729: Chapter 729: Things to Worry About 729: Chapter 729: Things to Worry About When Su Hui arrived at her place with a heavy heart, she saw the lights on in the window and could hear the voices of Gu Fan and Lin Xi.

Upon opening the door, Su Hui walked in to find Gu Fan and Lin Xi cooking together, their cooperation seamless and the atmosphere incredibly joyful, both of them deeply engrossed in their task.

“Sister Su, you’re back.

You must be exhausted from work, co sit down,” Lin Xi greeted, asking Su Hui to sit down.

Su Hui smiled gently and took a seat at the dining table.

Busy at work, Gu Fan said, “Sister Su, you must be hungry.

Just wait a little longer; I’ll have a feast ready for you very soon.”

“Alright, no hurry.” Su Hui, intrigued, couldn’t help but ask, “Why are you two so free today, working in the kitchen together?”

Lin Xi replied, “We decided to do this on a whim.

Since we’ve been rather free lately, I thought it’d be good to learn so cooking.”

Upon hearing this, Su Hui narrowed her eyes.

Her gaze, filled with deep aning, made Lin Xi blush and awkwardly retort, “Why are you looking at like that, Sister Su?”

With a grin, Su Hui began teasing, “It seems like you’re prepared to be a good wife.

Should I be congratulating you and Gu Fan ahead of ti?”

Quick to clarify, Lin Xi explained, “Sister Su, don’t misinterpret.

Being able to cook is an essential life skill and has nothing to do with whether one can be a good wife.”

“Oh, is that so?

You both have your diplomas now, right?

You can get registered, legally stay together,” Su Hui’s comnt left both Gu Fan and Lin Xi feeling bashful.

Su Hui suddenly thought of sothing, “What’s the matter, Lin Xi, you haven’t been to Gu Fan’s place for a long ti, is it because your parents don’t allow it?”

These words struck a nerve with Lin Xi.

She gave a dry laugh, and with an air of painful reminiscence, said, “Well, Sister Su, you wouldn’t know.

After I went back, I got a thorough scolding from my parents.

They suspected that I had been living at Gu Fan’s place and were unhappy thinking that we were actually together.

They truly didn’t let out of the house.

It was only after almost resorting to a pregnancy test that they finally believed and let go.”

Unable to hold back her laughter, Su Hui said, “A parent’s heart aches for their child.

Your parents are just worried about you being taken advantage of.”

“I know that my parents care about , so I didn’t argue with them.

Luckily, they let out,” Lin Xi sighed.

It seed like getting past her parents was quite a challenge.

At this mont, Su Hui looked at Gu Fan again, her lips curving into a smirk, “Oh, by the way, Gu Fan, let kindly remind you.

If you continue keeping their daughter for so long, her parents will definitely grow wary of you.

You should be prepared for so tough questioning when it cos to marriage.”

“Thank you for the reminder, Sister Su, I’ll definitely be careful,” Gu Fan replied with a smile, noticing that although Su Hui was teasing him, her eyes held a solemn look, as if she had sothing on her mind.

Indeed, Su Hui was considering whether she should inform him about Zhang Yang and Yang Xinran’s disappearance.

Although her superiors had instructed her not to let Gu Fan know for the ti being, Su Hui felt that he would find out sooner or later.

Just then, Lin Xi’s phone rang.

Surprisingly, it was their college professor on the line, which was odd as they had already graduated and their professor should not have any reason to contact her.

“Did the professor find out that I copied part of my thesis and wants to revoke my degree?” Lin Xi nervously answered the call.

“Hello, Professor…” Lin Xi listened to the voice on the other end, nodding frequently in response before furrowing her brow, seeming to have encountered a problem.

She repeatedly stated, “No, I haven’t seen her in a long ti.”

Once she hung up, Gu Fan imdiately asked, “What’s up, what did the professor want?”

“Yang Xinran has gone missing.

Her parents contacted the school, and the professor found , wanting to know if I had seen Yang Xinran recently,” As Lin Xi finished speaking, the atmosphere turned tense and heavy.

Gu Fan found it hard to believe: “Yang Xinran has gone missing again?

My god, what happened to her this ti?”

“I don’t know, but I have a bad feeling.” Lin Xi had barely finished speaking when Gu Fan’s phone started to ring as well, and it was Uncle Zhang calling.

This was strange indeed.

On normal days, Gu Fan would only visit Uncle Zhang for a al, they didn’t usually connect otherwise.

Yet Uncle Zhang had suddenly called today.

Could it be that Uncle Zhang was planning to move his shop or had so big promotion going on?

Wait, Zhang Yang and Yang Xinran hadn’t broken up yet, right?

Gu Fan quickly associated this call with Zhang Yang, and a bad feeling arose in his heart.

“Hello, Uncle Zhang, what can I do for you so late?” Gu Fan answered, but after exchanging a few words, his expression froze, turning sowhat shocked and uneasy.

Su Hui already knew what had happened and could guess why Uncle Zhang was calling Gu Fan.

So, she remained calm, while Lin Xi watched Gu Fan intently with wide eyes.

Once he ended the call, Gu Fan seed to have lost his appetite.

His grave expression was quite concerning.

After thinking for a mont, Gu Fan broke the silence, “Zhang Yang has also disappeared; it seems like he and Yang Xinran are missing together.

I think it should only be a common missing person case, nothing special.

We shouldn’t panic.”

“I hope so!” Lin Xi also hoped that this was the case.

Su Hui wanted to inform them, but after thinking about it, she decided against it.

She chose not to go against her superior’s instructions, knowing that Gu Fan and Lin Xi would understand.

Moreover, unless it was absolutely necessary, Su Hui didn’t want to entangle Gu Fan and Lin Xi in this either.

Wasn’t it better for everyone to lead a peaceful life?

At this mont, Gu Fan noticed that Su Hui seed troubled and asked, “What’s the matter, Sister Su?

You look preoccupied.

Is there sothing you want to tell us?”

“Well…no.” Snapping out of her thoughts, Su Hui quickly collected herself, remaining unruffled.

However, both Gu Fan and Lin Xi gave her a suspicious look, feeling that Su Hui was hiding sothing.

Lin Xi also said, “Sister Su, if there’s sothing we can help with, don’t hesitate to tell us.

We are all friends and have been through so much together.

Assisting each other is only natural.”

“Nothing really, I was just lost in thoughts about work.

Don’t read too much into it,” Su Hui tried to explain, but suddenly Lin Xi’s chopsticks fell from her hand and she collapsed onto Gu Fan, unconscious.
