"I rember, you never actually held a wedding, so how can you be considered a married couple?"
The wound on his arm had already been treated, but Leon Battleson had no intention of retracting his arm. Instead, he propped his cheek with the other hand, looking at Charlotte Thompson with great interest.
Then, his gaze fell on Charlotte’s curled fingers.
"What’s more, you don’t even have a ring."
Hearing this, Charlotte couldn’t help but press her thumb against the base of her finger, quietly rubbing it.
In fact, Justin Battleson had previously given her a ring, which Charlotte wore all the ti. However, earlier today, while she was at the mall, her fingers accidentally got stained, so she took off the ring to wipe it clean.
But Charlotte never had the habit of wearing these accessories for long. After taking off the ring, she forgot about it.
The ring, at this mont, should still be quietly lying in her car.
After seeing the expression on Leon’s face, Charlotte opened her mouth, trying to find so words to counter, but gradually, she realized that whatever she said would likely be irrelevant to Leon.
"I’ll try my best."
True to this, Leon tilted his head, his gaze fixed on Charlotte’s face.
"I will strive for the day you’ll see in your eyes. As for Justin, my brother... you’ve already had a failed marriage. Why, starting anew, would you still choose him? Sotis, isn’t having more options better?"
In Leon’s beautiful pupils, different emotions flickered.
"But I’ve already made my choice," Charlotte responded coldly.
"Miss Thompson, your words are truly cutting. I’m injured now and quite vulnerable, but it’s okay. Before things settle, there will be countless possibilities."
Leon used his fingers to prop up his chin, seeming to ponder sothing before continuing.
"However, compared to Miss Thompson, I seem to prefer another form of address."
At this point, Leon paused slightly, giving Charlotte a sudden sense of foreboding.
His lips parted slightly, forming two words.
"Sister."
Charlotte looked at Leon in front of her, but felt that the emotions revealed in his eyes at that mont were extrely complex.
But no matter what, Charlotte knew very well that Leon’s thoughts were far more complex than she imagined.
"Mr. Battleson."
Charlotte stood up directly, looking down at Leon sitting in the chair.
"Whatever your ga is, I’m sorry, I have no interest in participating."
After speaking, Charlotte turned away without looking back.
Once Charlotte’s figure completely disappeared from his sight, whatever smile was originally on Leon’s face vanished in the blink of an eye.
He relaxed his body against the back of the chair, and a shadow gradually spread over his brow.
Then his tongue lightly pressed against his palate, a small motion that expressed his inner dissatisfaction at that mont.
Leon seed to respond with a hint of impatience.
Afterward, he glanced sidelong at the wound on his forearm that had been treated, finally raising his eyebrows ever so slightly.
"Acting is such a hassle... what to do in the future then?"
