“Swoosh—” Lilia suddenly sat upright.
Being dispatched as one of the three major cannon fodders clearly indicated she wasn’t given much importance. “The contract is established,” a voice that seed to echo from the depths of his soul announced, and all the strange phenona vanished without a trace.
Lucien, however, was left with the sensation of being watched. He instinctively knew that if he breached the terms of the oath, he would be eradicated by the owner of the breath he had felt monts ago.
“Such stringent contracts are much stricter than those drafted by Greybone Academy… It’s no wonder they’re called the Eyes of Justice,” he mused in awe. Yet, seeing Lilia and Bennett with their calm expressions, he managed to suppress the emotions rising within him. He then turned to Bennett, “Now that the contract has been signed, there’s no need for you to worry about us not honoring the agreent. Can you reveal the information you’ve obtained now?”
“Of course, after all, I don’t wish to be slain directly by the Eyes of Justice from across boundless space and ti through the contract,” Bennett said with a smile before lowering his voice. “I suspect that near Kosai Island, there exists a secret realm related to the Fairy Clan, and there, perhaps lies the legendary Fairyland.”
Fairyland? Lucien wasn’t clear about the aning of this term that so obviously combined the words “Fairy” and “Land,” neither did Lilia, who also wore a contemplative look in her eyes.
“During the era of the Wizard Empire, humans, fairies, and even other Wisdom Species vied for dominion over the Wizard World. Fairyland was a sanctuary established by the Fairy Clan to ensure a refuge for their people,” explained Bennett before picking up a book from the nearby shelf and flipping it to a certain page, his words filled with a stirring sentint.
“Within Fairyland, there would naturally be fairy gardens. You should know that compared to humans, the Fairy Clan has a closer affinity with nature and can even cultivate many magical plants that human wizards are simply incapable of nurturing,” he said.
Lucien took the book Bennett handed him and quickly browsed through the section about Fairyland.
The general situation was similar to what Bennett had described, but Lucien felt that Bennett’s description of Fairyland wasn’t very reliable. After all, the likes of ruins, secret realms, and even Fairyland, have a great appeal to formal wizards.
If Wizard Heli was unaware, that would be one thing, but he had spent so much ti investigating Kosai Island, and Bennett had obtained so of his information from within Heli’s own family…
Lucien felt a twinge of unease.
Obviously, the “failure” of Wizard Heli had many questionable points. Yet, Bennett’s confident manner, coupled with the oath he had sworn, didn’t seem like deception.
Perhaps he had concealed so crucial details, but what he had told both himself and Lilia should be true. Otherwise, Bennett would have already broken the oath and been slain directly by the Eyes of Justice across the endless spans of ti and space.
Furthermore, what was the purpose of the group of mixed-race fairies according to the information obtained in the identification results?
Formal Wizard Heli, two companions with unknown objectives, and the mysteriously appearing mixed-race fairies on Kosai Island…
Lucien felt as if all these events were intertwined, forming a massive cloud of doubt that completely enveloped him.
The road ahead was incredibly obscure, as if a single thought could lead to heaven or Hell.
