’Sowhere we will not be interrupted?’ The words carried a strange weight.
"This is far enough, state whatever you have to say, I have other things to do," I said, stopping a few steps away from her.
A glint flickered through her eyes, before she forced a smile that disappeared as soon as it ca. "Sure." Irene swallowed, walking closer to .
"It’s about Seraphina. Now that the witches are without a queen, everything has beco disorganised, and there is no plan to return ho soon. Seraphina is our only ho as she will be the future queen of the witches." She paused studying my expression.
I folded my hands behind my back, and my expression remained the sa. "And how does this relate to ?"
She took another step closer. "Seraphina is having problems with awakening her inheritance and the ancestors’ mories, without this the witches’ situation would beco dire."
"I still don’t see how it is related to ," I said coldly.
I wasn’t the person she should have discussed this with, although it was sad to hear of their situation, but I could feel the blaring danger under her distress.
"The reason the witches had ambushed you and Alpha Damon in the witches’ realm was because Alpha Damon had the chosen’s magic inside his heart. The heart holds a reviving power to the witches..." Her voice grew lower.
"And now that you are here, only your blood can help to awaken Seraphina’s inheritance. Are you willing to help the witches?" Her question sounded more of a threat than a plea.
"My blood? Just my blood?" I stepped closer to her, my eyes flickering to a shade of purple.
She swallowed, then nodded her head. "The blood from your heart."
’Blood from my heart? Seraphina is Alaric’s mate, I don’t mind giving her my blood.’
"Do you think it is as easy as she said? If I’m right, the awakening of the witch’s inheritance requires a sacrifice, although your blood could work, but who knows if they won’t get greedy and rip your heart out?" Layla said in my head, growling in protest.
"They can’t harm , Layla, you don’t have to worry about it. Damon needs all the help he can get, and if Seraphina can awaken her powers, she would be of great help in the upcoming battle." I replied through the mindlink.
"But don’t let your guards down, I don’t trust her," Layla growled one last ti before prowling around in my head.
My gaze t Irene’s. "I can give you the blood, it’s no big deal. Co with , let’s visit Seraphina and prepare for the ceremony."
I turned my back on her and headed for the castle. Suddenly, sothing sliced through the air, aiming straight at my back. However, sothing burst out of the ground, followed by a bone-cracking noise and a painful groan.
I turned around slowly, and a black dagger oozing with purple energy was just an inch away from piercing through my chest.
The tip of the blade dripped with red liquid, and the tallic scent of blood filled the air. I followed the blood up to Irene’s hand, and then to her upper body, vines pierced through her chest, arms, and legs, her eyes opened wide in horror.
"How... is... this... possible?... I almost...su...ceeded." She gasps for air.
My eyes burned purple with a fiery ring in their depth. "How foolish of you?" I drawled. "I thought you experienced what I did in the witches’ realm when you all tried to take Damon’s heart." I clicked my tongue in distaste.
A glint flickered through my eyes, and at that mont, Irene’s eyes turned to a fearful one.
"No..." before she could say any more words, another vine pierced through her head. Then all the vines retracted and she fell on the ground like a rag doll. Her blood pooled underneath her, her eyes grew cold yet they remained open.
My hand trembled slightly beside . ’I just killed soone.’
I let out a deep sigh, I only defended myself, she tried to take my life at first.
Just then, the snapping sound of twigs echoed through the silent night. My head flew imdiately in the direction, but all I saw was the back of a woman, running towards the castle in horror. And I didn’t need to think much about it to know that she was a witch.
"Why do I sll trouble?" I muttered under my breath.
I clasped my hands behind and glanced over my shoulder staring at the corpse, with a flick of my hand, a golden vine slithered from the ground and wrapped around Irene’s corpse.
I walked slowly towards the castle and the vine carried her corpse in the air behind .
’Since the witches wanted trouble, I’ll give them one. I’m going to warn only this once.’
Gasps echoed through the air the mont the werewolves and witches saw and the corpse behind .
The witches’ eyes burned red the mont they saw the corpse of their sister.
"What is the aning of this?" One of the witches blocked my path, her hands shimring with magic.
I tilted my head slightly, my gaze boring through her soul.
"What did you do to Irene?!" With her outburst ca a wave of magic hurled towards . With a stare from , a swarm of butterflies appeared in front of , then they turned into a ball of golden magic.
The collision of our magic sent debris flying. And when the dust settled, the witch was lying flat on the ground, but her chest rose up and down.
I glared at the other witches, and they all stepped back in fear, but their hands still shimred with magic.
I continued walking, and just as I was about to enter the castle. A figure stood in front of , her green eyes burned with fiery, like an erald covered in flas.
Seraphina’s hands clenched tightly as her eyes fell on the corpse behind . "Ember, what have you done?!" Fire engulfed her, and then she charged at .
