Twin Blossoms
In the midst of Aili losing her composure, Yinhua and the others experienced an exceptionally unforgettable night.
"Good morning, dear master."
As soon as Yinhua opened her eyes in the morning, she saw Aili at her side, holding a steaming hot breakfast and wearing her signature smile.
"Morning, Aili."
Still plagued by her old problem, Yinhua was in a state of low blood sugar and had yet to regain her normal faculties.
She glanced at the clock.
Ten o'clock! I'm this late for school already?!
Yinhua imdiately sat up in bed. Looking around, she realized she was in a completely unfamiliar environnt.
She stared blankly for a few seconds before the current situation finally felt familiar.
Aili brought over a basin of hot water and a towel, placing them before Yinhua.
Yinhua used them to wash her face and mouth.
"Are you a little more awake now?"
Aili asked gently.
"Yeah, much better, thank you,"
Yinhua replied.
"We were up so late last night, I'm surprised you could wake up so early," she said, still yawning.
"No, I think at best we just got a little exercise before bed last night, but..."
Recalling that red-haired monster, Aili still felt a lingering fear in her heart.
"But?"
"It's just that that bug didn't die thoroughly."
"That's really too much to say. If we're being honest, yesterday was clearly your fault, wasn't it? I already told you it was a misunderstanding."
Liqin leaned against the doorway, already dressed and made up. The two were only waiting for Yinhua.
"Hurry up and get ready. We're leaving soon and there's not much ti,"
Liqin urged.
"Mmm..."
...............................
After a while, the group checked out of the inn and set off towards the imperial capital.
Because of the Serpent Grass incident, ngqi's streets felt sowhat desolate, though the shopping district still held a lively spirit.
Aili's suggestion had been to hurry on their way, but Yinhua wanted to have a look around ngqi.
Just as Aili was about to say sothing, Liqin cut her off.
"What does it matter? Little Yin rarely gets to go far from ho, so let's let her enjoy herself."
Unable to persuade the two, Aili could only sigh.
She didn't actually want to restrict Yinhua's freedom; she was just worried they might encounter that monster from last night—and if a real fight broke out, she might not be able to protect her master.
So she pulled Liqin aside to explain the situation.
"A red-haired, long-haired undead monster? Are you sure about this?"
Liqin was surprised.
"If I wasn't sure, I wouldn't be telling you. As long as she remains in this city, things aren't safe here. That's why I want to leave quickly."
"Besides the red hair, what other features did she have?"
Aili was puzzled why Liqin would ask about these details.
"Her clothes were tattered, and she had a lot of wounds on her body..."
She didn't finish before Liqin interrupted her.
"Isn't that her?"
Liqin pointed forward.
"Huh?"
Aili's gaze shifted forward and saw her own master, happily chatting away with Miss Zhixi.
"Hey, do I know you? Why do you look so familiar?"
Zhixi asked, eyeing the girl before her.
"Um, are you talking to ?"
Yinhua looked left and right, realizing the girl was indeed communicating with her.
"This should be our first eting, but where does this sense of déjà vu co from?"
Zhixi ignored Yinhua's question, talking to herself.
"Silver hair, red eyes... I feel like I've seen this before..."
Zhixi murmured.
"Ahhh, I can't rember! I hate trying to recall things like this the most."
"Treat to a al, please? I haven't eaten in two days!"
"Ah, um, sure."
Though it was obviously their first eting, the girl before Yinhua sohow gave her a sense of familiarity, like family.
"Good morning, miss Zhixi,"
Aili greeted as she hurried over.
There hadn't been any particular enmity between the two, so there was no need for any bitter confrontation.
"You're the one from last night? Hm? What are you wearing?"
"It's a maid outfit."
Aili's smile didn't fade, a smile that let Zhixi know this was indeed her opponent from the previous night.
"No, I can see that, but why are you wearing a maid uniform?"
"If you're asking about that, I don't know how to answer. Should I just say it's my job?"
"Your job?"
"Do you not understand what that ans?"
"No, I do, it's just my brain refuses to accept it."
After last night's clash, Zhixi understood that Aili's strength was definitely not below that of a sage.
For soone of that caliber to work as a maid? How terrifying must her master be?
"Ah, so you two know each other? Is this your friend, Aili?"
Although it was a small thing, Yinhua was clearly very happy.
After all, aside from herself, Aili had never had any friends; her smile was like the sun in March, capable of lting away all the snow and ice.
"No, master, this is Miss Zhixi—a passerby who asked for directions last night."
"Is that so? Miss Zhixi, hello. May I ask, are you Aili's friend?"
"Huh?"
Perhaps because she'd long dwelled in the abyss, Zhixi couldn't recall the last ti she'd seen such a pure, innocent smile—a smile without calculation or scheming, the most genuine smile from the heart. She was montarily lost.
"An angel? Ah, no, I really am Aili's friend."
'What am I saying???'
"See, Aili? It's not good to be so cold to your friends—you'll hurt their feelings."
"???? No, master, I..."
"I told you before—even when dealing with strangers, you should be polite, let alone your friends. Pretending not to know her, that's just too much."
"I... I'm sorry..."
Seeing that her master seed angry, Aili thought it better to apologize first, no matter what.
"Zhixi, you see, Aili has already apologized. Can you forgive her?"
"Ah, um, oh, okay."
"Then, let the two of you shake hands and make peace."
Yinhua took the two by the hands and placed them together.
As their hands t, the two of them glowed like the brightest stars in the night, shining together.
Zhixi, with her fla-like red hair and ocean blue eyes, had an adorably dazed look, reminiscent of a kitten.
Aili, with hair as black as the night and eyes as green as eralds, looked helpless, forming a stark contrast with the forr.
The flow of people on the street paused; all eyes gathered on them.
In that instant, ti seed to freeze—the two were like twin lotus blooms, with Yinhua at the center, the caretaker of this rare blossom. What a beautiful scene this was.
A painter happened to capture this mont, and spent his lifeti etching it into history—the three beca a legend in ngqi.
In reality, however—
"What are you doing?"
Aili whispered.
"I wish I knew,"
Zhixi replied helplessly.
"You're not doing this on purpose, are you?"
"I really am not!!! By the way, can you treat to a al?"
"Is this that way of handling things you talked about last night???"
