Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too Chapter 161: I Won’t Let You Lose Again
Jane Shea took off her sunglasses and walked straight to the two people before her. Her face was adorned with exquisite makeup, still boldly beautiful.
Seeing her, Miles Monroe’s expression darkened, "Why did you co here?"
Jane smiled at him, her gaze gentle, "Didn’t you say your grandfather was ill? I don’t have any filming schedule today, so I ca to see him."
Jane’s gaze fell on Vera Yves’ face, "If you had told in advance that Vera would be here, I would have avoided this, but since your engagent has been canceled, Vera shouldn’t mind, right?"
Vera’s deanor was indifferent, "I don’t know you well, so please call Vera Yves. I have things to do, so I’m leaving."
"Miles, which room is Grandpa in? Would you take inside?"
Vera had already reached the elevator. She pressed the elevator button, listening to Jane’s intimate tone, feeling a bit blocked inside. The elevator door opened, and she hurried in as if escaping.
She pressed the button for the first floor and leaned in a corner, her gaze focused on the elevator buttons. Just as the elevator door was closing, Miles stepped in quickly.
Vera looked at him, sowhat surprised.
The elevator door slowly closed, and Miles cornered her in one aspect of the elevator, leaving her no room to escape, "Vera, I didn’t deliberately tell her about Grandpa being sick."
Vera was silent for a mont, "You don’t need to explain to ."
Miles looked at her sowhat pale face and spoke softly, "In the future, I won’t let you lose again."
Vera avoided his gaze, and with a "ding," the elevator door opened.
Vera said coldly, "It doesn’t an anything anymore."
Vera pushed him aside and walked straight out; she no longer had the courage to gamble once more.
Returning to the clinic, Vera saw Henry Sterling standing outside the clinic door, looking at her politely, "Miss Yves, Mr. Shelby wants to see you."
Vera responded with no particular expression, "I see no need to et Mr. Shelby."
Henry laughed lightly, "Miss Yves, I wouldn’t mind asking you over."
Vera glanced at Henry, whose smile didn’t reach his eyes. Everyone in Imperia knew Henry Sterling was linda Shelby’s right-hand man, and they knew this man was always ruthless in his dealings; few dared to offend him.
Ultimately, Vera followed him into the car.
The car stopped at the garden villa.
This was linda Shelby and Tristan Valentine’s marital ho, but the couple had rarely returned in recent years.
Henry brought Vera into the living room and then turned to leave.
linda was brewing tea unhurriedly, pouring two cups only after she lifted her gaze to Vera, "Sit down and have a cup of tea; Winston brought this white tea back for from The South while on a business trip recently, the taste is quite good."
"Mr. Shelby, whatever you want to say, feel free to speak directly; don’t waste ti."
linda seated herself on the sofa and spoke slowly, "Vera, do you know who you’re talking to?"
"I’m already unrelated to The Valentine Family."
"Since you know you’re unrelated to The Valentine Family, you should understand that now, crushing you and crushing The Yves Family is as simple as crushing an ant."
linda picked up the teacup, gently slling the tea aroma, "Do you think Winston can protect you?"
"Why do you target like this?"
linda gave her a disdainful glance, her eyes undisguised in scorn, "Relying on a bit of beauty to spin n around, do you think you can still marry into The Valentine Family?"
Vera’s expression was indifferent, "Rest assured, Mr. Shelby, I have no intention of remarrying Winston Valentine."
linda took a sip of tea, speaking lazily, "Is that so? Then why do you keep leading him on?"
"I haven’t!" Vera furrowed her brows, "I’m just helping him heal."
"What a grand excuse." linda stared coldly at her, "Just like the excuse of being drunken back then; this ti, you don’t even need to lace his drink, he’s already smitten and disoriented by you, isn’t it satisfying?"
"Mr. Shelby, I have no interest in your son!"
linda stood up, "I hope you an what you say; it’d better be that you stay as far from my son as possible. If you dare seduce him again, I’ll make you and The Yves Family disappear from this world completely!"
Seeing the cold and arrogant look in linda’s eyes, Vera clenched her hands tightly, "Instead of preaching to , Mr. Shelby, you might as well control your son!"
linda said indifferently, "For a woman like you, it’s not worth falling out with him."
Leaving the villa, Vera still felt a chill all over.
The car stopped by the roadside, and Vera got out, imdiately seeing the man waiting at the entrance of the clinic.
Winston evidently had been waiting for a while; his face was sowhat pale. Seeing Vera, he coughed several tis, "Vera, I seem to have caught a cold, my head is spinning badly."
Vera opened the clinic door, and they walked inside, one after the other.
"Winston Valentine, you shouldn’t co looking for anymore."
Winston was silent for a mont before saying unemotionally, "Vera, you promised to heal ."
"Don’t you think you’re coming to too often?" Vera sat on a chair, "I’ve helped heal you to this extent, but that doesn’t an you can only recover to this extent. You should seek another expert."
"What are your grounds for going back on your word?"
"What are your grounds for creating the illusion we’re reconciling?"
Winston walked to her side, looking down at her, "I can’t control what others say!"
"You’re shaless!" Vera discontentedly pushed him, "You’re taking advantage of your power! Did you already figure out I couldn’t do anything about you?"
Winston seized her hand along with her montum, "Vera, if I were truly using power, I have ways to make you remarry !"
Vera couldn’t help but recall linda’s words and looked at him angrily, "Then I’m really curious, what ways do you have? Using The Yves Family to threaten ? What do people like you see in people like ?"
Seeing her eyes redden, Winston’s gaze softened a bit, "Vera, I..."
"You didn’t want kids, so you forced to abort! You thought I was beneath you, so you could neglect and sha for the woman you loved!"
Vera looked at him, her eyes filled with hatred, "Now you think you’ve fallen in love with , so it doesn’t matter whether I want it or not, no matter how other people perceive , you can brazenly harass !"
Tears slid down from the corner of her eye, "My feelings have never been important in your eyes; people like , in your opinion, don’t even deserve dignity, right?"
Winston reached out to wipe the tears on her cheeks, "Vera, I admit that when we first got married, I did have so misconceptions about you, but I thought back then that you had Miles Monroe in your heart; my pride wouldn’t let please a woman with soone else in her heart!"
Vera avoided his hand, but Winston cupped her cheeks, looking at her tenderly, "Do you know that every ti I hold you, how fulfilled my body feels and how scared my heart becos? I didn’t want kids, not because I thought you were unfit, but because I don’t want my child to live like , in a loveless ho."
Vera’s gaze stirred.
Winston neared her, his warm breath brushing her cheek, "I’ll learn to respect you and consider your feelings, is that alright?"
