Chapter 356: Chapter 356: The Future That Was Avoided

This was a pitch-black hall.
Although there was no light whatsoever, the shadows of three won could still be seen reflected on the black marble floor.
The three of them wore Fei Huang cheongsams of black, blue, and red colors, respectively, their faces veiled, leaving only their pale chins and crimson lips exposed.
They were the minions of Yasla, but they were much more formidable than those strangely shaped and deford offspring.
At this mont, they sat restrained in the center of the hall—the woman in the black cheongsam cold as ice, the woman in the red cheongsam trembling incessantly, while the woman in the blue cheongsam gritted her teeth in anger.
The hall was very quiet, but the three won were well aware that they were not the only ones in the room.
So ti ago, Yasla had suffered a significant loss in Opportunity City; their stronghold in the Deep Anchor District had been slaughtered by an unknown force, and the perpetrator had yet to be found.
Even earlier than that, the green Holy Diamond that was supposed to be in the possession of their partner, Si’s consortium, had been stolen by a band of robbers.
At the sa ti, they had discovered a mutated individual, a man in his twenties, a native of Fei Huang.
Yasla’s plans had been disrupted, and the mont of fulfilling their mission seed increasingly out of reach.
“Opportunity City is still under our control,” the woman in the black cheongsam said coldly, but her tone carried a hint of assurance and pleading to soone.
“Unexpected losses are unacceptable,” a ssage was transmitted into their minds—an idea, a warning.
“The Foundation has co from the past, searching for their founder. Part of Angel was taken, and it’s likely related to that woman…” the woman in the blue cheongsam said through gritted teeth.
“The Foundation is the future, but the past is Yasla,” an idea ford, and it beca a reality they unwaveringly believed in.
“We will find Angel again,” declared the woman in the black cheongsam.
“Punishnt must be executed, the highest standards of obedience and service t.”
At that mont, the reflection of a fourth woman’s shadow appeared on the floor; in the mirrored world, she slowly walked and ca to stand behind the three cheongsam-clad won.
The three won remained silent, their tense heartbeats audible within the quietude of the hall.
“Pfft… Hiss… Woosh…” Odd noises filled the hall, like sothing burrowing into flesh. “Oh… Ohh… Mmm…” The woman in the red cheongsam clenched her lips and moaned, her body shaking uncontrollably as blood trickled down her thighs and the gaps of her seat onto the floor.
“The pets… are in pursuit… of the Oddity,” the woman in the red cheongsam struggled to say, and through her cheongsam, vines-like objects could be seen writhing beneath her skin.
“Excuses are not accepted,” the thought erged in the minds of the three won.
“Hiss…!”
Vines burst forth from her abdon, which turned out to be fist-sized black snakes. The snakes turned and viciously bit other parts of the red cheongsam woman before disappearing back into her body.
“Ah… Ugh… Ah…” The woman in the red cheongsam cried out in pain, her throat bulging suddenly as two snakeheads erged from her mouth.
The other two won sitting beside her kept silent, not even turning to look, but by the shape of their mouths, a faint smile could be discerned.
“Huu… Huu…” Not only did snakeheads co out of her mouth, but two small snakes also crawled out of the woman in the red cheongsam’s eyes and slowly revealed themselves from beneath the veil.
“Find Angel, kill the Oddity, stop the founder,” another thought surged in the minds of the three won.
On the floor, the shadow of the fourth woman vanished, and the snakes on the red cheongsam woman disappeared, her wounds instantly turning into decaying sores.
“Mother of Corruption… Ah… Mother of Corruption…” The woman in the red cheongsam murmured with a sobbing tone, her veil falling off, revealing a doll-like porcelain face with a mouth and a pair of eyes that were just three decaying holes.

“You always have to try,” I an… you were an investigator, right? The wife and daughter of an investigator should have a strong ability to cope with such strange occurrences.”
At 8 p.m., Chen Ke and Parker finally returned to Opportunity City.
All along the way, Parker was struggling with one question: whether or not to go back to find his wife and daughter.
While trapped in the Great Void, the motivation that kept him alive was his family, but now, he was hesitating.
Chen Ke knew exactly what Parker was worried about, so he spent the journey trying to enlighten him.
After all, no matter the outco, one always has to face reality.
Even confronting a bad result is better than forever escaping and living in a beautiful fantasy.
“I don’t know, Chen Ke. My wife has always been against my switching jobs from car sales to becoming an investigator, but my daughter thinks this job is cooler than selling cars,” Parker said nervously.
At that mont, they were walking on the streets of the Raffi Road District in Opportunity City. After seeing the congestion in Norton City, Chen Ke suddenly felt that Opportunity City was much more spacious.
“How old is your daughter?” Chen Ke suddenly asked.
“Seven years old, just started primary school, her na is Angel,” Parker said, his face lighting up with a happy smile as he spoke of his daughter.
“You should go back and see her, especially after so much has happened. But I just rembered sothing… there’s a ti discrepancy between your ti and the current ti,” Chen Ke said, pinching his lower lip.
“What do you an?” Parker asked, perplexed.
“Look at your phone, it’s June 2009 now…” Chen Ke reminded.
Parker was half a year ahead of this world.
That wasn’t the only issue; in the West Gold Building, the ti displayed on Parker’s phone left behind was in sync with the current world’s ti, but this ti, it didn’t match up with what Parker said while he was in the Great Void.
Combining the different experiences that Parker and Chen Ke had in the sa event, Chen Ke believed that sothing had changed, like a piece of paper torn in two.
Which half was this Parker beside him…?
“I rember now… this was half a year ago!” Parker suddenly realized.
“That’s right, you’re still just a car salesman right now. Maybe by tomorrow you could go back to your previous company to work,” Chen Ke said, spreading his hands.
“That’s great! That’s just great! Fuck being an investigator! If I don’t go to apply to be an investigator after this, would that an I could rewrite my future? Beco a normal person?” Parker exclaid with delight.
“I don’t think so… after all, eting happened earlier, and even if you run to apply to be an investigator now, the developnt of events in half a year won’t be exactly the sa as before…” Chen Ke shook his head.
After all, the West Gold Building had already exploded, unless Parker entered another building in half a year to play again…
“Alright, but anyway, this is good news. I just need to conceal the fact that I beca ash…” Parker said.
“At least you look no different from a normal person, and you seem the sa to the touch too. As long as you don’t use that ability, you can pretend to be a normal person,” Chen Ke said with a smile.
“Thinking about it that way, it does seem pretty good… Thank you, Chen Ke. If everything’s okay… I’ll invite you over for dinner at my place soti!” Parker said, also smiling.
“Then I’ll be waiting for your call,” Chen Ke said.
Chen Ke and Parker had developed a complicated relationship, from initially drawing guns on each other to now being ‘you’re fire and I’m ash,’ it was indeed a strange twist.
Parker’s ho was in the Gun Tie District. He was short on money and had lost everything, so Chen Ke gave him a thousand union coins to help him out in an ergency. He didn’t go back to the Gun Tie District with Parker because he still had sothing to take care of on Raffi Road.
He had to et Li Moyang, now, imdiately, straight away.
