Chapter Eighty-Four

He stood, ignoring himself and stretching out his shoulders before heading for the door. He paused just long enough to throw his cousin a glance over his shoulder.

"She’s my toy. Only I decide when this ends between us." Though Aht had told his cousin this, Markus was sure even he didn’t believe that himself. The grip on his armchair was too tight, the muscle in his jaw ticking with barely restrained frustration.

If he really believed his own words, he wouldn’t look like hell after just a few days she hadn’t called him. The dark circles under his eyes, and the restless way he paced when he thought no one was watching... it all told a different story.

Aht’s anger burned hotter with every passing second. And Markus saw it. It wasn’t just the silence that was haunting him. It wasn’t just her defiance.

It was him.

The other man. The one hovering too close, the one she wasn’t ignoring.

He watched as Aht’s fingers curled into fists, one more ti, his shoulders coiling in tension. She was not just a toy. Aht knew that. He had lied. Markus knew that. But that wasn’t the argunt here. That wasn’t the real problem.

The real problem was Demir.

And sothing told Aht that the bastard wasn’t planning to back down either.

________

Aht slid into the driver’s seat, the leather cool against his back. He started the car at the sa ti he pulled out his phone and scrolled to her na. Without hesitation, he pressed the dial, and the phone rang as he pulled onto the road.

One ring.

Two.

Three.

Straight to voicemail.

His jaw ticked, as his fingers tightened around the wheel. She was ignoring him. It was clear now that she was ignoring him.

Big mistake. Was it because of Demir? It had to be him.

He exhaled slowly, keeping his cool as he pulled over to the side of the road. The streetlights flickered above him, casting angry rays into his eyes. He ignored the lights and stared at his phone for a mont before tapping out a ssage. He capitalized each word deliberately.

"If you know what’s good for you, better pick up my call before I do anything that will put both you and in trouble."

He hit send, tossed the phone onto the passenger seat, and let the silence stretch. Five seconds. No response.

Ten. Still, no response.

His patience snapped. He picked up the phone and dialed her number again. He ant his threat. If she didn’t pick up this call, he was going to do sothing stupid. Sothing he might regret later.

This ti, she answered. He almost sighed as relief washed over him.

However....

There was a pause— just breathing on the other end like she was debating whether to speak first.

For so reason, his anguish had suddenly transford into sothing else... sothing exciting.

Aht smirked, his grip on the wheel loosening. "There you are." It could be that he was simply relieved she had picked up his call.

Was it not funny? He was about to lose it but now that he knew she was on the other phone listening, he felt calm.

Silence. Then, finally, her voice soft but hesitant, whispered. "Aht..." she didn’t sound excited to hear from him.

His smirk suddenly faded, his voice imdiately turning low and controlled. "Tell why the hell you are ignoring my calls."

"You fucking pointed a gun at ." She answered and he knew this conversation shouldn’t be done on the phone. "I’m driving to our place. et ."

Our place. et . The words echoed in both their heads but none of them pointed it out. It was as if it was a fact their eting place was for them both. It wasn’t Aht’s place. It was theirs.

After driving for a while, he was already at the place. He entered through the gate and into the garage but noticed her car was already packed in there. He parked his beside hers as the garage could contain above three cars.

When did she arrive? How co his alarm didn’t beep for... oh yeah, he had almost forgotten he didn’t take her car details out of the system.

Was she already here when he had called? Why did she ignore his call if she was already here?

He entered his bedroom, removing his suit jacket first and then unbuttoned the first two buttons of his shirt and rolled the sleeves to his elbow length.

His eyes never left hers. He caught the way her eyes traced over him also, slow and seductively, as if she were morizing every detail.

She was savoring him, just as much as he was her. The tension between them was still there and her desire for him was still in her eyes.

It excited him. More than he was relieved earlier.

But that was short. Suddenly, the na Demir crossed his mind, whispering in his ears insecurities he never thought he had and all of a sudden, his face distorted in distaste.

"How long have you been waiting?" He asked, trying to start a conversation with her.

"Does it matter?" her tone was as cold as her facial expression.

He wanted to laugh at himself. Was he the only one needing her? Was he the only one needing this?

He sighed, seriously not knowing where to continue from.

Just then, her phone began to ring and she picked up imdiately after she looked at the number.

She didn’t text the caller she was busy.

"Hi, Demir." She responded. It was as if he tasted poison. He hated her calling his na. "No. I have to take care of sothing... no, I might not return early. Don’t wait for ... no, go to bed without ." She hung up with a shy smile on her face. Had she even noticed she had that on or did she not care he was looking at her?

’I have to take care of sothing...’ he was sothing she had to take care of. ’...no, go to bed without .’ We’re they sharing a bed together?

This was it, Aht couldn’t control himself anymore. He snapped.

"Who is Demir?" He asked, constraints in his tone.

"Soone I know." Again her tone was cold and her smile had suddenly disappeared while talking to him.

’Soone I know.’ Was she trying to lie to him when he clearly knew he wasn’t just soone she knew?

"Clearly, he’s not soone you just know," Aht was trying. He was trying so hard not to sound entitled. He was trying not to sound like it was affecting him more than he was already showing her. He was trying to pretend like Demir’s existence was irking him.

They both stared at each other, both of them heated up in anger and jealousy. He clenched his fists beside him.

"Have you found whoever stole your cargo?" She asked after the silence had stretched for a while.

"Are you changing the topic?" He snapped. "I asked a question first. Who the fck is Demir?" Aht couldn’t take it anymore. Heaven knew he was trying... tried, perhaps. He yelled and she flinched.
