Aoyama Xiu Xin arrived.

By then, Panasonic Jiezi was already drunk.

His face flushed red, sweat on his forehead, his tie loosely hung around his neck, reeking of alcohol, his eyes blurry and clouded, as he poured himself one drink after another.

He hadn’t even noticed Aoyama Xiu Xin’s arrival.

Aoyama Xiu Xin frowned, grabbed a bottle of wine from the iced bucket, held it upside down, and the cold wine flowed over Panasonic Jiezi’s head and face.

"Who... who is it?" Panasonic Jiezi shivered from the cold, sobered up slightly, looked up furiously, and upon seeing it was Aoyama Xiu Xin, his eyes cleared up a lot. He abruptly got up, "President!"

"Clear this table and set up a new one exactly the sa," Aoyama Xiu Xin yelled to the waiter.

The waiter left respectfully.

Shortly after, two waiters appeared with trays in the private room, beginning to clear the table of wine and food.

Aoyama Xiu Xin sat down, poured a cup of newly served hot tea for Panasonic Jiezi, and asked nonchalantly, "By the looks of it, have you been dumped?"

He still highly valued this second-generation official.

Although he was diocre in abilities, as long as Mr. Panasonic could smooth out his path before dying, his future could be ruling over so region, or he could even be a mber of Congress.

The world was just so unreasonable.

He, being so competent, had to fight tooth and nail, striving hard; whereas Panasonic Jiezi, being so diocre, could follow the standard procedures and enjoy a smooth official career.

"It would be fine if it were just a heartbreak," Panasonic Jiezi sat down, took a sip of the tea, and bitterly said, "But it might be unemploynt next."

"Hmm?" Aoyama Xiu Xin’s eyes suddenly sharpened.

Panasonic Jiezi’s career didn’t just involve himself, as a mber of the Xiongcheng Association, it also involved the collective interests of him, the president, and the broad mbership.

If there were issues with Panasonic Jiezi’s career.

Then he must help him resolve the troubles, as this would be beneficial in enhancing team cohesion during the fledgling stage of Xiongcheng Association.

It was necessary to make other mbers clearly feel that progressing together for a common ideal was not just a slogan; otherwise, everyone would look out for themselves, and the potential power of the team wouldn’t be fully leveraged.

While the waiters were serving the dishes, Panasonic Jiezi wiped the wine off his face, clenched his teeth, and said with a face full of frustration, "Panasonic Jun is returning to the Panasonic family."

This damn old lamp!

Upon hearing this, Aoyama Xiu Xin was startled at first, and then he comprehended. Mr. Panasonic trained Panasonic Jiezi under the notion that no one in the family was capable enough. However, now that a truly capable person had returned, there was no need to train Panasonic Jiezi anymore.

Allocating the wasted resources on Panasonic Jiezi to Panasonic Jun would double the effects, and the Panasonic family might even rise to a higher level after Mr. Panasonic’s death.

Mr. Panasonic’s approach was rational.

Just too heartless towards Panasonic Jiezi.

However, Panasonic Jun was quite flexible. Before, he openly defied his family; now that his career suffered, he imdiately knelt before his father, ready to take over the family business.

Indeed, no matter what kind of person one might be, as long as they could achieve a certain level of success in officialdom, they all shared a common trait—being good at making compromises.

Politics is the art of compromise.

"President, the video of Panasonic Qingyun raping a civilian woman..." Panasonic Jiezi asked tentatively.

"No," Aoyama Xiu Xin interrupted him without hesitation and explained, "That video was for the Chief Justice Takizawa Shikou, who has already achieved his goal with it. Using that video again would complicate things for him and cause dissatisfaction."

"Moreover, the video can only prove Panasonic Qingyun’s criminal act; at most, Panasonic Jun would be blad for poor guidance of his child, which wouldn’t harm him deeply but might corner him, causing drastic actions. It would also cause Mr. Panasonic to resent you for actions harmful to the family’s interests."

"So, if we move, it must be a lethal blow to Panasonic Jun, making Mr. Panasonic angry at your actions, but with no other choices but you to train for the sake of the family, so we must deliberate this matter further."

Like in ancient tis fighting for the throne, killing all capable brothers to leave the Emperor with no choice, for the sake of passing on the realm, the Emperor must grudgingly pass the throne to the parricidal son.

"Listening to your talk is truly better than reading ten years’ worth of books," Panasonic Jiezi, enlightened, bowed respectfully, "Thank you for your guidance, President."

"It’s about ti, we will discuss this matter in the internal eting of Xiongcheng Association, where we gather everyone’s wisdom and efforts," Aoyama Xiu Xin pondered and then spoke.

To topple a powerful judge.

That would be Xiongcheng Association’s first collective action.

Panasonic Jiezi responded excitedly, "Yes!"

Having an organization to rely on felt really good.

"Alright, you can go now. I’ll eat by myself," Aoyama Xiu Xin told Panasonic Jiezi.

He had been hungry all night.

Panasonic Jiezi stood up, bowed, and backed towards the door. He turned around at the doorway, opened the door, and left.

After eating and drinking his fill, Aoyama Xiu Xin made his way back ho.

"I’m back."

He called out as soon as he entered.

"Welco ho." Aoyama Haruko, wearing a white spaghetti strap dress, hurried to get his slippers, squatting down, her breasts supported by her knees, resembling bouncy jelly in the lace-fringed neckline.

Aoyama Xiu Xin couldn’t help but take an extra look.

Feeling his intense gaze, Aoyama Haruko blushed slightly and raised her head, coquettishly said, "Enough, what’s there to look at."

"A forest in horizontal view forms ridges, while from the side it turns into peaks; different heights can be seen from near and far. The true face of Mount Lu is lost to my sight; for it’s all within this dress," declaid Aoyama Xiu Xin, knowledgeable and versatile, as he shook his head reciting an ancient poem.

Mount Lu boasted beautiful scenery and even finer cuisine, yet according to Aoyama Xiu Xin, none could compare to the oysters from Rúshān.

Aoyama Haruko snorted and slapped his leg, then stood up and walked toward the living room.

Half her back was exposed, her smooth silk nightgown clinging to her skin, revealing unquestionably the full moon’s rounded silhouette. With the sway of the gown hem, flashes of her pale and plump thighs appeared and disappeared, truly stirring one’s heartstrings.

Aoyama Xiu Xin found himself craving the skins of the dumplings.

...

Upon opening his eyes, it was already the next day’s dawn.

A police officer being shot dead by another in full view of the public was an incident that could not be concealed.

Thus, rather than waiting for reporters to fabricate news based on snippets of overheard gossip, Police Headquarters proactively called a press conference early this morning to disclose the incident.

In the description given by the police personnel, Yokomaku Reihong, driven mad in his obsession to solve a case, had violently treated Ayase Yuki, who was wrongfully detained to confess to a cri. Due to her non-cooperation and subsequent brutal treatnt, she ultimately broke down and committed suicide.

After being flagged down by Ayase Ye crying injustice, Aoyama Xiu Xin took her to the Central Police Station to demand Yokomaku Reihong’s arrest, learning then of Ayase Yuki’s suicide. Yokomaku Reihong and his cohorts, in a desperate struggle, ard themselves attempting to take Aoyama Xiu Xin hostage and flee, but were eventually overtaken and Yokomaku was shot dead.

Ayase Ye’s mother also attended the press conference.

Out of gratitude toward Aoyama Xiu Xin and fearing the truth might hinder his future, she decided not to bring up the Asakawa Hospital incident but publicly upheld the police’s version of events and expressed her gratitude towards Aoyama Xiu Xin.

The spokesperson from Police Headquarters promised that, although Yokomaku Reihong was now dead, the officers involved in Ayase Yuki’s interrogation yesterday would be prosecuted and receive the punishnt they deserved.

Furthermore, a statent was made again: Police personnel must enforce the law correctly, adhere to relevant regulations, and not employ violent thods like coerced confessions or framing, welcoming everyone to report any similar violations to Police Headquarters at any ti.

Thus, while the citizens might be angered by the existence of a scoundrel like Yokomaku Reihong within Police Headquarters, they could also take solace from having a policeman like Aoyama Xiu Xin. With Police Headquarters maintaining a strong standing, there would not be indiscriminate criticism against the police force.

How to shepherd the people is a subject that rulers, dostic and foreign, have studied for thousands of years and will never be outdated.

"Knock, knock, knock."

Aoyama Xiu Xin knocked on the director’s office door.

"Co in."

He pushed open the door. "Director, you wanted to see ?"

"Yes, Xiu Xin, take a seat," said Renping Kuniaki with a smile, setting down the newspaper in his hand. "Rember when I applied to establish the Internet Security Departnt? Well, the police headquarters has been deliberating, and today the approval ca down, along with a grant. We’ll transfer so personnel from the forensic departnt to set the frawork and then recruit specialists from the public to fill it out."

"That’s wonderful," said Aoyama Xiu Xin.

Yet, he didn’t see how this related to him.

Although it was his suggestion, surely they wouldn’t transfer him from the Investigations Departnt to this new Internet Security Departnt? He had no technical skills! Of course, leadership didn’t need technical skills, just a knack for politics.

But he didn’t want to go, considering the Internet would still need another decade or two to mature, and the Investigative Departnt held more power and offered more opportunities for distinction.

"It is indeed," confird Renping Kuniaki, tapping a docunt on the desk. "The Internet Security Departnt is just starting, and its impact is uncertain—it’s experintal. Since you initiated it, you’ll take responsibility for it as the acting head of the departnt."

"Eh?" Aoyama Xiu Xin barely managed to control his expression because that reasoning was quite forced.

Renping Kuniaki felt it was forced too; this was rely a temporary solution since there was no opportunity to promote Aoyama Xiu Xin at the mont. Hence, they were finding ways to increase his authority. It was unprecedented in the Police Headquarters for one person to head two departnts.

He even suspected that the sudden approval of the application was related to Aoyama Xiu Xin.

His gaze toward Aoyama Xiu Xin was complex.

Aoyama Xiu Xin, looking bewildered, said, "Director, what is this? This... this doesn’t make sense."

"I found out that Asakawa Mingyang had a eting with our director yesterday," explained Renping Kuniaki, then quickly added, "Asakawa Mingyang is the vice-minister of the Economic Planning Bureau."

The Economic Planning Bureau was responsible for setting national economic policies and long-term economic planning, holding significant power.

People without backgrounds need to follow logic.

But those with connections don’t have to be reasonable.

Aoyama Xiu Xin suddenly understood; this must be the favor Asakawa Xia had promised him.

Considering her nature, it was exactly sothing she would do.

He suddenly felt that Asakawa Xia, as a sister-in-law, was tolerable.

"Xiu Xin, many people are helping you; don’t let everyone down," said Renping Kuniaki.

Aoyama Xiu Xin replied earnestly, "Yes!"

"Alright, get busy then. Focus on the investigation of the attempted assassination of the Crown Prince. I’ll let you know once the funding and the office for the Internet Security Departnt are ready."

"Yes!" After bowing, Aoyama Xiu Xin left.

On his way to the office, musing over how he should thank Asakawa Xia, after all, she and Yanchuan Xianyou would be a couple, a family. How could he be biased against her just because of his brother’s words?

Their issues were dostic disputes.

What did they have to do with an outsider like him?

He had been too unfair before! Ti for reflection!

No helping it, Sister-in-law had so truly tempting "thighs"; he loved the scent of the power they emanated (づ◡ど).

Just arriving at his office door, Fujiwara Takahiro, who had been waiting outside, approached briskly with a stack of docunts.

"Officer, we’ve found them. These individuals are frequently in touch with the assassins of the Crown Prince."
