"All just props?!"
Upon hearing this, Qianhe Kagura couldn’t hold back anymore.
Her fingers involuntarily stretched out, stamring, "Beichuan, Beichuan, you’re saying they’re all just props? How could such props exist?!"
A plush toy that hands over tissues.
A woman floating in the air with a broken neck.
And the roaring chainsaw.
Those were all just props?!
You must be joking! There’s no way I could ever believe such nonsense!
Facing Qianhe Kagura’s incredulity, Beichuan Si didn’t hesitate to pull out objects from her bag right in front of her.
The plush toy.
And a pale golden bell that shimred lightly.
Beichuan Si thought for a mont and then also picked up the chainsaw from the ground, one of the props that had frightened Qianhe Kagura the most.
Displaying these items that had cast shadows over Qianhe Kagura in the haunted house, now being held by Beichuan Si, caused Qianhe Kagura to dare not cast her gaze upon them.
Subconsciously shifting her eyes away, she glanced briefly at them from the corner of her eye, shaking as she asked, "And, and what else?"
Indifferent to her pained expression, Beichuan Si picked up the plush toy and said, "Please, watch."
He twisted the checkered scarf hanging around the little toy’s neck.
That simple action wound up the plush toy, and it started moving on the bed with a semblance of life, even picking up a tissue and handing it to Qianhe Kagura.
But this lasted only a brief mont.
After a while, as if the winding Beichuan Si had given it ran out, the little toy stopped moving and flopped over on the bed with a plop.
Witnessing this scene, Qianhe Kagura’s mouth hung open, disbelief lacing her voice, "This... This really is just a prop?"
"As you see," Beichuan Si calmly handed the little toy to her. "This is a very intricate toy my mother brought back for recently from abroad. I thought it was quite nice, so I used it for the haunted house. Please be careful; it’s a very delicate prop."
After hearing this, Qianhe Kagura took the small plush toy from Beichuan Si’s hands.
The toy obediently lay in the palm of her hand; although its fierce appearance was still sowhat frightening, Qianhe Kagura swallowed and gingerly pinched and rubbed the toy.
Once she was reasonably sure, Beichuan Si took the plush toy back from her and picked up the pale golden Shinra Bell to explain, "It looks like a re bell on the surface, doesn’t it, Teacher Qianhe?"
Qianhe Kagura swallowed and nodded.
"But it’s actually a holographic projection device, another item my mother brought when she returned to the country."
Your mother again?
Qianhe Kagura massaged her temples, watching intently.
Beichuan Si then twisted the handle of the Shinra Bell in front of her.
And then—
The woman with her neck twisted to a ninety-degree angle floated in mid-air.
Just as had been seen inside the haunted house.
Qianhe Kagura was stunned, barely audible as she muttered, "Are... Are technologies from abroad really this advanced?"
"Yes, it’s that realistic," Beichuan Si said emotionlessly as he put the bell away, and the ’holographic projection’ in the air vanished.
Then Qianhe Kagura saw Beichuan Si pick up the chainsaw, and without changing expression, he said, "This is also a prop my mother brought from abroad recently."
Qianhe Kagura scratched her head, her voice uncertain, "...Beichuan, your mother really... really likes to bring you things from abroad, huh?"
Indeed... She hadn’t seen much of Beichuan Si’s parents at parent-teacher etings because Beichuan Si’s mother was usually working abroad.
Unperturbed by her question, Beichuan Si stretched out his hand and pulled the chainsaw’s chain off the top. "This is actually a prop made of a mix of flash paper and cardboard, just ticulously crafted so that it looks incredibly real. Think about it, the school security would never allow to bring a real chainsaw into Kyubei, right?"
"...That’s true," Qianhe Kagura agreed to Beichuan Si’s statent.
The security at Kyubei weren’t pushovers; how could they let a student carrying what looked like a deadly weapon into the school without stopping them?
Seeing she was coming around, Beichuan Si snapped his fingers and then spoke again:
"The actual sound of the chainsaw was due to a small speaker placed nearby; in reality, this prop couldn’t make any noise."
"Is that so?!"
Qianhe Kagura seed sowhat disoriented.
The chain was just finely crafted, and the sound ca from a small speaker...?
Emotionally, she felt it shouldn’t be like that; what she saw should have been much more terrifying.
However, reason told her there couldn’t possibly be ghosts in this world, and everything in the haunted house had been pure imagination.
Watching Qianhe Kagura in such a state, Beichuan Si imdiately ironed when it was hot and said, "My friends and I are very sorry for scaring Teacher Qianhe. We hope Teacher Qianhe won’t mind; they just wanted to make the haunted house more fun."
That statent made Qianhe Kagura take a deep breath.
She nearly cried.
Look...
Beichuan Si.
What a good student he is.
Upright and rational, treating teachers with a gentle attitude and being able to understand a teacher’s difficulties.
With a student who cared for the teacher like him, should she still cast suspicions on him based on those "unscientific" things?
Would that be sowhat inappropriate?
If Qianhe Kagura had been afraid of Beichuan just monts ago, now she could once again present herself as a teacher in front of him.
She cleared her throat lightly and said warmly to Beichuan Si, "Beichuan, the teacher actually doesn’t care about these little props coming and going."
Qianhe Kagura spoke seriously, "The so-called haunted house is nothing but an oppressively terrifying closed environnt, with so realistic props and an excellent performance by ghost actors. Add so psychological suggestion... amplify these psychological suggestions, making you suspicious and fearful. Those are just common tricks of haunted houses."
She ended with a professional deanor, "In other words, the reason I was scared this ti was all due to the excellent props made by you, Beichuan, and your friend’s performance, all of which can be explained by science."
"Therefore, we must always believe in science, Beichuan."
"...Yes." Beichuan Si acknowledged softly.
Qianhe Kagura was satisfied.
Now that she had figured out that these were all props and performances by ghost actors, there was no need to be scared at all; she was still herself, still that authoritative horoom teacher.
But in fact, there was still a bold idea in Qianhe Kagura’s heart.
That was to say, what Beichuan Si was telling her now was a lie, and his friends were actually vengeful ghost spirits—
But how could that be possible?!
Qianhe Kagura shook her head with self-mockery,
"By the way, Beichuan, where are your friends who were playing the ghosts? I want to et them and properly thank them."
"They’ve already left; they said they were too embarrassed to stay any longer. They’ll definitely find a way to apologize to Teacher Qianhe next ti," Beichuan Si responded politely.
Hearing this, Qianhe Kagura was again comforted in her old heart.
Listen... just listen!
What polite friends Beichuan Si and his friends are.
Having doubted Beichuan Si so much just a while ago, now Qianhe Kagura only wanted to say sorry to him.
With this thought in mind, Qianhe Kagura didn’t hesitate to say, "No need to apologize; I’ll take the initiative to thank them the next ti we et."
As an adult, one should have the magnanimity not to dwell on being frightened once.
One should show an attitude that one doesn’t care at all.
After all, the Kyubei Festival was a celebration prepared for high school kids; it was fine to let them have their fun.
"Okay. I’ll pass that along."
Beichuan Si, while tidying up the props on the bed, responded expressionlessly.
In the midst of his reply, he also glanced at Nishijou Kurenai, who was lying on the bed.
At that mont, Nishijou Kurenai was watching Qianhe Kagura with an imperceptible little glance...
