Golden kept quiet for a few seconds. "Because I am a butterfly, and I can sll the herbs used for the dicine."
I bit my lower lip, fidgeting with my hands. ’But my mother and my uncle have been doing their best to make sure I unlock my powers. Could it be that Golden is lying so I can take it ho?’ I shook my head. ’It wouldn’t do that.’
I stared at Golden, my mind torn at what to believe or who to believe. But I can’t go against the Fae’s rule, I can’t disobey sothing that was written with the blood of a princess.
My heart ached for Golden, being the last of its kind is sad. But I can’t beco an enemy of my people for it. "Golden..." I lowered my gaze. "I can’t... I’m sorry. If I leave this realm, I may never return."
Golden nodded its head. "I know... thank you for listening." Its wings flapped slowly as it made its way out of my room.
My chest clenched tightly, and I felt so awful for doing this. I felt like a coward, but I wasn’t ready to throw my family away. The thought of not being able to step a foot on this land again, scares more than marrying.
Thud. Thud. Thud.
The faint sound of sothing hitting the glass made raise my head.
"What is wrong with the butterfly? Can’t it see the window is locked?" one of the servants said to the other servant standing beside her.
I dragged myself down the bed, swallowing every grimace of the pain. I opened the window and whispered. "Goodbye Golden, stay safe... and I hope you will find your way back ho."
"Thank you princess... I hope you will find your happiness, the truth and your real purpose." It flew out of the window.
"What do you an?!" I yelled. But it didn’t return nor did it respond to .
’Happiness, truth and purpose? Apart from happiness, don’t I have the other two?’
I stared into the cover of the night, my eyes lingered on Golden’s form which was getting further and further away from .
I stood for a while, I didn’t know how long it was, but my shoulders trembled from the shivers of the wind.
"Princess," one the servant draped a royal blue cloak over . "Your dicine is ready."
My body stiffened, the words of Golden rang in my head. ’Don’t drink the dicine, they are lying to you. It doesn’t help you get better... it will trap your powers."
’It doesn’t hurt to play safe.’
"Keep it on the stool beside my bed." I ordered, my voice was colder than I intended.
I locked the window and limped back to my bed. The servants stood at the side of my bed, their gaze fixated on the floor.
"You can go now." I grimaced from the bruises on my hand.
"Princess you are injured!" Green rushed to my side, observing the bruises on my hands.
"How did you get bruises?" Her voice cracked from emotion.
"I fell down." I replied monotonously.
"Let heal you." She reached for my hands.
Her hands hovered above mine, green energy forming around my hands, she muttered sothing under her breath.
After a few seconds, the bruises have disappeared. "That felt good... there are more on my leg." I wriggled my toe, but soon regretted it because of the pain that followed.
Her brows knitted in confusion. "But it doesn’t look like you have stumbled into anything in this room." she muttered under her breath.
I kept quiet, there was no point in saying anything.
"Done. You can drink your dicine now before he gets cold." She walked back to join the other servant.
I nodded my head, I picked the mug, and blew air in to cool down. "You can go now." I said without raising my head.
"But... the King said we must watch you drink it." Green muttered under her breath, but I heard her.
"You all are acting suspicious, did you put sothing in the dicine?" I continued to blow air in it.
"No, we didn’t." Green threw her hands up, her eyes widened in shock. "We will leave now, please drink the dicine." She bowed, before pulling the other servants along.
After the door shut closed, I climbed down my bed and made my way to the bathroom.
I stared at the dark brown liquid inside the mug, "I guess it won’t hurt too much if I don’t drink you for a while." I dumped the content away, before making my way back to the room.
I kept the mug on the stool close to my bed. My face was expressionless and my eyes were distant. I felt like a fish tossed about by the currents and waves of the sea.
A lot was happening, things I have no answer to. The nightmares, marriage, falling out with my family... or maybe I was the only one thinking we were family.
Golden.
I felt bad for letting it leave, it must be feeling so sad, the last hope it had was ripped away by .
I pressed my legs to my chest. My hands reached under my pillow, I touched sothing warm. When I pulled it out, I realized it was the necklace Rhydian had given .
Its colour had changed from white to light blue.
"Rhydian." I called mindlessly, without any expectation of him replying back.
Silences stretched through the air, I sniffled. Tears ran down my cheeks freely.
"Princess Aeris." Rhydian’s voice called from within the stone of the necklace.
"Rhydain, is that you?" I wiped the tears away from my cheeks.
"Yes Princess. Are you alright?"
I nodded, clearing my throat. "I am fine... Thank you for giving the necklace."
"It is my pleasure princess." He paused for a while. "Are you going to go through with the marriage?"
I swallowed. I parted my lips to speak, however I held back. Despite the fact that I felt safe in his presence, I didn’t feel like telling him about what had happened.
"I don’t know."
