Swoosh—
A zombie’s head was chopped off.
Zhang Feng and Old Gao entered the mall, and after half an hour of clearing out, the scattered zombies inside the mall were also killed.
anwhile, outside the door amidst the bloody remains,
Several nearby residents were watching from the doorway, wanting to speak but not daring to do so.
The fact that they were able to co here through the corpses was the result of a complex ntal struggle before finally deciding to take this step.
"Will we die?"
At this mont, a young man looked at a few of his neighbors around him.
"Staying upstairs will starve us to death too..." The neighbor glanced at the surrounding severed limbs, suppressing the discomfort, trying to keep his voice steady, but also gagging as he spoke:
"We might as well... ugh... yeah, just co down... maybe... maybe that superhero, that ’Brother Zhang’... won’t hurt us..."
His words were full of uncertainty, a complete gamble.
As for the na Brother Zhang, it was because after Zhang Feng killed a small group of zombies, Old Gao and the others called Zhang Feng that, and people from nearby buildings heard them.
Following this, the word spread, and everyone got to know the na ’Brother Zhang.’
"Do you think... Brother Zhang is a good person?" The young man asked again: "Or... will he take us in?"
"We don’t have any food left at ho..." A young neighbor beside him said with a vacant look in his eyes, now only wanting food.
But facing either starving in a couple of days or imdiate death.
Though in a daze, he was still smart enough not to rashly attempt contact with Zhang Feng and the others in the mall.
Simultaneously, he looked back at a row of residential buildings behind him.
More neighbors hadn’t chosen to co down; instead, they watched from above, wanting to see the result of their first contact with the ’monster Brother Zhang.’
Perhaps, they were the smarter ones.
And now, on a rooftop,
there were two relatively strong n.
One of them, a man with a buzz cut, swallowed and said to the tall man beside him: "If you ask , I think we should leave this place.
You saw it too just now, that monster called Brother Zhang, killed over a hundred zombies in one go!
These zombies, though no longer human, still look like people!
When Brother Zhang killed these ’people,’ he didn’t hesitate, so I feel if we sohow upset him, we might get killed easily too..."
The buzz cut pointed to the distant east as an example:
"Rember Brother Heitao from two months ago? If it weren’t for the fact that we had a lot of people, they might have caused us trouble too.
But this Brother Zhang obviously doesn’t fear our numbers..."
The buzz cut ntioned Brother Heitao, who was from a small gang.
Their leader wielded a fire axe, the second a machete, and the third a steel pipe.
They were extrely dangerous and vicious people.
In the buzz cut’s view, Brother Heitao seed like soone who would do whatever he set out to and would definitely cause them trouble in the future.
Though for so reason, since that eting two months ago, the buzz cut hadn’t seen them again.
"Let’s wait and see." The tall guy shook his head, speaking with so hope: "I feel that Brother Zhang is not like Brother Heitao.
Brother Heitao was a murderer; the two by his side were criminals too.
But I think Brother Zhang... is quite good?
Look, Brother Zhang brought several people, and they all wore the sa animal skins as him.
Especially when fighting zombies earlier, Brother Zhang didn’t let them help.
Isn’t this taking care of them? Protecting his friends?"
"Maybe they knew each other for a long ti, so they’re close." The buzz cut still didn’t dare to gamble, "But we’re just strangers who ca out halfway, unlike them.
Like a friend you’ve known for decades and a stranger you’ve known for seconds, how can that be the sa?
Your comparison is completely invalid."
"You can’t say that." The tall guy shook his head again: "It’s also possible they t halfway. So let’s stop talking and just watch.
Anyway, so people are already trying to make contact; we’ll know by watching."
With that, the tall guy looked toward the mall entrance.
The buzz cut stopped speaking, looking too.
Inside the mall,
The air was filled with the sll of rotting at and vegetables.
Zhang Feng cleared out a few lone zombies and scanned the area.
Other than so packaged and jerky-like foods, items in the cold storage were mostly spoiled.
But the remaining packaged foods and other supplies still occupied most of the mall.
’The survivors outside don’t appear to number more than a hundred.’
Zhang Feng did a quick calculation of the supplies.
’These supplies should be enough to last until the main task is completed without much issue.
Furthermore, these hundred or so people can perhaps help build defensive facilities, encircle the mall, and start cultivating so nearby land.
From my ti in the island survival world, I do have quite a bit of construction experience.
Once we beco self-sufficient, rescuing other survivors later won’t be too much of a food problem.
On the contrary, the more people, the better.
The faster the construction, the safer it will be, and I can free up more ti to handle my own matters.
For example, completing the "zombie constitution" visualization in this world.’
Zhang Feng thought while looking at Old Gao and the others, who were filled with excitent.
They had also worked together to clear zombies earlier.
Now, the task was done.
