Chapter 1660: Chapter 1660: Volcanic Eruption

The top priority now is to rescue the Big Boss and Lord Xiong. Don’t worry about anything else. As Gu Fan sprinted toward the critical laboratory, he kept reminding himself not to be swayed by Ning Qi’s words earlier. He had to shake off those chaotic thoughts.

Yet Ning Qi’s words kept echoing in Gu Fan’s mind: Lin Xi is dead, Su Hui is gone, so why didn’t you choose ?

What on earth did she an? Could it be that after Su Hui left, the Demon King picked another woman—but that person wasn’t Ning Qi? Was that why Ning Qi held such resentnt? But who could this woman possibly be?

Gu Fan shook his head forcefully, trying not to dwell on such matters. Perhaps this woman would reveal herself later, so for now, it was impossible to figure out her identity.

When Gu Fan reached the critical laboratory, he saw nurous people sprawled across the ground at the entrance, their bodies haphazardly piled. It seed as though many enemies had co to stop them earlier, but they had all been defeated by Zhuo Hang.

“Nice work!” Gu Fan complinted as he stepped inside and saw that the battle had already ended. Qian Xue had been defeated and now lay unconscious on the ground.

Zhuo Hang was forcing a few captured individuals to work the instrunts and release the Big Boss and Lord Xiong.

It appeared that the tide had turned. Gu Fan took the opportunity to converse with Leng Feng and Lin Yue, discovering that their battles hadn’t been too arduous—aside from Qian Xue, who was slightly tough to deal with. The other enemies were rely nurous but posed little threat.

After hearing the general rundown, Gu Fan furrowed his brow and carefully examined the defeated enemies on the ground. He wondered whether Ning Qi had concentrated her forces solely on targeting him.

Sothing’s not right. With Ning Qi’s strength, she could easily duel Gu Fan one-on-one. Why would she have brought Pan Dun, the Black Warriors, and the Madman to assist her? Could it be that Ning Qi was no longer concerned about the critical laboratory? Did she truly have such strong faith in Qian Xue, thinking she could hold the line?

If Gu Fan were Ning Qi, he would never make such a foolish decision—he would send the elites to help Qian Xue defend the critical laboratory instead of chasing after Gu Fan.

From what Gu Fan rembered, Ning Qi was ticulous and wouldn’t commit such errors. This realization left him with one possible explanation: Ning Qi had deliberately abandoned the critical laboratory to let Zhuo Hang rescue the Big Boss and Lord Xiong.

At that mont, the liquid in the glass enclosure was completely drained, and then the enclosure opened. The Big Boss and Lord Xiong collapsed, tumbling to the ground.

Zhuo Hang acted quickly, catching Lord Xiong while completely ignoring the Big Boss—after all, the Big Boss wouldn’t die from such a fall.

Gu Fan glanced back and forth between Lord Xiong and the Big Boss. Sothing felt off. Although they had just gone through a fierce battle, the operation had gone far too smoothly—the rescue effort was easier than expected.

A faint sense of conspiracy hit Gu Fan, instantly putting him on high alert.

Just then, the Demon Refining Island Base began to shake violently once more—it seed like another volcanic eruption. This tremor interrupted Gu Fan’s train of thought.

Gu Fan couldn’t help but wonder why the Demon King went to such lengths to create an artificial volcano. What exactly was his goal?

This ti, the tremors from the Demon Refining Island Base were far more intense and didn’t subside for a long ti. Sirens began blaring, suggesting that the volcanic eruption had gone out of control.

Soon, evacuation orders echoed through the broadcast system, and the shaking of the Demon Refining Island Base grew even more intense, making it impossible to stand upright.

There was no ti for hesitation. Gu Fan carried the Big Boss, Zhuo Hang carried Lord Xiong, and the group started evacuating together.

As Gu Fan made his way out, he saw mbers of the X Legion running in complete disarray, paying zero attention to the intruders. At this mont, they cared only about escaping; no one had the ti to worry about Gu Fan and his group.

Seeing this chaos, Gu Fan frowned deeply. He knew that if they kept running blindly, the place would be destroyed before they even made it out.

Then, Gu Fan ca up with a clever idea: follow the X Legion. These soldiers would undoubtedly know the best route for escape.

Everyone agreed that this plan was practical, so they started trailing the enemies.

At this mont, monitoring their actions through surveillance, Ning Qi smirked complacently. “Gu Fan, you’ve proven right once again. You really did what I thought you would.”

Soon, Gu Fan’s group arrived at a warehouse filled with flying devices. They quickly selected one and made a swift escape from the Demon Refining Island Base.

The mont their aircraft shot out of the base, Gu Fan turned to look back. He saw the volcanic eruption spewing countless rocks that blasted into the sky like cannonballs before crashing back down onto the ground with a deafening force.

“Watch out!” everyone yelled in alarm. They were tense as their aircraft navigated through the falling volcanic rocks, sotis barely missing collisions with massive boulders.

The sky was enveloped in black smoke from the volcanic flas, and the ground was bombarded by rocks, kicking up clouds of dust and creating an apocalyptic scene.

Lava surged relentlessly, slowly consuming the Demon Refining Island Base bit by bit, leaving people with a chilling feeling that everything was over—that it was all dood.

More rocks rained down, thunderous impacts destroying everything in their path like an unstoppable army of artillery. The forest was obliterated entirely.

Several flying devices were struck by the falling rocks, exploding in mid-air.

Gu Xiaojin cast a defensive barrier nonstop, shielding the group from the falling debris. It felt like holding up an umbrella against enormous hailstones smashing down with ferocious force.

Each strike of the falling rocks against the defensive barrier sent shockwaves that placed trendous strain on the aircraft.

Initially, Gu Xiaojin managed to persevere, but as she witnessed an enormous rock hurtling down from the sky, she was overco with despair and helplessness.

Gu Fan and Zhuo Hang acted imdiately, both working together to reinforce the barrier.

A deafening impact rang out as the massive rock crashed down, its force so overwhelming it could easily carve out a colossal crater in the ground.

Though Gu Fan, Lin Yue, Zhuo Hang, and Gu Xiaojin united to temporarily withstand the blow without the barrier shattering, their aircraft could not endure such an intense shock. It lost its balance and began plumting toward the ground.

The aircraft spun uncontrollably mid-air, throwing everyone off in all directions—a chaotic tumble that ended with them hurtling toward the ground.

Gu Fan and Gu Xiaojin quickly stabilized themselves with their magic abilities while still airborne. Their first priority was locating Leng Feng and pulling him to safety.

“Damn it. Once I get back, I’m definitely learning magic.” That was Leng Feng’s first thought after being rescued. No matter how strong he was physically, he was still flesh and blood—falling from such a height would have been devastating.

Lin Yue flew deftly on his sword, unhard, but Zhuo Hang, the Big Boss, and Lord Xiong all crashed into the forest below. Fortunately, they were immortal and wouldn’t co to any harm.
