The trees blurred as our car sped through the forest. I looked outside the window, my thoughts distant and scattered. But I could feel a burning gaze on . I knew it was no other than Damon.
"Why did you bring back there?" I couldn’t help but ask.
"Because you said you wanted to go ho," he said nonchalantly.
"When did I say that?" I turned to et his gaze.
"You were crying that you wanted to go ho."
I closed my eyes to stop myself from cursing out loud. "That wasn’t what I was referring to," I groaned in frustration.
"Do you have another ho?" his gaze narrowed dangerously at .
"No... No, I don’t," I quickly denied.
’This dumbass. He took ho because I cried that I wanted to go ho. That is sweet of him, but he misunderstood . Who wants to go to hell?... That ho was nothing more than hell to .’
I returned my gaze out of the window. The blurring trees helped my racing heart calm a little bit. Well, that was until I saw a brown figure blurring along the trees. I rubbed my eyes to see if I was hallucinating.
I opened my eyes, but the brown figure was still running alongside the woods. Then a black one appeared behind him, their golden eyes shone like torches. My hands trembled from fear.
"Master... you might want to see this," I panicked, pointing at the blurring figures.
"I know. They are rogues. It seems like they are attacking," he said, resting his head on his palm.
’How is he so calm? We are about to die! We are about to D-I-E!’ I scread in my head.
"Master... There are a lot of them. We are going to die," I cried.
He looked at . Then he patted my head. "Don’t worry... I won’t let them touch you," he humd.
"Alaric, go faster. We should make it to our territory before they catch up," he ordered.
"Yes, Alpha."
Alaric sped up. Seeing that we had outrun them cald down, but it was short-lived as they caught up again.
I shifted away from the door of the car. Who knows, they might start attacking anyti from now.
As if they could hear my thoughts, a brown wolf appeared from the side of my door. Its golden eyes stared at , its teeth bared, its mouth dripping with saliva.
"Master Damon!" I cried in shock, throwing myself at Damon.
Damon clicked his tongue in annoyance. He pushed away. He held my shoulders. "I want you to stay in the car. Follow Alaric’s instructions." He patted my head.
"Alaric, take care of her." With that, he opened the door, jumping out of it before slamming it shut.
My eyes widened in horror. ’Did he just jump out of a moving car? And he was going to face all those rogues all by himself?’
I spun around, looking out of the back glass of the car. I saw a massive white wolf getting encircled by many smaller wolves. My fingers trembled in nervousness.
My heart tugged with pain and panic. ’Please co back safe... Please co back safe,’ I chanted in my head.
"Don’t worry, he will be fine. We should be more worried about ourselves," he said with a light smile.
’How could he smile in this situation? Has he lost a nut?’
"What do we have to do to make it to safety?" I asked with an arched brow.
My gaze returned to the distance behind us, but I couldn’t see anything as we had gone too far from them.
"All we need is to enter our territory. Then we can communicate with the guards to co fight."
"And how long would it take to cross the territory?" I asked.
"About ten minutes’ drive."
"We are close," I muttered more to myself.
Suddenly, a rogue wolf slamd into the car, making the tires screech loudly against the ground.
My head bumped into the chair of the car. I raised my head, my heart sorsaulting in my chest.
"Alaric, is there anything I can do to help?" I made my way to the front seat.
"If you could drive, it would have been easier for to handle these scums," he cursed.
"I can drive."
"What... How? When?" He hit the gas, narrowly avoiding another rogue wolf that was about to slam into us again.
"Just trust and let drive... I can drive better than you."
"How sure are you? I don’t think you’ve driven Alpha Caelen’s car before." His eyes scrutinized as if I had grown two heads.
"A hundred percent su..." Another rogue slamd into us.
This ti our car rotated on the highway, smoke filling the air. It screeched before coming to a stop.
My head bumped against the glass, but it wasn’t hard enough to cause an injury.
"Let’s change now!" I shouted, loosening my belt before crossing over to his seat while he crossed over to mine.
"Ember... please, you better know how to drive... or else we are as good as fucked." He opened the compartnt in front of him and brought out a black gun.
"Ember, hit the gas."
I quickly stepped on the gas, speeding off. The rogues began to chase after us again.
"Okay, I must give it to you. You are good," he winked at , cocking the gun.
A rogue ran beside , bodying the car. The wheel turned in my hand as it was pushing us off the road. I tried to turn the wheel to the opposite side, but it was like I was fighting against a heavy force.
"Ember, lower your head."
I didn’t need to be told twice. I quickly bent down, but I kept my eyes on the road. Alaric fired the gun. A silver bullet flew over my head, piercing through the glass window before hitting the rogue in the head.
It fell down. The car wheel returned to its normal course, though it felt very loose at first.
"Alaric... we made it to the border!" I cried out happily.
But I didn’t see the other rogue that was heading straight for us.
