Alexander and Ted marched forward, wands in hand, cautious.
As so of the first mage apprentices, both he and Ted had already advanced to the level of fourth-grade magicians.
Coupled with the multitude of magic items they carried, their power surpassed that of heroes.
The fact that two were sent out at once demonstrated the Academy’s emphasis on this exploration.
“Turn fossils to mud!”
“Illumination spell!”
A tunnel was forcefully made within the bedrock, and it was also illuminated by the light.
“The appearance of this rock is bizarre; it doesn’t seem natural.”
Alexander touched the rock wall and suddenly said.
...
“Which ans we might have found the right place, blessed be the magic!” Ted was very happy: “Deep beneath this site, there’s likely an Acute Angle Monunt!”
“Yes, the mage’s treasure, the origin of all transcendence!”
Alexander exclaid, waving his hand and the Super String Warriors behind him had to step forward to lead the way.
The group walked for an unknowable ti until an echoing sound signals they reached an open space.
“We’ve made it…
as expected, there is an underground space!”
Ted, overjoyed, imdiately led his n to storm in.
Alexander extended his hand, his lips moved but no words ca out.
“Illumination spell!”
A huge ball of light erged from the top of the wand, shot into the sky, and ford a bright daylight like the sun.
The sight revealed a huge tomb-like structure.
A faintly visible Acute Angle Monunt was enshrined on the central Maya Pyramid, surrounded by many puppet guards of the Insect Clan.
They all turned their head at once, their eyes emitting a scarlet light.
“These appear to be the Trialists ntioned in the legend of the rcenary Emperor, each with heroic strength!”
Alexander gulped at the sight of the puppets, hastily casting: “Maze Spell!”
A labyrinth erged instantaneously, dividing the battlefield.
“Attack!”
“Take them down!”
Ted hid behind the Super String Warriors, continuously casting deadly spells from his wand.
They were well-practiced in these tactics and ready for combat.
After a violent battle that resulted in heavy casualties among the Super String Warriors, they finally cleared the area and opened a path to the pyramid.
“This is Vormont Language…”
Alexander kicked away the head of an Insect Clan puppet, carefully examining the runes on the surface of the pyramid and the many skeletal remains: “It’s hard to believe…
even such a great civilization of the Insect Clan was still practicing bloody sacrificial rituals and slave burials…”
“Who cares about that?
Hurry and get the Acute Angle Monunt!”
Excited, Ted began ascending the steps to the monunt.
The ‘strings’ and the marks left on them seed to be recounting the true aning of magic, causing him to beco entranced.
“Careful, Ted.
There might still be traps!”
Alexander followed behind him, nervously warning.
“I’ve already done a magic detection…
there’s nothing!
Trust !”
Ted, nonchalantly reaching out his hand, attempted to touch the Acute Angle Monunt.
Click!
At that mont, a stone slab in front of him suddenly flipped and displayed an eerie, vertical eye carving.
“What…”
“Magic Barrier!”
Ted reacted quickly, instantaneously cloaking himself in a multicolored protective shield.
But it was useless!
His gaze was drawn to the vertical eye rune.
It seed to hold an endless mystery, profound and terrifying, made up of many indescribable things.
The mont it appeared, it captured all of his consciousness.
“So beautiful…”
Ted mumbled as his head suddenly swelled to the size of a waterlon.
His eyes bulged out, eventually erupting.
Boom!
His waterlon-sized head exploded, spilling red and white matter everywhere.
“Ah!”
Without ti to think, Alexander swung his wand, “Sphere of Destruction!”
A magic missile landed on the stone slab in front of the Acute Angle Monunt, causing a violent corrosion sound.
In the rising white smoke, the original stone slab had been completely corroded.
Alexander’s face turned pale as he pointed to a Super String Warrior, “You…
go and fetch the Acute Angle Monunt!”
The Super String Warrior’s face was stern.
Seeing the cold light in Alexander’s eyes, he shuddered, then stepped forward.
He reached out a trembling hand, grasping the Acute Angle Monunt and pulled with a jerk.
“Heave!”
With a shout, the Acute Angle Monunt was pulled out.
“A one-ti trap that can evade magic detection?”
Alexander sighed in relief, then pointed to Ted’s corpse, a hint of sadness overca him, “My classmate, my friend…
may magic bless your spirit!”
…
The Imperial Capital.
Inside the Magician Tower.
“There’s news…”
Tacro, holding a Crystal Ball, entered the ditation room, “Alexander’s team has made a discovery and excavated the third Acute Angle Monunt.”
Ilya stood up, a flash of brightness in her eyes, “Great, I’ll set out imdiately to et them.”
“It’s…
too late.”
A hint of sadness crossed Tacro’s face, “Ted was too eager and has fallen victim to an ancient trap…”
“Is that so?”
Ilya paused, an image of a blushing boy with an appealing smile when he laughed appeared before her eyes.
After a mont of silence: “May magic bless his spirit!”
“Ilya, there’s sothing I want to say…”
Gazing at Ilya, Tacro suddenly began, “Although I pursue knowledge, I understand there are so taboos that one shouldn’t touch unless they reach a high enough level…
like this ti.
The new discovery at the Insect Clan site gives palpitations…
Possibly, within the Insect Clan, there are tabooed knowledge, such as the ‘Ancient Ruler’, such as the ‘Divine’!”
These two words are few of the many gleaned from the arduous excavations carried out by magicians in ancient ruins.
“Divine?
I like the word, it is a synonym for power and truth…
and we magicians, are a group in pursuit of truth!”
Ilya retorted disdainfully, “However, thank you for your reminder.
I will be cautious.
Plus…
once you are strong enough, taboos will no longer be forbidding.
I understand this principle very well.
Perhaps…
you should improve yourself as soon as possible, otherwise, you will never see the brilliance and true nature of this world!”
She left the Mage Tower and transford into a small speck, disappearing into the horizon.
Watching this scene, all Tacro could do was give a bitter smile.
“Ilya, you still don’t understand how terrible a real ‘taboo’ can be, it’s sothing even fate fears…”
“However, there is one thing you’re right about, I should indeed step forward…
Divine, divine!”
Bewildernt flickered in his eyes.
For so reason, upon hearing this title, Tacro felt an intense longing.
It seed to be sothing very familiar to him, but what erged with it was profound fear!
