Chapter 294: Chapter 294: Falling in Love with Air
Chen Ke spat out the strong liquor in his mouth and wiped the corner of his lips with his sleeve.
Looking up, he saw Lucina dressed in a tight camisole adorned with red sequins. The outfit outlined her mature and attractive figure, and under the orange lights of the bar, her exposed limbs appeared an enticing chocolate color. She wore black high heels on her feet.
Her usually ponytailed curly long hair was draped over her shoulders today. She nodded slightly, clasping her hands behind her back, exuding a unique Latin charm.
Chen Ke felt an inexplicable shiver run through his body, and the Sun Mark on his chest began to spin. Today’s Lucina was unlike any version he had seen before.
Low whistles filled the bar. A few muscular bald n seed to have their eyes nailed on Lucina, and one could easily guess what was on their minds just by looking at their toes.
Lucina walked up next to Chen Ke and rested her right arm on the bar. She glanced at Chen Ke, then at the bartender.
“Miss, we don’t have champagne or wine here, and there’s no dance floor. I think you’re in the wrong place,” the bartender said.
“Give the strongest bottle you’ve got,” Lucina smiled, deliberately lowering her voice.
“Ho ho… I wonder if I heard that wrong… Could you… say that again?” the bartender mocked as he looked at Lucina, revealing a mocking smile.
“Give a drink, or I’ll find another bar. You see, that idea isn’t so hard to co by,” Lucina smiled.
The bartender’s smile faded, and he turned to pull an unopened dark bottle from under the counter and placed it in front of Lucina.
Chen Ke knew the strength of that drink. Just a small sip could lt the mouth. He even suspected that the bottle didn’t contain liquor at all but so other strange liquid.
But he didn’t think the bartender was deliberately making it difficult, considering that the sa bottles were on every other table. It seed this was the kind of subpar but high-proof trash that dock workers could stomach.
He looked at Lucina and signaled with his eyes, but she didn’t respond. Other bar patrons watched Lucina—so attracted by her graceful figure and wild beauty, others wanted to see this wild girl make a fool of herself.
Lucina picked up the bottle, expertly tapped the edge of the bar to open the cap, then shoved the bottle mouth into her lips and tilted her head back, gulping down the contents…
Chen Ke’s eyes widened as he slightly tilted his head, watching Lucina in disbelief. With her eyes closed, she didn’t pause for half a second; her throat moved rhythmically as she swallowed, letting the liquid pour down her gullet.
In less than ten seconds, Lucina had downed the entire bottle and with a snap, she placed it on the bar.
The black bottle had no label. Chen Ke couldn’t tell the brand, but it seed to hold about as much as a regular beer bottle, around 580 milliliters, likely so local brew from the pub.
Soone began whistling, followed by more and more people clapping, as if witnessing a world wonder. Lucina belched and wiped the corners of her lips.
“Another one, put it on his tab,” Lucina said, pointing to Chen Ke and giving him a challenging smile.
“That round was on , miss. What’s your na? I’ve never seen you around here before,” the bartender said as he pulled out another bottle and set it on the bar.
“Oh… you’re asking my na? Want my number too?” Lucina chuckled as she popped open the cap.
“If you’re willing?” the bartender smirked.
Chen Ke’s hairs stood on end, realizing there was sothing off about Lucina’s behavior. He grabbed her wrist, intending to take her away.
“What are you doing? We just got here,” Lucina said as she raised her hand to break free from Chen Ke.
“Hey, knock it off,” Chen Ke whispered.
“This lady is right, the night has only just begun. If you’re tired, you can leave first, Asian Man.” The three muscular bald n who had been staring at Lucina approached, the leader with a ship anchor tattoo on his head put his hand on Chen Ke’s shoulder as he spoke.
Chen Ke turned to look at the three n, realizing they were trying to hit on Lucina.
“This is none of your business,” Chen Ke said, sighing.
“Listen, you made that lady upset just now, and that makes it my business. Regulars here know the rules. Don’t ruin our fun; do you understand?” the ship anchor tattooed man glared at Chen Ke, smiling.
Chen Ke didn’t respond; he knew Lucina was playing a dangerous ga. It was sothing between him and her. These drunkards were obnoxious, but if he were to start a fight, likely, no one in the bar would survive, so he was trying hard to control himself.
“Hey, can’t you buy a drink instead of bothering that downer?” Lucina, sensing sothing, quickly shifted the ship anchor tattooed man’s attention to herself.
“I’ll let you off for now, you little bastard,” the ship anchor tattooed man said, positioning the other two bald n behind Chen Ke, while he moved to Lucina’s right side.
“You still have a bottle in your hand; why not finish it first?” the ship anchor tattooed man suggested.
Lucina smiled, tipped her head back, and downed the bottle, drawing cheers and whistles from around the bar. With two bottles of strong alcohol consud, a flush appeared on her face.
Not to be outdone, the ship anchor tattooed man ordered two bottles, downed one in one go, and then pushed the other bottle towards Lucina.
“I’ve never seen you here before. If there were such a hot girl in my territory, I would rember. So, where are you from? What brings you here?” the ship anchor tattooed man inquired.
“I’ve fallen for soone, but he’s like thin air; I can only et him in my dreams,” Lucina said, glancing at Chen Ke.
“Sounds like you’re just too lonely,” the ship anchor tattooed man laughed.
“Maybe you’re right, maybe I am just too lonely…” Lucina said as she popped open another bottle cap and tilted her head back to pour the third bottle down.
“I have a question; this liquor… what brand is it…?” Chen Ke suddenly asked.
“Life,” laughed the muscle-bound bald man behind Chen Ke.
The bartender smiled silently, wiping a glass and placing it in front of Chen Ke.
“You have to really feel it,” Lucina said to Chen Ke, her words laden with double aning.
The bartender topped up Chen Ke’s glass, and he lifted the glass, looking at the clear liquid inside, then took another sip.
No! It was still harsh and hard to swallow; after just one sip, Chen Ke put down the glass, feeling a burning sensation throughout his body.
Lucina sighed, a look of disappointnt shaking her head.
“Hey, baby, a girl like you shouldn’t be this lonely. Why don’t you tell your na? Maybe I can try to make you less lonely,” the ship anchor tattooed man whispered as he wrapped his left arm around Lucina, resting it on her left shoulder.
