As she walked out of the café, it was unknowingly close to dusk outside.
The breeze brushed against her face, making her feel a bit chilly. Charlotte Thompson tidied up the stray hairs by her temples, and just then, her phone in her pocket rang.
It was Justin Battleson calling.
"Where are you?"
Charlotte couldn’t tell if it was her imagination, but Justin’s voice sounded sowhat deep.
"Just about to head back." Charlotte glanced at the ti on her phone and answered softly.
"Give the address, I’ll co pick you up."
Charlotte looked around and didn’t refuse Justin, so she told him her location.
After hanging up, Charlotte stood by the roadside and saw a café not far away. Thinking Justin would take so ti to arrive from the company, she planned to go there to buy a cup of coffee.
But Charlotte didn’t expect that just as she was about to go, a black sedan stopped in front of her.
When the car window lowered, revealing Justin’s face, Charlotte blinked in surprise.
"How did you get here so quickly? Were you nearby just now?"
After getting into the car, Charlotte turned her head to ask the strangely curious question to Justin beside her.
Justin responded softly, his expression unchanged.
He lowered his head and held Charlotte’s fingertips in his palm, but upon noticing her empty fingers, Justin’s eyes flickered slightly.
"Why did you co here alone?"
Hearing Justin’s question, Charlotte moved her gaze from the window back inside: "I went to the mall for a bit... then I found out there’s a restaurant nearby, so I ca over."
When Charlotte said this, she hesitated slightly, ultimately choosing not to tell Justin about her eting with Leon Battleson.
Charlotte thought to herself that she and Leon wouldn’t have any more connections in the future anyway, and if she told Justin about what Leon said today, he would probably be furious.
Better let it go.
As Charlotte glanced up, her gaze fell on Justin’s tie. She tilted her head thoughtfully but didn’t notice the downturn in Justin’s mouth.
He asked in a clear voice, "Did you want to buy sothing, so you went to the mall? If there’s anything you want, I can get it for you."
Upon hearing Justin’s words, Charlotte’s body stiffened slightly, and she quickly waved her hand at him.
"Ah... I was just bored, wandering around. Oh right..."
As Charlotte was preparing to change the topic, her words were interrupted by the notification sound of Justin’s phone.
Justin glanced at the ssage and his brows furrowed, indicating sothing was amiss.
Charlotte quietly breathed a sigh of relief, only to see Justin’s troubled expression when she looked up, prompting her to ask worriedly, "What’s happened?"
"An artist from the company had a minor accident on set, I have to go check it out," Justin replied solemnly.
Charlotte blinked, as if a question was on the tip of her tongue, but she ultimately chose not to ask it.
After dropping Charlotte off at the villa, Justin hurried to the set.
The children had been staying at Stardust Garden these past few days, and as Charlotte thought about going to see them, she found her fingertips stained with sothing as she lowered her head to enter the villa.
Upon closer inspection, Charlotte discovered it was actually a bloodstain!
This startled Charlotte, but she imdiately thought that it might have rubbed off during her contact with Leon.
After washing her hands, Charlotte returned to the study, looked up so docunts, and started working on sothing she had been preparing for a long ti.
