Fushimi Roku realized that this mother and daughter pair didn’t even regard him as a human being.

The two of them decided over the phone, without consulting him, that he would go to the influential Fujiwara family as Minamoto Tamako’s boyfriend. In front of the highest officer of the Tokyo Police Departnt, he would claim to be Minamoto Tamako’s boyfriend, demand that the marriage between the Fujiwara and Kujo families be annulled, and investigate a murder case committed by the only son of the Fujiwara family.

If taken individually, each request seed reasonable.

But putting them together, it seems a bit disrespectful.

After Minamoto Tamako hung up the phone, Fushimi Roku leaned on the armrest, frowned, and asked, "Shouldn’t you consider my feelings?"

"You don’t want to?" Minamoto Tamako was taken aback.

"It’s not about wanting or not... It’s like... like... alright, I just don’t want to," Fushimi Roku slapped his thigh decisively.

After saying that, he saw Minamoto Tamako’s thunderstruck expression and quickly added, "It’s not that I don’t want to be your boyfriend—no, to be precise, it’s not that I don’t want to pretend to be your boyfriend... You’re my good partner, my good friend, so I definitely have to help with this. Right?"

Minamoto Tamako’s mind was a bit muddled, she clutched her phone and asked blankly, "Then what don’t you want?"

Fushimi Roku couldn’t quite explain what he didn’t want. In short, he felt that if he agreed, he lost, failed, was humiliated, had no hope left in life, and was being played by that old fox Kujo Yua.

Initially, he wanted to slap Kujo Yua in the face and show what a real Sigma man is...

Now instead of becoming a Sigma man, he’s beco Minamoto Tamako’s lapdog.

How can this be?

Moreover, Director Fujiwara is his boss’s boss’s boss’s boss’s boss... He’s certainly not afraid to offend him, but what’s the necessity in offending him?

Ultimately, he felt that this was a thankless task, and Minamoto Tamako even added a ti limit—only to be in a nominal boyfriend-girlfriend status for three months. In other words, by July, they would clarify publicly or pretend to break up, reverting to being friends automatically.

This is utterly absurd; he doesn’t even know if he’ll make it to July!

"What if I screw up?" Fushimi Roku tried to find other reasons to dissuade Minamoto Tamako: "You know I’m not good at socializing..."

"No problem, I’ll help you speak when the ti cos," Minamoto Tamako planned thoroughly: "And after that, I’ll inquire about Fujiwara Homare’s matters... If you’re unwilling to speak, you can just sit there like a mannequin."

Fushimi Roku, very dissatisfied, squird in his seat, slapped the wheelchair’s armrest, and thought to himself, "You’re forcing ; it’s ti for the Kujo family’s mother and daughter to know what happens when you push too hard!"

"It’s unnecessary. Since you two have already decided for , even if I don’t want to help, I still have to," he said with a forced smile: "Don’t worry, your lifelong matters are in my hands!"

Minamoto Tamako nodded happily. If Mr. Fu Jian was willing to cooperate actively, that couldn’t be better... She had been worried that if he didn’t confess by the end of the year, she’d actually have to perform so kind of elite runaway bride drama?

She pushed Fushimi Roku back to the café, waiting for Kujo Yua’s reply. In less than ten minutes, the phone rang, and Kujo Yua said she had arranged a eting with Director Fujiwara at the Fujiwara residence two hours later, with the address texted to her phone.

Knowing there’s still two hours, Minamoto Tamako planned to check her bank account balance. Fushimi Roku, learning of this, hurriedly stopped her, suggesting they buy gifts instead. Going empty-handed would be very impolite—after all, they were not only going to inquire about case-related matters but also representing the Kujo family to call off the engagent.

Minamoto Tamako always distinguished between public and private matters, but this visit involved both personal and official business, so it made sense to not go empty-handed.

She took Fushimi Roku to Chidoriyasu main store, a place selling confectionery, which was also a great choice for buying gifts, considered a good brand.

Minamoto Tamako planned to purchase so wagashi, a delicacy with an exquisite appearance and a variety of flavors, like red bean paste, matcha, etc. It’s delectable and prestigious; whenever she visited the Kujo family’s relatives, she would bring wagashi as a gift.

Fushimi Roku had no objection to this; he believed that no matter what you give, the well-off Fujiwara family had probably received it all, so it was just about the gesture.

After shopping, Minamoto Tamako pulled out a piggy wallet, extracted a bank card, and handed it to the clerk for checkout.

The clerk swiped the card on the POS machine, and Minamoto Tamako entered her password; all her bank cards had the sa password—after paynt, she took back the bank card and realized she used the wrong one, using the card with an unknown balance ant for entertainnt expenses.

Strange.

Why doesn’t this card run out of funds?

Minamoto Tamako signaled the clerk to help check the balance. Fushimi Roku had no ti to stop her, watching as the clerk pressed the inquiry button, the POS machine showing the balance—the clerk’s eyes widened, subconsciously counting aloud: "Units, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten-thousands, hundred-thousands, millions, ten-millions..."

More than 24 million yen?!!!

The clerk quickly returned the bank card to the little rich lady in front of her, her hand trembling, fearing accidentally damaging this bank card.

After seeing the result, Minamoto Tamako was stunned for a while. Her mind didn’t imdiately process it, asking if the store’s POS machine was broken and if they could check again.

The rich lady having spoken, how could the clerk refuse? They switched to three different POS machines consecutively with no issues regarding the balance.

"How odd, how co my card suddenly has so much money?"

Minamoto Tamako turned to Fushimi Roku to ask, "Have you ever encountered sothing like this? Could it be that I won a prize inadvertently... Wait, a prize... could it be Cat Island—"

"It must be a bank error," Fushimi Roku interrupted decisively.

"Why?" Minamoto Tamako asked, holding a gift bag full of wagashi as she pushed Fushimi Roku’s wheelchair out of the specialty store. "How can you be so sure?"

"Haven’t there been similar cases in the news? An internal bank worker accidentally added an extra zero or misplaced a decimal point while handling accounts, causing a client’s account to suddenly have a large sum, and then they hurriedly called to retrieve it..."

Fushimi Roku had read about such scenarios on so forum or QQ group in a previous life. Now, he was making up a story, embellishing it and ending with the custor winning a lawsuit against the bank.

Minamoto Tamako was skeptical. "But I won a twenty-five hundred yen bonus on Cat Island, and the amount matches exactly..."

"Just a coincidence," Fushimi Roku said, displaying a disdainful expression. "People like them would never pay properly."

"What if it really was transferred from Cat Island?" Minamoto Tamako pressed.

"Then there’s nothing to be done about it. I suggest you transfer this ill-gotten money to , and I’ll handle it properly for you."

Just as Fushimi Roku finished speaking, his phone rang in his pocket. He answered it, and it was Director Moriki who called, saying it was sothing very important and asking him to co back to the Sugamo Apartnt at once for a talk.

"Sorry, I’m busy with Tamako right now, investigating the case, and I really can’t get away..."

As he spoke, Fushimi Roku glanced down at his own legs, looking convincingly like soone partially paralyzed.

Moriyama Yasurou wasn’t ready to let him off that easily and insisted, "This matter is very important, Kazama is here too... You’d better make so ti to co back. He said it has sothing to do with ’Heavenly Punishnt’."

Minamoto Tamako had sharp ears. Even though Fushimi Roku hadn’t put the call on speaker, she could vaguely catch so words—especially the phrase "Heavenly Punishnt," which she imdiately keyed in on.

"What’s going on? What’s going on!" She leaned over to Fushimi Roku’s phone, putting her ear close to it. "Is that Sister Yalan? Has the ’Heavenly Punishnt’ perpetrator struck again?"

"Uh, no, it’s just that we wanted to chat with Mr. Fushimi..."

"So there is a new clue?" Minamoto Tamako checked the ti. There was still so ti before her appointnt, minus a twenty-minute drive. She had an hour to go back ho. "Hold on, I’m heading back now!"

"Ah, um, alright." Moriyama Yasurou couldn’t refuse.

Fushimi Roku hung up the phone, and Minamoto Tamako quickly pushed him back to the Sugamo Apartnt, knocking on Senior Kazama’s door.

Moriyama Yasurou had been waiting for so ti. She opened the door and let them into the living room. Fushimi Roku looked around but didn’t see Watanabe Shun. Kazama Tatsuya stood with his arms crossed and a stern expression, the atmosphere in the living room was quite heavy.

Sothing’s not right!

It’s definitely not right by nine out of ten chances!

Linking this to Moriyama Yasurou’s earlier ntion of "Heavenly Punishnt," Fushimi Roku suspected he might have inadvertently revealed sothing, sensing a murderous intent warning inside.

"Ha!" He greeted proactively, changing the subject by asking, "Just the two of you? Watanabe Shun isn’t here?"

"So things aren’t suitable to discuss with him," Kazama Tatsuya explained casually.

He knew Watanabe Shun’s nature too well: the man had no concept of privacy, was prone to spilling secrets, and loved gossiping about others, not to ntion sharing his own blunders for everyone’s amusent over drinks.

"Oh~" Fushimi Roku elongated his tone, standing up from his wheelchair and plopping down on the sofa. "Since when have you two gotten so close?"

At these words, Minamoto Tamako was taken aback at first, then squinted her eyes, her hair swaying with a smirk befitting a shipping fangirl, looking back and forth between Sister Yalan and Senior Kazama.

The two were of similar age and both single; it wasn’t surprising for sparks to fly between them!

Even though Senior Kazama was missing an arm, prosthetics and a bionic eye were quite cool! Isn’t cyberpunk manga all the rage these days? If Senior Kazama fitted himself with sleek bionics, he might be even more charismatic...

Moriyama Yasurou sneered, thinking this guy really didn’t know when to back down, knowing full well his own shortcomings yet muddying others rather than cleaning up himself.

"After all, we’re survivors from Cat Island, it’s only normal to band together and share our thoughts, isn’t it?" She sat in front of Fushimi Roku, crossing her legs. She was about to confront him when she suddenly rembered the scenes of Fushimi Roku engaged in bloody, chaotic battles and quickly put her legs down, sitting upright.

"It’s like this..."

Moriyama Yasurou and Kazama Tatsuya exchanged glances. "There’s sothing we must confirm with Mr. Fushimi, otherwise..."

She wasn’t sure what "otherwise" ant. Worst case, Fushimi Roku could break up with Minamoto Tamako, but for her and Kazama Tatsuya, their lives might hang in the balance.

"What’s the matter? Didn’t you call us here to chat about ’Heavenly Punishnt’?" Minamoto Tamako found it rather baffling.

Fushimi Roku sensed from her tone that she knew sothing, made an educated guess, and scratched his head, asking, "What’s the matter?"

"Do you like Minamoto Tamako?" Kazama Tatsuya asked swiftly and straightforwardly.
