Theo blinked. His lips parted soundlessly, like he was trying to form words but forgot how to speak.

Damon stood stiff beside , trying and failing to hide the smug smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

I crossed my arms over my chest, tilting my head slightly, waiting. "Well?" I asked, my voice sweet but carrying an unmistakable edge.

Theo swallowed hard, his Adam’s apple bobbing visibly. His eyes darted between and Damon, as though hoping this wasn’t real. "You... you’re... you’re here?" he finally stamred.

Damon sighed quietly, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Theo, I was trying to tell you that before you decided to shout accusations at ."

Theo blinked again, his expression blank. "Oh."

"Oh," I repeated mockingly, raising a brow. "That’s all you’ve got to say after calling a skeleton and a panda?"

Theo scratched the back of his head awkwardly, his face red as a tomato. "You... you’ve gained a little weight. I ant that as a complint," he said quickly.

He paused, staring at as if I had betrayed him. "So you were the werewolf he brought yesterday, and the one who was screaming along with him yesterday?"

My cheeks flushed with embarrassnt. "Scream?" I stuttered.

"Yes, the whole pack was aware of what happened, and it went on for hours so we were considering blocking our ears. So it was you Ember?" His eyes narrowed dangerously like a father who found his daughter doing mature stuff with a man.

"The whole pack knows?" My eyes widened, round like a saucepan.

’My reputation! Oh my reputation is gone! So everyone knows we did it, not that it is a bad ti, but this is so embarrassing!’

"Yes." Theo shifted his weight from one leg to the other. It was awkward as hell, but soone stood next to with a prideful smirk gracing his lips, his chest swelling up with pride.

Theo groaned, pushing his glasses back up, muttering sothing about headaches and bad timing. "Forget I ca here... this never happened, okay."

Suddenly, Damon pulled into his embrace, my cheeks crashing against his chest. "I’ll forgive this once, considering that you speak up for her."

Theo groaned again, as if the headache was growing worse. "I don’t care about her. And I wasn’t speaking up for her.." his eyes flicked to . "I...I was just trying to remind you of your principle."

Without waiting for our reply, Theo turned around and awkwardly disappeared from the hallway.

I let out a sigh, covering my face, inwardly crying. "Shy now? You weren’t shy when you tied up and rode on ." Damon’s taunting voice echoed in my ear.

I slapped his chest, pushing him away before dashing inside the room. I jumped on the bed, burying my face in the pillow, while kicking my leg on the bed in embarrassnt.

(Third POV)

In the middle of the woods, and under the cover of the night, so figures sat on the forest floor, so lay on the ground, while others stood on their feet watching for any sign of danger.

So of the figures were in their wolf form, while others were witches.

Groans and whimpers of pain echoed through the forest, so of the witches helped heal the ones who were badly injured, both their kind and the werewolves.

Small fires were lit around them, so of the witches gathered around them for warmth, while the other fires were used to boil herbs, and food.

In the middle of the group, Seraphina lay unconscious on the forest floor, anwhile, a black werewolf circled her protectively, the witches who tried to approach her were fiercely growled at.

Midnight swung his claws at them, baring his fangs at them.

"If we don’t treat her now, we might lose her... she is our future queen, you can’t stop us from treating her." One of the witches with dark long hair yelled in fury and pain, her hands flickering with magic.

But her action only made the atmosphere grow tense. The werewolves were watching, and they wouldn’t hesitate to rip their throat even when they had fought together against the corrupted witches.

They hadn’t had the ti to mourn over their dead Queen or conduct a burial for her soul to find peace. The only hope they had was struggling to breathe in front of them, yet the stupid werewolf wouldn’t let them get close to her.

"Let us through, please." The witch with the long black hair said again, this ti pleading.

Midnight stood in his spot, his eyes staring at the witches with suspicion, what if they try to kill her again? He didn’t trust them, and he couldn’t bear to entrust his mate in their care.

He walked closer to Seraphina, his paws leaving prints on the forest floor. He lowered his head, licking her face, nudging her to wake up. But no matter what he did, she remained unconscious, and her breath was shallow.

His golden eyes flicked to the witches, even if he didn’t trust them, he didn’t want to lose her. He stepped aside, and two of the witches imdiately stepped forward, rushing towards Seraphina, before channeling their magic into her.

Dawn ca, yet the witches were still channeling magic.

One of the werewolves stood beside Midnight in his human form, and a deep frown ford on his face.

"Beta, why haven’t you changed back to your human form?" the werewolf asked curiously.

Midnight’s eyes turned stern, without answering him, he walked away to the other side, his eyes fixed on Seraphina.

The man nervously scratched the back of his head. "I hope this is not what I think it is." He muttered under his breath in worry.

Slowly, minutes turned into hours, and hours beca a day. Midnight remained in his spot, watching every mont of the witches.

The two witches finally retracted their hands. Sweat dripped down their pale skin, their body swayed, their fingers trembling.

Two other witches stepped forward and helped them up, taking them to rest.

Midnight stepped forward, Seraphina’s breathing was normal now. And colours had returned to her skin.

He tilted his head up staring at the filtered rays of light through the canopies of the forest. They must head back to the pack now before they get detected by the rogues.

"Everyone, change back to your wolf form. Carry the witches who are badly injured, and the werewolves who are unconscious. We are going to the pack." Midnight ordered through the mindlink.

The werewolves began to change into their wolf form. The witches spun around stunned, wondering if they were getting attacked by the werewolves.

"We are heading back to our pack, and you all are coming along." Midnight said out loud with a detached voice.

Silence stretched through them. The witches never thought the werewolves would take them in, they had believed they would wander around the forest until they found a safe place to live.

Without waiting for their response, he lowered himself and gently carried Seraphina’s unconscious body on his back.

His eyes scanned the surroundings, after he was sure everyone was ready, and the path was safe, he lunged forward, dashing through the woods, the witches followed behind, opening portals to match their speed.
