Chapter 32: Are you really a paladin?
Thud!
The head of the orc landed on the ground and rolled a short distance, but Ivan had already moved toward the next orc. The three-second ti was up and Aaron had imdiately dropped the wall, allowing Ivan and the remaining orc to see each other.
"!!!" The orc.
It looked past Ivan and stared at the headless body of its companion that was still standing, it found it difficult to believe.
Less than five seconds had passed since they discovered this human but almost all of them had died? It was just so unacceptable!
"Kaju!!"
The orc shouted and slashed at Ivan with its axe, a powerful horizontal line, hoping to cut Ivan in half before going to look for whoever was helping him.
Ivan was already too close to dodge the attack since he had rushed up to the orc after Aaron made the wall crumble. But that didn’t an he didn’t have any ans of defending himself.
Swoosh!
Ivan’s left hand moved like a blur and he slapped the flat side of the axe, forcefully changing the direction of the orc’s attack.
This didn’t let him avoid the hit completely but it shifted the hit upward to his shoulder length. Ivan then proceeded to place his sword over his shoulder and welco the hit with the flat side of his blade.
Honestly, he would have preferred to avoid the hit completely but he was only at Level 1 of the warrior rank, his speed wasn’t enough to overwhelm his opponent yet.
Ting!
The mont the axe touched Ivan’s sword, he tilted the Sword’s length, using it as a ramp to throw the axe over his head. However, the shock of the hit still affected his shoulder a bit.
’Maybe I should have used the shield for that,’ Ivan thought with a hardened expression.
Thankfully, his sword was of a high grade and was able to take the hit, one grade lower and it would have shattered upon impact, thereby earning Ivan a grave wound or even his life!
After successfully bouncing off the axe, he imdiately did a diagonal slash with the sword that was still on his shoulder.
The blade of the sword ruthlessly ran into the lower ribs of the orc, through its chest, and out of its left shoulder.
Right after, Ivan stepped to the side to avoid the incoming shower.
Pshhhh!!!
Blood gushed out as the Orc’s upper body collapsed into two segnts with its eyes wide open, unable to believe that it had died just like that.
Ivan stood there, staring at the corpse of the orc with a straight face.
The forest fell into silence for a mont. The orc that Lena had caught with her vine had been choked to death too so it wasn’t making any noise either.
Not far away from where the whole thing had happened, Mrs Avalor looked with an impressed expression.
"Interesting, I have to report this to the others once I go back!" She mumbled. Ivan’s way of assigning roles had amazed her, he was able to use his squad of misfits in a way that even she didn’t think was possible.
But what had impressed her the most was Ivan’s personal display. Anyone who didn’t know him would definitely swear with their life that Ivan was a swordsman!
anwhile, back to Ivan’s group. It turned out that Mrs Avalor wasn’t the only one who was shocked, the mbers of Ivan’s squad were currently staring at him with mouths wide open.
They didn’t know what to say. They had witnessed the whole thing from a front-seat view and it was nothing less than shocking, simply unbelievable!
Without looking at them, Ivan called out to Lucas and asked what the situation of the village was. White was still observing the orc village so Lucas should know if anything happens over there.
It took so ti for Lucas to recover from his shock and finally respond.
"T-the village. Nothing changed, the orcs are still moving normally." Lucas reported.
"Good, orcs have a stronger slling ability than goblins and should be able to pick up the sll of blood in the wind soon. Let’s keep going while we still have the elent of surprise." Ivan said and turned around. Only now did he notice the expressions of his squad mbers.
"What?" He asked, his gaze landing on Lena who was already walking over.
"Are you really a Paladin or is it that I don’t know what a Paladin is anymore?" She asked, a doubtful look on her face.
In response to her question, Ivan summoned his shield and made it float in front of him.
"Maybe I’m a mage with a hobby of pretending to be a Paladin," Ivan said with a small smile.
Everyone "...."
"What is it again?" Ivan asked after seeing their blank faces.
"Leave the jokes for us, it doesn’t suit your face," Lena said seriously. This was actually the first ti she had been serious.
"True, hearing a joke from you just doesn’t feel right," Aaron added from the side.
Ivan "...."
’Do you believe I won’t stab you guys or bash you with my shield?’
"But honestly, that was insane! I didn’t know Paladins could move like that, so why did they say the Paladin-class was just for tanking? I rember a kid who awakened it so ti ago and he cried for a whole week!" Lucas said.
"Who said the Paladin-class was only for tanking?" Ivan asked.
"!!!" Lucas. Caught off guard by Ivan’s question, he tried to answer. But in the end, he couldn’t think of who actually said it.
"Everyone just knows that the Paladin-class is good at tanking. Most Paladin-class warriors only accept missions for protecting people, they aren’t good at fighting like you." Juliet said from the side.
"Indeed, you were moving like soone with the sword knight-class," Aaron added.
Ivan let out a sigh and didn’t continue the topic. He asked Aaron to open a hole in the ground for the corpses before closing it up; he led them toward the village after that.
Since White had been watching the village, they now knew the number of orcs in the village from Lucas.
There were a total of seven orc villagers. Three more orc warriors, two orc wizards, and the orc king.
"Two orc wizards? Isn’t an orc village supposed to only have one of those?" Aaron asked.
"I don’t know why either but there are two in this village." Lucas shrugged his shoulders in response.
"Should we go find another village?" Juliet looked at Ivan.
"Then what if that village also has two orc wizards, we leave and look for another village again?" Ivan answered with a question.
Juliet wanted to speak but closed her mouth in the end.
"Don’t worry, I have a plan." Ivan looked at the girl and said with a confident tone.
Juliet stared at him. Recalling how they had easily dealt with the four orcs earlier, she didn’t doubt Ivan and nodded.
Ivan smiled slightly before asking how many more shots she could fire before running out of mana.
"Eight normal shots and three strong shots," Juliet answered.
"What about your strongest shot? Will your remaining mana still be able to take out a creature at the Level 2 warrior rank if used in one go?"
"Yes, but I won’t be able to help anymore," Juliet said, looking slightly anxious.
"It’s fine. When the ti cos, I want you to kill the orc king. Can you do that?" Ivan asked seriously.
Juliet stared at him, wondering if Ivan knew what he was asking of her. If she used all her mana on the orc king, what about the other orcs? There would still be more than 10 orcs left to deal with!
"The orcs will fall into a mont of confusion and fear if their king suddenly dies. Even the strongest warrior orc would not want to fight for a few seconds under such circumstances, it’ll be up to us to take them out as quickly as possible." Lena joined the conversation.
After seeing Ivan’s performance in the last fight, she imdiately understood why he wanted Juliet to kill the orc king first.
Ivan looked at the girl and a look of approval flashed in his eyes. As expected of soone from a first-rate family, she was able to catch on quickly.
After listening to Lena’s explanation, Juliet contemplated for a mont before nodding.
"Okay, I’ll do that!"
"Good, don’t miss," Ivan said with a smile.
"I don’t miss!" Juliet replied boldly but suddenly blushed and fell silent.
Lucas and Lena laughed at this. anwhile, Ivan faced Aaron and began questioning him.
He wanted to know to what extent Aaron could control the ground.
Aaron replied that he could do anything as long as it was connected to the ground.
"Then can you make a field of spikes?" Ivan asked while walking.
"Field of spikes? I’ve never thought of that, I have tried creating one but never tried making many." Aaron replied with uncertainty.
Ivan imdiately abandoned the idea he had in mind. Since Aaron lacked experience, there was a high chance he wouldn’t perform up to par when the ti ca.
Ivan didn’t want to risk anything.
