"Has the Director ever considered taking matters into his own hands now?"
Aoyama Xiu Xin looked at Renping Kuniaki with a smiling face and an expression that said he’d been wanting to hit him for a long ti.
"Hmph, I only hope that you keep your promise! Once you’re promoted to Police Headquarters, let this matter be done with."
Renping Kuniaki certainly wasn’t going to give Aoyama Xiu Xin the chance to beat him up and spoke coldly with a sullen face.
"Elena, take the man away and hand him over to Yamakawa Ichiro," Aoyama Xiu Xin ordered without looking back.
"Yes, sir," Elena responded, turned towards the Bearded Man, bent down to grab him by the collar, lifted him up, and began dragging him out.
The Bearded Man struggled continuously, pleadingly looking at Aoyama Xiu Xin and shaking his head again and again. Muffled noises ca from his gagged mouth: "Mmm mmm mmm!"
Clearly, he was begging for rcy and trying to admit his mistake, but Aoyama Xiu Xin didn’t care what he said; his existence was just to threaten Renping Kuniaki and help himself get promoted.
Once he would be promoted to Police Headquarters, the Bearded Man would have to disappear; after all, Aoyama Xiu Xin also feared that the Bearded Man would fall into Renping Kuniaki’s hands, so the best way was to erase him from this world after he had served his purpose.
An hour later, police and reporters from Tokyo had surrounded the Qiutian Tea House completely, the red and blue flashing lights of police cars illuminating the dark night sky.
Aoyama Xiu Xin and Renping Kuniaki were surrounded by emotionally charged reporters, ard with long and short caras.
Renping Kuniaki addressed the caras with ease.
"After the establishnt of the Special Investigation Headquarters, we imdiately conducted an in-depth investigation into the two consecutive murder cases and identified the suspects as Xiao Chi Pinggu and Shanshang Cheyun, forr police officers dismissed for corruption, but their whereabouts remained unknown."
"For this case, Police Chief Aoyama and I had sleepless nights, agreeing to et here for tea and to discuss the next steps of the investigation. But to our surprise, we encountered the two right here!"
"Fearing that delay could lead to complications, Police Chief Aoyama and I decided to take a risk and carry out the arrests directly. After a tough struggle, we finally subdued the two. The details of the case will be disclosed when it’s closed."
Even though he didn’t manage to catch the Bearded Man, this trip wasn’t in vain; at least they had solved the case of the serial dismbernt murderer, and he could claim the credit for making the arrest.
"To catch the two, the Director didn’t hesitate to put himself in danger. I was really worried at the ti, afraid sothing would happen to him, but as it turns out, he’s still as sharp as ever, singlehandedly subduing one of them," Aoyama Xiu Xin echoed from the side.
"Ha ha ha ha, don’t listen to Police Chief Aoyama’s nonsense. The success of the arrest is largely due to him. At my age, I was only assisting from the side," Renping Kuniaki said laughingly.
Though there was bad blood between them, at this mont, both were giving each other face, showering each other with praise.
After all, their conflicts were just an internal power struggle. When fooling the citizens, they stood united. How could a small group of officials govern the majority of citizens if they weren’t united internally?
A reporter asked, "Were you two not afraid when you were alone against two such brutal and twisted murderers?"
"Scared! Of course, I was scared! But despite the fear, we had to bite the bullet and go on, it’s our duty. Like those police officers who died in the line of duty, were they not afraid before an operation? They were, but they never retreated! Although I mostly sit in an office now, as a policeman, catching criminals is my bounden duty!" Renping Kuniaki said with conviction.
"Applause."
The entire audience burst into applause.
A reporter asked Aoyama Xiu Xin, "The situation must have been dangerous at the ti, can Police Chief Aoyama describe it? The citizens would surely like to know."
"To tell the truth, I don’t rember much," Aoyama Xiu Xin shook his head helplessly, smiling, "At that ti, all I could think about was catching them, so I was sowhat dazed. By the ti I ca to my senses, I had already subdued the two. When your mind is filled only with a sense of duty, you forget about the danger and fear."
"Applause."
Thunderous applause erupted once again.
"Okay, thank you, everyone. That’s all for today’s interview. More details will be disclosed at the press conference once the case is closed."
Renping Kuniaki and Aoyama Xiu Xin bowed and then got into the car, escorted by police officers, leaving the reporters behind.
"You must make them confess, and they can’t speak nonsense in court," Renping Kuniaki said with a dark expression the mont they were in the car.
Although they had made the arrests, and the two had verbally admitted to being the murderers, they had no evidence.
"Hey, these guys don’t care about their own lives anymore; we can only deal with their families. I believe they’ll compromise," Aoyama Xiu Xin replied.
The reason Xiao Chi Pinggu and Shanshang Cheyun only killed corrupt officials was that they still had so sense of justice. A person with a sense of justice is naturally kind and how could they bear to implicate their families because of their own issues?
That’s why good people are easy to handle.
After arriving at Police Headquarters, Aoyama Xiu Xin personally interrogated Xiao Chi Pinggu and Shanshang Cheyun throughout the night, questioning both together, after all, it was just a threat.
"We won’t confess, you have no evidence at all, you can’t convict us."
Xiao Chi Pinggu spoke with a mocking tone.
"You know, your parents are no spring chickens. If they go to prison, I wonder if they can even make it out alive," said Xiu Xin Aoyama leisurely.
Xiao Chi and Shanshang turned livid, slamd the desk, and stood up furiously, "Bastard! If you’ve got an issue, take it up with us! What kind of skill is it to bully our families? Despicable and shaless! What makes you any different from a beast?"
"If you’ve already called despicable, then this kind of thing isn’t despicable to ," Xiu Xin Aoyama shrugged showing a mocking smile, leaned back, and crossed his legs, "Parents don’t expect much achievent from you, let alone repaynt, but surely you can’t let them end up in prison. If you do, you’d be worse than ; at least I don’t do such things."
"Damn you to hell!" Xiao Chi Pinggu, hands braced on the table, glared venomously at Xiu Xin Aoyama, and said word by word, "Harm should not co to one’s family. Have you ever thought that this day might co for you? If soone used your parents..."
"I don’t have a mother," Xiu Xin Aoyama shrugged.
He was an orphan in his past life, and in this life, his parents had passed away early, so this threat didn’t work on him.
Xiao Chi Pinggu was suddenly at a loss for words, gasping for breath and unable to speak. Facing soone who openly declared he had no mother, any words seed powerless and pale.
"If you don’t confess, or talk nonsense in the courtroom after confessing, your parents might end up in prison for various reasons. I’m just putting it out there," Xiu Xin Aoyama tapped on the table.
Xiao Chi Pinggu and Shanshang Cheyun clenched their teeth and glared at him, red-eyed and silent.
Xiu Xin Aoyama continued the pressure, "You killed an official. Ever heard of officials protecting each other? As long as you confess and submit to punishnt, no official will care whether the process was just or not, nor will anyone inquire into the thods I used to make you confess, got it?"
Officials might destroy each other physically in intense infighting, but an ordinary person daring to kill an official would be intolerable to all officials.
"I’ll give you one night to think, not for yourselves, but for your family."
Xiu Xin Aoyama’s words fell, and he got up to leave.
"Son of a bitch!" Shanshang Cheyun cursed angrily.
Xiu Xin Aoyama paused, looked back with a slight smile, and said, "You’re right, but in this world, only bastards like thrive. anwhile, you ’righteous’ people are now convicts."
Tornting these patriotic little Japs was indeed entertaining. He intended to leave the country filled with people like him, whose minds were consud by power and self-interest.
No, his mind wasn’t full of self-interest; he tornted these miscreants for the good of the country, which made his actions just to the rest of the world.
"The country is in this state because of bastards like you!" Shanshang Cheyun, emotionally agitated, slamd the table and roared hysterically.
Xiu Xin Aoyama laughed mirthfully, adjusted his tie, and returned to the interrogation table before them. Leaning over the table, he looked down at both n and asked, "Doesn’t this clarify that we are the true masters of this country? If we ruin what’s ours, why should an outsider like you care?"
Shanshang Cheyun and Xiao Chi Pinggu were so furious they were trembling all over, panting like bulls, teeth gritted, "Japan belongs to all Japanese people!"
"Oh? Does it, now? You want this country to prosper, but has it prospered? I want this country to fail, and I have the power to ruin it, so who is really the master of this country?" There was an obvious playful look in Xiu Xin Aoyama’s eyes.
Looking at the young traitor before them, though Shanshang Cheyun and Xiao Chi Pinggu were itching to tear him apart, they were rendered speechless by his retort.
"Nonsense, utterly ridiculous," Xiu Xin Aoyama comnted scornfully and turned to slam the door as he left.
Another day of Mr. Aoyama upholding justice.
----------------------------------------
The next day, the morning news reported the previous night’s incident of Xiu Xin Aoyama and Renping Kuniaki capturing the dismbernt killer, shocking and disappointing the nation that the culprit was caught so quickly, further proving Xiu Xin Aoyama’s reputation as Heisei’s No.1 Detective.
And as the Director, Renping Kuniaki’s heroism, risking his life, was discussed by countless citizens.
The mber of the Special Investigation Departnt sent by Xiu Xin Aoyama to Aichi Prefecture to investigate Shanshang Cheyun and Xiao Chi Pinggu only learned from the morning news that these two had been caught by Xiu Xin Aoyama and Renping Kuniaki the night before.
He was baffled: without a clue on his end, how had they already gathered the evidence to make an arrest? Had they found evidence that quickly?
He called Xiu Xin Aoyama for instructions, asking whether he should continue the investigation in Aichi Prefecture.
Xiu Xin Aoyama told him to co back and to bring back an item belonging to the parents of Shanshang Cheyun and Xiao Chi Pinggu from their hos, claiming it was needed to persuade them to confess.
At noon, once he received the ntos from the Special Investigation Headquarters officer who had brought them from Aichi Prefecture, Xiu Xin Aoyama imdiately took them to the interrogation room to influence (intimidate) the two n.
They were already on the verge of breaking down without giving in, and upon seeing their parents’ belongings, they thought the police had taken the opportunity to arrest them.
Shocked and angered, they cried out loud and confessed on their own, begging for their family not to be hard.
As for the evidence, several pieces were fabricated that day with the cooperation of the two, such as the knife used to kill and the axe used to dismber, and so on...
In the afternoon, the case report was delivered to Renping Kuniaki’s desk, and the rest was no longer Xiu Xin Aoyama’s concern. There was a minor incident that day as well.
Deputy Director Dubian Xiang from the Public Security First Class was taken away by the local prosecution due to economic issues.
Upon hearing the news from Suzuki Daohiro, Xiu Xin Aoyama regretfully smiled, imdiately drove to the Tokyo District Court, and paid a visit to his unt colleague.
