Chapter 746: Chapter 745: The Truth

Chen Ke hung up the phone, walked out of the control room, and headed towards the folding doors on the other side. At that mont, a familiar voice called out to him from behind.

“Stop, don’t move.”

Chen Ke halted, not needing to turn around to recognize that it was Xu Jing’s voice.

“Long ti no see,” Chen Ke said.

“Why have you co here?” Xu Jing asked.

“Isn’t your people looking for ?” Chen Ke turned around.

Xu Jing stood about twenty steps behind him, holding a silver revolver in her hand. She had her hair tied up, wore a red leather jacket, black leather leggings, and black high heels.

“If you didn’t stir up trouble, you could have had a few good years left,” Xu Jing shook her head.

“I don’t make choices, I only make decisions,” Chen Ke said.

“You don’t know what’s happened on our side; the problem is more serious than you think,” Xu Jing said.

“You captured my people, that’s where the problem gets serious,” Chen Ke replied.

Xu Jing slowly lowered her gun and brushed a strand of hair from her forehead, saying, “They say that you are an obstacle to humanity; eventually, you will steal our future.”

“They? The one in the suit?” Chen Ke asked.

“The O5 Council knows everything. That you could kill one of them proves they have a point,” Xu Jing said.

“Then why the hesitation? I haven’t felt your hostility,” Chen Ke said.

Xu Jing took a deep breath, sliding the revolver back into its holster.

“I need an answer, Chen Ke,” Xu Jing said.

“What answer?” Chen Ke shook his head.

“Do you rember the year 1859?” Xu Jing asked.

The year 1859… Chen Ke slightly furrowed his brow.

That was the year he first encountered Xu Jing and, under her threat, entered. Another Chen Ke from that era was launching a revenge against the Foundation.

“It’s hard to forget,” Chen Ke said.

“In that year, we discovered the origin of the Divine Descent Sect, deep in that filthy sewer, we found that giant cockroach,” Xu Jing said.

Chen Ke had lost that part of his mory; he had no idea what he had experienced before his first death.

“Giant cockroach… and then we died… I forget what happened before that,” Chen Ke said.

“Another Chen Ke killed you… and took away, he tornted , it was you who rescued from him,” Xu Jing said.

“So? What answer do you want? Ask why I rescued you?” Chen Ke asked.

“No… The Divine Descent Sect wasn’t annihilated that year. After I returned, I circumvented the Foundation’s highest authority and conducted so investigations… and you once ntioned to … you knew another person from the Foundation,” Xu Jing said.

“That’s the issue, Xu Jing. Are you A or B?” Chen Ke asked.

“I am D…” Xu Jing said sowhat awkwardly.

“No… I didn’t an that,” Chen Ke shook his head.

Xu Jing’s face turned red, and her expression grew a bit angry.

“There are two 2137 years, and this building exists between the cracks of two tilines,” Chen Ke said.

“How did you get in here?” Xu Jing asked.

“It’s a long story, the thod I used is definitely not the sa as yours,” Chen Ke replied.

“This place is Mirror Space, but you tell it’s a crack in ti, and now I’m even more confused. Let’s be straightforward, I have so doubts about the foundation’s teachings on ti, and about the real power behind the foundation. What about you? What exactly are you? You’re definitely not human; are you… an Outer God?” Xu Jing asked.

“I am what you see before your eyes. What do you think I am?” Chen Ke said.

“I’ve attended a few etings chaired by O5, and every ti, my mory would be adjusted by tic edits, leaving behind only the most crucial directives. But last ti, I managed to bypass the tic modifications… Adams told … you are that thing… an Outer God who can manipulate ti, extrely dangerous, guiding humanity towards doomsday,” Xu Jing said.

“Wait… you found a way to bypass tic modifications?” Chen Ke asked in surprise.

Xu Jing took a coin out of her jacket pocket and said, “This belonged to so emperor.”

The foundation’s people sure have new tricks up their sleeves.

“Give an answer, Chen Ke, are you that Outer God? Are you going to lead humanity towards that dood future?” Xu Jing asked.

“If I am, what would you do?” Chen Ke asked.

“I can’t kill you. I just want to know the truth. I don’t like being deceived. If you are that thing, then what I have done for the foundation… wouldn’t be aningless,” Xu Jing said.

“The foundation hasn’t lied to you, but their interpretations are up for debate,” Chen Ke shook his head.

“You really…” Xu Jing still couldn’t quite believe it, even though she thought she was prepared.

“I have been to the end of human destiny, seen the eyes of the gods open in the sky, witnessed the human world covered in red soil. I’ve seen human remnants beneath the dust, the remains of deities and humanity’s tribulations, and a hundred Wumings who burned themselves to secure a future for humanity. Yet all these monts have already happened in the past, a future that is bound to arrive. They, and it, chose … No, I am fate,” Chen Ke declared.

Xu Jing fell silent. She understood half of it and was unwilling to believe the other half.

“In 2137, humanity perishes, without beads or chains; we are rely living in a dream that has been looped 999 tis. For us, 2137 is the end of ti. You don’t need to tell ; I know you’re in big trouble here,” Chen Ke said.

“How can I believe what you’re saying…?” Xu Jing’s voice trembled.

“The future is already destined. I have two choices, but I don’t want to choose either. I see an opportunity; six Holy Diamonds and six Witches could open a third path. Perhaps this is my purpose,” Chen Ke said.

Chen Ke looked at Xu Jing, waiting for her decision.

“Take to them, if they’re still alive,” Chen Ke said.

Xu Jing hesitated for a mont, then with a determined look, said, “Follow !”

The two walked along the corridor and stopped in front of a wall. Xu Jing pulled out a small pocket watch, and an elevator door appeared on the wall. The color of the elevator door stood out oddly in this space.

They stepped into the elevator, and Xu Jing pressed the button for the twelfth sub-level.

The elevator moved silently, as if plumting to hell. Xu Jing removed her red jacket, getting Chen Ke ready too. The mont he stepped into the elevator, he no longer remained between 2137A and B, but returned to side A, which ant it was bustling outside now.

“Below is a circular containnt prison, 52 levels in total. Your Witch friends are held in the core at the first level. I can get you in, but I can’t get you out. Because as soon as you dare open the containnt cell, the H.C.P. Task Force will arrive,” Xu Jing said.

“I have a way to leave. What will you do?” Chen Ke asked.

“When I decided to betray the foundation, the suicide had already been triggered… I can still control myself only because I still have this coin. I won’t live much longer,” Xu Jing said.

“Are you willing to sacrifice your life to help ?” Chen Ke asked.

“I am willing to sacrifice my life to pursue a truth,” Xu Jing said.

The elevator doors slowly opened, and Xu Jing pulled out a revolver. “Get ready big guy, you only have five minutes.”
