"Where was I exaggerating? Isn’t this the truth?" Qiao Yu retorted unhappily.
"What did you persist in?" Qiao Xi asked.
"Even when Director Tian, Elder Yuan, and many mathematicians didn’t think much of , I insisted on researching the Riemann Conjecture!"
Qiao Yu said with his head held high.
Qiao Xi glanced at Qiao Yu, smiled, and didn’t say anything else.
The little fellow’s dignity needed to be preserved.
And besides, the formal interview on the TV had already started.
Host: "Qiao Yu, your na has appeared in the headlines of major dia worldwide these days, but for many people, you still remain a mysterious and unknown figure.
Can you share with us what your upbringing was like? How did you step by step end up on the path of mathematics? For example, did you have a ntor? Or were you influenced by your family?"
Qiao Yu: "Hmm, how should I put it? Actually, my interest in mathematics started because of a movie called ’Soul Catcher.’ To be honest, there was a ti in middle school when I was quite disheartened.
Later, a childhood friend insisted on watching this movie, and then I suddenly developed an interest in mathematics and started self-studying so things.
This is how I was discovered by Teacher Lan Jie from Star City No.1 Middle School. I was in the third year of middle school then, and he said I had the potential for the Olympic Competition and made sure I participated in the Little Alibaba Competition and the Math Olympics. That’s how I stumbled onto the path of mathematics."
Seeing this, Qiao Xi laughed again.
"Soul Catcher? Wasn’t it ’Jerry and Maggie Live in Luxury’? Did you forget you once swore you’d study mathematics, win tens of millions, and take traveling everywhere?"
"Do you think that’s what I want? It’s called appropriate artistic embellishnt! That was sothing Director Tian and I agreed on! Now, I’m a role model for young people nationwide. If I said on TV that I studied math just to make money, how would that show the power of being a role model?" Qiao Yu glanced at Qiao Xi and explained.
Qiao Xi smiled and nodded. She certainly knew that soone must have coached him to stop Qiao Yu from saying whatever he wanted on TV, but she just enjoyed seeing Qiao Yu’s disgruntled look.
After all, she’s his mom.
...
"You just briefly introduced the Riemann Conjecture, and my colleagues have consulted many mathematicians. They all say that solving the Riemann Conjecture has significant implications.
It’s not only a milestone in the history of mathematics but also an extrely complex endeavor. Can you share with us how you ca to research the Riemann Conjecture? Where did your original inspiration co from?"
On the television, Qiao Yu nodded seriously and said, "I t Professor Xue Song when I was participating in the Little Alibaba Competition, and he could be considered one of my early influencers in number theory.
At that ti, due to so of his introductions, I beca interested in the problem of pri number distribution. Later on, including the proposal of the Generalized Modal Axiomatic System, the initial goal was actually to solve the pri number distribution problem.
So, one could roughly say that ever since I embarked on this mathematical path, I’ve hoped to conquer this conjecture one day! Fortunately, I succeeded."
The host imdiately asked again, "Did you face any difficulties during your research, and how did you overco them?"
On the television, Qiao Yu hesitated for a mont and then candidly replied, "Well, honestly, I think the biggest difficulty when I started this project was probably the lack of understanding from those around .
Many people didn’t believe I could solve this problem. Initially, when I proposed the Generalized Modal Axiomatic System, I applied for the Natural Science Foundation, but it didn’t go through.
Later, I published a paper, preliminarily constructing this system, and then I found out that this system could indeed be used to solve the Riemann Conjecture. This year, I applied again for a related Riemann Conjecture project, only to be rejected again."
After saying that, Qiao Yu sat there spreading his hands like a little adult and sighed, "Sigh...how should I put it? At that ti, I felt untrusted, and there was indeed a period when I felt quite dejected.
However, Director Tian, Elder Yuan, and my mom kept encouraging and supporting . For example, they helped apply for many school-level awards and funds, and Director Tian also invited many mathematicians researching this field to give lectures.
Their many ideas greatly inspired my research. Not only did it help overco that phase of depression, but it also saved a lot of ti, until I finally completed it.
Of course, as I wrote in the acknowledgnt section of my paper, Professor Xue Song’s research greatly aided in ultimately solving this problem. In fact, I also wanted to include Director Tian and Elder Yuan in my acknowledgnt, but they wouldn’t let ..."
