Since the base on the moon where experints on the Láspi were taking place had been destroyed, all projects regarding the alien were moved to a nearby space station. The Aegis Corps had tons of them floating around, so it was easy to move everything.
On board that space station were ten people, all of them being the Láspi. How was this possible? It was simple. When the Láspi broke free from its restraints and started attacking the lab, it sent tiny strands of itself to the people who were conducting experints on it.
Because the Láspi was gaining intelligence at a fast pace, it made sure to have a backup plan in case anything went wrong, and luckily, it had ten.
Using its impressive adaptation and evolution, it was able to perfectly copy the biology of the people it dissolved and completely beco them. This included their mories, behavior, and even powers if they absorbed a woman.
Because of that, they were indistinguishable from humans.
"We need to find a way to make the Aegis Corps look toward the other asteroids." The Láspi spoke. Technically, it was speaking to itself, but through its evolution, it realized that speaking to other people was better than speaking to itself, even though it was still itself.
The other Láspi in a different body responded. "The asteroid we were on has that tal on it. Why don’t we say we found more of that tal?"
"Great idea!" The Láspi responded.
All of them, or it, made sure not to be together at the sa ti. They were in pairs, which made things look normal.
"Hey, you two." A woman in charge of the departnt where the Láspi worked ca up to them. "The director wants the files about everything we have on the Láspi bastards."
"We’ll be right with you." One Láspi closed the door and turned off all caras while the other one attacked.
"Hey! What are-ARGHHHHH!"
After an agonizing few minutes, the woman died, and the Láspi took her spot.
"Ah. Her position will be extrely helpful to being our people here."
"Here is all of the information. Give it to her and suggest exploring the other asteroids."
"Got it."
After leaving the lab, the Láspi, with the digital files in hand, went to Director Trinity’s office.
"Ahh, you’re here. Do you have what I asked for?"
"Yes, Director. Here." The Láspi handed her the files.
"Thank you."
"Excuse , Director, if I may. I would like to suggest sothing."
Trinity nodded. "Go ahead."
"I’m sure you got the report from the planet about the silver tal and how it can boost powers, right?"
"I did. What are you suggesting?"
"Well, check this out." The Láspi took out a data pad and set it on the table. After clicking a button, a map of the solar system ca into view.
"The science team that was studying the Láspi managed to find a piece of that tal in it. After extraction, they tested it and scanned to see if there was more of it in space. They found these locations." Hundreds of asteroids were marked green.
Trinity stood up. She only thought the asteroid with the Láspi on it was the only one that had the rare tal on it.
"This...This is great news! Wait. What if there are other Láspi on those asteroids? We would struggle to fight them as we are now."
"We took that into account as well." The Láspi slipped up, but luckily, Trinity didn’t hear that since she was too focused on learning more.
"The asteroids marked in red are the ones we need to steer clear of."
Trinity nodded with excitent on her face. This tal was sothing that anyone would want to get their hands on. Not only was it crucial to make won more powerful, but it was extrely expensive, so if it were sold, the Aegis Corps would get a ton of money.
"Good, have the space team double-check everything. I’ll contact Mrs Horton and speak to her about this."
"Understood."
The Láspi thought about taking over Trinity’s body, but she was too strong. Though her power wasn’t that effective because of the Láspi’s adaptation, she was strong enough to keep them off her own body.
Instead, the Láspi went after the space team and took all of them over because if they did double-check the data, they would notice that things were off.
"Now, we wait."
---
"Are you sure?" Mrs Horton asked
"Yes. I just had my space team double-check everything."
"Trinity, why do you keep calling them the space team? They’re the astrology team."
"I know, but they deal with space. So it’s the space team. Anyway, if we can get our hands on more of this tal, then we can probably have a better chance at beating these alien parasites. My team found out that there are more traces of them in the asteroid belt."
"I see. I’ll go ahead and authorize this expedition. There is literally no downside to not doing so. Just stay safe."
"Understood. Oh, why don’t I bring that Jin boy along?" Trinity asked
"Ahh, well, he’s not speaking to at the mont."
"Why not? Aren’t you his boss?"
"Technically, I’m not. He’s a free agent. He was already upset with because of his mother. She was a part of the Won’s Enhancent program. A survivor."
"Oh." Trinity knew what happened to those who survived.
"Yeah. And he’s extrely upset with because I went after that Láspi he sent away. The one that you all were researching."
"Honestly, I would be upset with you as well. Especially after telling you not to go after it."
"I get it, but I was hoping he would see the bigger picture. My father would." She voiced that last part to herself under her breath.
"Well, thanks for greenlighting this operation. I’ll let you know when we get our hands on that precious tal. Oh, by the way, how are things coming along with the weapons using this new material?"
"Oof." Mrs Horton leaned back in her chair. "It’s pretty tough to cut through, and its lting point is extrely high. We’ve managed to make so bracelets, and we’re field testing them right now, but that’s about it. I’ll let you know when we have more to work with."
"Okay, see ya."
