771: Chapter 771: The Origin of the Curse 771: Chapter 771: The Origin of the Curse A long, long ti ago, Qian Ye had beco an Empress.

During her rule, Qian Ye’s ancient kingdom and the surrounding nations were at odds, and wars happened frequently.

One ti, Qian Ye personally led a campaign with her troops, intending to launch a surprise attack on the enemy through a primitive forest.

Qian Ye didn’t expect to find an ancient town in such a desolate primal forest.

And the inhabitants of this ancient town, having lived for generations in the primal forest, knew the area well.

Therefore, Qian Ye promised that if the townsfolk would guide them, they would be handsoly rewarded.

However, much to Qian Ye’s surprise, the townsfolk betrayed her and led her army into an enemy ambush.

Qian Ye’s army suffered heavy casualties, and she was nearly pierced by an arrow.

Qian Ye was furious and ordered the entire town to be slaughtered, not sparing the n, won, the elderly, or even the children.

Still unsatisfied, Qian Ye then cursed the inhabitants of the town, trapping them eternally in the primal forest, denying them any possibility of reincarnation.

Now, the people of the mysterious ancient town finally knew that the person standing before them was the one who had cursed them long ago.

Fear welled up within them again, and they had no choice but to bow their heads in obedience.

However, Qian Ye didn’t rember doing this.

It must have happened; she thought, after returning to the past and swapping back with Lin Xi.

Only then would she lead the army, pass through the primal forest, and encounter this ancient town.

While Qian Ye secretly observed Gu Fan’s actions, she questioned, “What’s the point of abducting people regularly, using magic to separate their heads from their bodies?”

The townsfolk replied, “We’ve been trying to find a way to break the curse, so we’ve been using people for experints.”

“I see,” Qian Ye replied nonchalantly.

“However, you won’t need to go through all this trouble in the future.

As long as you obey and work for , I will lift the curse.” Qian Ye then added with a stern voice, “If you don’t find a way quickly, this Gu Fan will escape, and you will lose the only chance to break the curse.”

“Okay, we will do it right away.” The townsfolk receded quickly, with a sinister smile curling up on Qian Ye’s corner of the lips.

At this ti, Gu Fan still didn’t know what was going on.

He was being led by seven headless people to an altar, where many strangely dressed people were worshiping.

Upon closer observation, Gu Fan noticed seven heads placed on the altar table, of which, two were those of Zhang Yang and Yang Xinran.

However, their eyes were closed, as if they were sleeping.

Gu Fan didn’t rush forward.

He crossed his arms and furrowed his eyebrows.

Even if all the heads were found, Gu Fan, who didn’t understand any witchcraft, still didn’t know how to put people’s heads back to their bodies.

“Why don’t you take your heads yourselves and try putting them back on?” Gu Fan ca up with the idea.

He thought that there was no reason they would give all the heads back so easily.

But the seven headless people dared not approach.

They would have fought back and recovered their heads if they had the power.

Out of ideas, Gu Fan couldn’t help complaining, “Qian Ye, where on earth are you when I need you most?”

“Did you call for ?” Qian Ye suddenly appeared right next to Gu Fan, almost causing him to jump in fright.

“You cannot just appear out of nowhere like that; it scares .”

Qian Ye looked at him disdainfully: “You’re not that timid, are you?

I can’t believe my reincarnation would choose soone as faint-hearted as you.”

Gu Fan imdiately retorted, “Being startled has nothing to do with being brave or timid.

Everyone has their startled monts, especially in tis like this.”

“Alright, alright, it’s my fault.

I shouldn’t have appeared so suddenly.

It made you lose face,” Qian Ye made a facetious apology, which irritated Gu Fan.

Nevertheless, he pointed at the seven heads on the altar and said, “I know what these guys are up to.

Can you recover those heads and put them back in their place?”

“Well, it’s possible.

But it seems difficult,” said Qian Ye pretending to be troubled.

“Alright, let’s go.” Gu Fan decided to take a leap of faith.

He looked at Qian Ye with an expression that suggested that everything now depended on her.

Qian Ye made signs with her hands as if preparing to cast a spell.

The magic was reflected by a protective barrier around the altar and ended up hitting Qian Ye.

Qian Ye was blown away, coughing up blood, and then she fainted.

“Wait, how could she lose so quickly?

No wonder she chose to hide.” Gu Fan’s heart sank, feeling that the situation was difficult.

The people on the altar stood up.

With solemn steps, more than thirty individuals descended from the altar and approached Gu Fan.

Knowing that he was not a match for them and had no intention to confront them directly, Gu Fan thought of escaping.

But when he turned around, he saw other townspeople blocking his exit.

They stayed on both his left and right.

Soon, Gu Fan realized that he had been surrounded without knowing it.

He quickly took out a flare gun and shot three signal flares into the sky, symbolizing an urgent situation and a call for backup.

An elderly man with white hair said indifferently, “Young man, once you’re here, you should stay.

Offer your head and beco one of them.”

“Sorry, I’ve been assigned a mission.

I will live until I’ve accomplished it,” Gu Fan said confidently.

He believed he could still survive this ordeal.

The elderly man said, “Perhaps your mission is to co here and offer your head.”

Gu Fan shrugged off the old man’s words casually, “How’s that possible?

There’s no connection between this and what I’ve experienced in the past.”

“Enough with the talking.

Capture him,” a few residents of the ancient town beca impatient.

They rushed toward Gu Fan to seize him.

Gu Fan saw that the people coming from the altar’s direction were the fewest.

He figured out that the key to solving this all was most likely at the altar.

Therefore, before the opponent’s encirclent closed in, he twirled around and sprinted towards the altar.

“Stop him!” Realizing Gu Fan’s intention, the old man imdiately shouted urgently.

However, Gu Fan ran at a remarkable speed.

He threw punches, delivered kicks, dropkicked, and even shoulder-threw.

He made full use of every available technique, striding forward amid the enemy’s ongoing obstruction.

The seven headless people were overlooked, and the ancient townsfolk only had eyes for Gu Fan.

They surged from all directions, desperately trying to stop him.

“Get out of my way!” Gu Fan managed an elegant triple air-kick tearing the wall of people apart, and then rushed towards the altar.
