[Ding! The host defeated the S-rated ghoul "Kirishima Ayato" and received the reward: 25 fusion points.]

Kirishima Ayato twitched at the word "kid."

He hated it. But there was nothing he could say. He had been overpowered with almost no effort. He hadn't even landed a solid blow.

And to be fair, Ryoma wasn't wrong. Ayato was only fourteen, standing just over 160 centiters. He wasn't much taller than his sister Touka.

To Kanzaki Ryoma, he really was just a kid.

Despite his rebellious persona, everything Ayato did was to protect Touka. He just had a rotten way of showing it.

On the second floor, Touka had just made sure Ryoko and Hinami were safe. When she looked down again and saw Ayato defeated, she felt complicated.

She wasn't surprised. Ryoma was strong. But seeing her little brother in such a sorry state didn't sit well. Then again, she thought, maybe he deserved it.

"So strong..."

Banjou couldn't help but mutter aloud.

He'd served under Ayato and he knew the boy's strength. And yet, Ryoma made him look helpless.

The gap was overwhelming.

He now understood why Miss Rize had chosen to stay beside this man.

Kamishiro Rize didn't even glance at the fallen Ayato. She sipped her coffee, calm and unbothered.

"I suggest you leave with Ayato-kun. You won't win here."

Nico turned to the Bottle Brothers and spoke in a breezy tone, as if warning them out of courtesy.

They hesitated, exchanged glances, then picked Ayato up and backed out of the café. They were no fools. If Ayato had been crushed that easily, they'd fare even worse.

Nico, however, didn't leave.

He had no allegiance to Aogiri Tree. He only followed what interested him. And right now, that was the boy standing across the room.

[Ding! The host repelled the Aogiri Tree cadres and received the reward: 50 fusion points.]

"You're the last one left. Planning to stay?"

Touka asked coldly, already annoyed by his presence.

"Don't worry, darling. I've got no interest in fighting. I just wanted a closer look at the handso young man who took down 'Jason.'"

Nico's hips swayed as he approached, his tone syrupy and his smile unsettling.

Touka cringed and stepped back, visibly uncomfortable.

Ryoma remained still, unfazed.

Nico didn't radiate any killing intent. He wasn't a ghoul who killed for pleasure, nor did he seem to pose a real threat right now.

So Ryoma let him be.

Nico got in close and studied him.

"The scent... it's really coming from you. And that face—my, you are beautiful."

He fluttered his lashes.

"Handso boy, can I have your contact info~?"

"..."

Touka made a face like she'd swallowed a fly. This freak really just asked that?

The sa freak whose friend Ryoma killed?

And yet, Nico didn't seem to mind. Not at all.

Rize stood up.

She hadn't reacted at all during the earlier fight, but this mont seed to trigger her.

"Disgusting. Get out."

She said it with a smile, but her eyes were ice.

Nico pouted dramatically.

"So an..."

He left his number on the table anyway, scribbled on a pink slip of paper.

"If you ever need , darling, call ~"

He blew a kiss and sashayed out the door.

"..."

Ryoma stared at the note, then picked it up silently.

[Ding! The host t the SS-rated ghoul "Nico" and received the reward: 5 fusion points.]

The Clowns were unpredictable. Nico hadn't approached him out of malice. He was just bored.

Still, as long as he didn't try anything more... Ryoma would leave it be.

Touka looked disgusted.

Rize walked over and snatched the note from his hand. She tore it into shreds without a second thought.

She clearly had no tolerance for Nico.

"What now? Going back to the 11th Ward, or staying here in the café?"

Touka turned to Banjou and his n.

"Thanks for the offer," Banjou said, his voice low. "But we need to return. Our people are still in the 11th. We can't leave them behind."

"I see. Then take care of yourself."

Touka nodded.

"Thank you. Before I go..."

Banjou turned to Ryoma.

"You're strong. Please... take care of Miss Rize."

Ryoma looked at him, unsure how to respond.

"...Got it."

It was the only thing he could say.

Banjou bowed and left with his n, heading back to the chaos of the 11th Ward.

Not long after, Yoshimura and Yomo returned.

By then, Ryoma, Touka, and the others had already cleaned up most of the ss. Except for the shattered front window—courtesy of Ayato's entrance—that still needed repairs.

Touka scowled.

"Next ti I see that brat, I'm making him pay for that window."

........

Literally Girl (org author) note: Honestly, I've always wanted to rant about Kaneki's capture by Jason. Where were Koma and Irimi? Yoshimura and Yomo at least said they were going to the 11th Ward, but the other two just vanished. If they'd been around, Kaneki probably wouldn't have been taken so easily. Maybe I missed sothing in the manga, but still—lazy writing?
