up in whatever this place is." She muttered, pouring herself another glass. Downing it, she spoke up. "Just in case you think sobody would listen. Keep in mind that I am only talking when I know no one is present near us."

"What about the attendant outside the door?"

"She can’t hear us," Evelyn simply stated.

"Still don’t talk. I don’t want things to go awry."

"Ok, ok." She sighed as if looking at a kid before gulping down her wine.

Gulp, gulp.

The sound of gulping echoed, but it couldn’t move Elias’s mind from the anxiety he was feeling.

’They know now.’

Elias knew that he was exposing his face sowhere he shouldn’t, but he had to!

It was important for Elias to co here. The reason was never money; it was sothing that could help him elevate his weakness.

"Whoo," he exhaled, closing his eyes, before opening them once again. His body relaxed, sinking into the sofa as he inhaled.

"Hnn."

His throat bobbed.

Gulp

Elias felt the dryness in his mouth and the roughness of his Adam’s apple bobbing. His back felt wet. His fingers fidgeted unconsciously as Elias’ vision narrowed at the Colosseum in the view.

The thought of what was going to happen next filled his head.

’Don’t think about unnecessary things.’

Elias paced himself.

Ba-dump!

’It doesn’t matter if they do know now. Because at the end, no matter what and no matter how, I have to et him.’

Elias knew that he had to expose himself to everyone present in the Colessum. He had to do it because that was the only way he could think of eting Kade.

Even though this place had a rule that nobody was supposed to talk about anything that happened here, or they would face the worst consequences.

However, the risk of identity getting exposed was a dreadful thing, considering everyone here was powerful and part of sothing way bigger. Sothing that Elias didn’t want to face now.

The people who were enjoying were oblivious to the truth. The alcohol, the enjoynt they were getting, was nothing but a part of a big plan made by the ones running this place.

And to enter this place, an invitation was required, which naturally Elias didn’t have. So, he used the owner’s na of this place itself.

How else was he going to enter?

And naturally, for ambition this big, where reaching one person should be much more powerful, Elias was ready for his identity to be exposed.

He was ready for everyone here to know that Elias, the baron of the Varen barony, had co here.

He was ready for all of it.

For everyone, every single one present here was going to be killed!

’I just have to make sure that nobody rembers I was here.’
