Chapter 171: Chapter 158 The Request of the Silvermoon Knight

Laine is the sworn enemy of the Undead, and Amberser naturally pays special attention to the news from Laine.

This white-haired Silvermoon Knight had a renowned reputation; although Amberser had never t him, he had heard of him.

The creator of the Spirit Puppets, Master Morgan, died at the hand of this Silvermoon Knight, not even his ashes were left behind.

Yet, seeing with his own eyes, Amberser still found it hard to believe.

The Silvermoon Knight appeared very weak.

He had a floaty step, a sallow complexion, and short breaths… He looked more like an old man on his last legs than the strongest Paladin of the Empire.

The Silvermoon Knight faced the salute of the entire bar, simply waved his hand, and then ordered, “Everyone out.”

The young Paladins didn’t dare to ask any questions and quickly left the pub. The other custors, sensing trouble, hurried out as well.

Katherine hesitated whether to blend into the crowd and leave when the Silvermoon Knight already sat across from her and politely greeted, “Your Majesty the Queen, please notify us in advance the next ti you visit, such treatnt is an oversight on our part from Laine.”

“Ah? What did you say?” Katherine was flustered and started to recite her cover story, “Sir, you are mistaken, my na is Eileen, the only daughter of a minor noble family, this ti I ca to…”

“Alright, Katherine, you’ve been found out, it would be impolite to continue denying it.”

Amberser sighed, and his skull floated up from the rcury Avatar, with the rest of his body flying out from his private space to reassemble.

His Lich form revealed, the Magic Array of Sandshadow City reacted imdiately, a massive amount of Holy Light started to converge, aiming to purify Amberser completely.

Just as Amberser was about to cast spells to fend off the Holy Light, the Silvermoon Knight chanted a spell, and the gathering Holy Light gradually dispersed.

“Not planning to fight ? I was ready to self-destruct,” Amberser bluntly asked.

The Silvermoon Knight coughed, then said, “The Empire has no reason to take action against you, don’t you know? Your na has been removed from the wanted list. Am I right, Master Ultraman?”

Amberser said in surprise, “The Laine Empire deals with the Undead based on wanted lists? Your Paladins usually kill any Undead they see, when did they start practicing procedural justice?”

“It has always been procedural justice, the law of the Empire, all discovered Undead are assud enemies. If they cannot be killed on the spot, a warrant for their arrest is issued.”

At this point, the Silvermoon Knight couldn’t help but cough again before continuing, “However, you are the first case of an Undead’s warrant being rescinded; there was no precedent to follow.”

“For this reason, I specifically consulted with the Supre Judge Sir, who gave the final decree that unless you attack any person of the Laine Empire or commit any atrocity against humans, Laine will not carry out purification on you.

“This is your reward for diating in the war and saving the lives of millions of humans.”

Amberser didn’t know what to say; perhaps he was the first Undead to receive a comndation from Laine in history.

But it sounded like a betrayal. Would he be accused of betraying his kind if the news went out?

Amberser said to the Silvermoon Knight, “You should have told

sooner, so I wouldn’t have to hide so laboriously. I could’ve walked in grandly, probably to see a bunch of Paladins frustrated by their inability to deal with .”

The Silvermoon Knight said, “Then I wouldn’t shield you from the Holy Light’s lock-on, and you would endure a continuous barrage.”

Amberser said proudly, “It’s okay, marching into the city under attack by Holy Light would be even cooler. Seeing the Paladins unable to touch

despite the Holy Light would surely make them angrier.”

The Silvermoon Knight said confusedly, “I originally thought you were a benevolent and wise person who disliked strife, but I didn’t expect you to be as childish as a ruffled wildcat.”

Amberser responded with a sneer, “If this conversation were to get out, it would depict , the Lich, as unmoved by the Laine Empire’s attempted persuasion, righteously denouncing your hypocrisy. Other Undead wouldn’t then think of

as a traitor. Mister Paladin, I still need to mix in the organization.”

“Get out?” the Silvermoon Knight was a bit puzzled.

Amberser said, “If I were even slightly courteous to you, who knows if you recorded it with a mory Crystal. If it were broadcast after I left, other Undead would redirect their hatred for Laine onto .”

The Silvermoon Knight: …

He had not even thought about that.

This Lich’s heart was truly dark, capable of such malevolent sches that ca so naturally to him.

The Silvermoon Knight glanced at Katherine, wondering how the Elf Queen ended up in the company of a Lich.

When Amberser entered the city, he triggered a reaction from the Holy Light Magic Array. Although it was weak, the Undead alert is the highest, so it was imdiately reported to the Silvermoon Knight.

This old man observed Katherine’s disguised appearance through the monitoring Magic Array, realizing sothing was off at first glance, then quickly confird she was the legendary Elf Queen.

After the conflict in Sandshadow City concluded, the Silvermoon Knight was ready to leave, but he didn’t expect such a notable figure to appear in the last few hours of his watch.

The Silvermoon Knight had to take matters into his own hands to understand what was going on.

As soon as he entered the pub, he sensed the Undead presence hidden within the rcury Avatar.

An Elf Queen and a Legendary Lich, this combination was too bizarre; the Silvermoon Knight wasn’t even certain of their intentions.

The Silvermoon Knight decided to get straight to the point: “Your Majesty Katherine, may I inquire the purpose of your sudden visit?”

Seeing that she had been exposed, Katherine dropped her disguise and was forced to confess, “We really only intend to use the Continental Transmission Array, our destination is the Erald Dream Forest.”

The Silvermoon Knight frowned.

An Elf Queen and a Legendary Lich, disguising themselves and sneaking in just to use the Teleportation Circle? That didn’t sound right no matter how you listened to it.

Amberser said, “Rest assured, activate the Teleportation Circle for

now, and I’ll leave imdiately. Who likes lingering on Laine’s territory?”

After a mont of thought, the Silvermoon Knight then said, “Her Majesty Katherine is naturally allowed to use the Teleportation Circle, but this one…”

Amberser chuckled and said, “I knew it, you’re raising the price, right?”

He was all too familiar with this tactic of jacking up prices on the spot.

Amberser said to the Elf Queen, “Katherine, cover for .”

Katherine obediently took out her gold-thread purse and asked the Silvermoon Knight, “How much more is needed?”

Silvermoon Knight: …

The relationship between these two seed even more preposterous than anticipated; it looked as though they had a master-servant dynamic.

How could the Silvermoon Knight accept money when Katherine was offering to pay? His aim was not the money.

“Actually, I would like to ask for Master Ultraman’s assistance. It’s rare to have a Legendary Lich visit, would you be willing to cooperate with us, the Laine, in a military exercise?”

This request by the Silvermoon Knight startled Amberser, who then said in surprise, “You want

to be a sparring partner for you? And take the opportunity to kill

during the exercise?”

This Lich, his thoughts were truly dark.

The Silvermoon Knight shook his head and said, “I would not violate the commands of the Supre Decree and set a trap for you. But, the Dwarves were defeated too quickly in that desert battle; these young ones hardly faced any difficulty before they won.”

Amberser’s mouth hung open at this remark; the Dwarves would likely feel humiliated enough to commit suicide if they heard this.

But indeed, the Laine fought impressively in that battle, crushing the opposition from beginning to end. The Dwarves didn’t stand a chance to counterattack and lost half their country.

If not for the self-destruction of Alchemy City that allowed the Dwarves to gain an advantage, the Golden Kingdom would have been finished long ago.

“That desert battle was their first, and their victory ca too easily; these youngsters have begun to beco frivolous and reckless. Such an attitude will cost them dearly in a real battle. Since you’re passing through, why not teach them a lesson.

“I’ve heard you excel at taking prisoners alive. If you’re willing to help, I will write a letter of recomndation for you, guaranteeing your journey through the rest of Laine Empire will be without hindrance.”

These words from the Silvermoon Knight were sowhat tempting to Amberser because three transfers, each within Laine territory, were required to reach the Erald Dream Forest, and a guarantee from the Silvermoon Knight could save a lot of trouble.

“You want

to pretend to be an Undead attacking a city?” Amberser asked.

“You have free rein to act as you please. War is unpredictable, and there won’t be any prior coordination; use every strategy possible. Just ensure that the casualties are below a thousand,” he said.

“A thousand? You’re quite ruthless.”

The number scared Amberser; the Laine People were so harsh even towards their own?

The Silvermoon Knight explained, “The gate soldiers actually let you enter the city even after detecting the presence of Undead, and they even helped you secure a certificate of guarantee. If it had been another Legendary Lich, the casualties would be far more than a thousand. I’m very disappointed in these youngsters.”

In his agitation, the elderly Silvermoon Knight emitted a resilient, ironclad aura, placing great pressure on Amberser.

However, he was overthinking it; there might be another Legendary Lich in the world, but where would you find a second Katherine?

“I’m not necessarily against the request; the opportunity to severely teach a lesson to the Paladins is rare. However, just a letter of recomndation won’t be enough,” he said.

For Amberser to act, it required spending a significant amount of Gold, and the costs had to be calculated accurately.

“I have heard sothing of your preferences, sir. If it’s a reward you seek, we could negotiate,” he said.

Amberser displayed a smile and suggested to the Silvermoon Knight, “How about this? To avoid you thinking I’m not putting in effort, we’ll talk based on the final results. For every captive Laine person, you pay

ten thousand Gold Coins, how’s that?”

The Silvermoon Knight imdiately shook his head and said, “My casualty limit is set at a thousand people; wouldn’t I have to pay at least ten million Gold Coins after this battle? That price is too outrageous.”

Spending money wasn’t the issue, but ten thousand per captive was exorbitant. If he agreed to this price, the Silvermoon Knight himself might end up facing a military tribunal.

Amberser then said, “Don’t rush to a decision. Ten thousand for a Paladin, one thousand for an ordinary soldier, and one hundred for a civilian. Surely you can accept these prices?”

The Silvermoon Knight calculated quickly; the majority of the Paladins in Sandshadow City had been relocated, leaving less than a hundred. Even if all were captured, it wouldn’t exceed a million Gold Coins. And as for the soldiers, there were fewer than two thousand remaining, an acceptable number even if all were taken prisoner.

Besides, could Amberser genuinely capture the entire city’s population?

The Silvermoon Knight stated, “Civilians don’t count; civilians can’t be involved in the military exercise. I agree to the other two conditions.”

“What about the Militia? You have quite a few of them, right?”

“Militia? Count them as regular soldiers as well.”

Sandshadow City had recently been reclaid, and there were only about a hundred local Militia assisting with maintaining order; their numbers were limited.

Amberser was very satisfied and said, “Very well, swear to the Holy Light, and I guarantee to give the Laine Empire a lesson they won’t forget.”
