The cutlery clattered above a tempered glass table, then silence followed.
Across the table sat dishes capable of reducing even a noble’s heir into a drooling ss.
From his peripheral vision, Azazel could see the well grilled boar, seasoned with a rare spice which made the aroma several tis stronger than it already was.
Smaller dishes like seafood and rice were spread across the table.
Expensive wine decorated glasses of the finest quality, yet in all the splendor of such a magnificent arrangent, Azazel didn’t dare dig in.
Of course he didn’t.
Sitting across him on the other end of the table was Leona.
Azazel gulped then turned his face away.
’Hah... I’m the fool for worrying about this witch! How dare she tornt with the very thing I was craving for, not even enemies tornt each other with food, she is evil, she’s a witch, a witch!’
Leona noticed his expression, then frowned.
"Don’t you have sothing to say, Azazel?"
Azazel’s eyes went wide, his mouth ford a circle while his gaze darted between Leona and Karina who stood directly behind her mistress.
"Do I have sothing to say? Ah yes in fact, I do have a thing or two to say to you, you witch, I’m sure you must have noticed I’ve been away from, say... about three days, and I directly entered the examination the instant I arrived from my voyage, now here you are, taking up my precious ti with this... this... cuisine you have prepared here, to cut the crap... you called here and you’re asking to speak, ah I know I should start by thanking you for the hospitable torture you’ve inflicted on back at the duchy and now, you have my thanks Leona."
Is what he would have liked to say but he knew he was going to die before he finished his lants.
It wasn’t beneath Leona to whoop his arse anywhere and anyti.
Just thinking back on it, when did things actually go wrong?
He had been casually enjoying a tour while making a trip to the restaurant Lily had made a reservation to dine.
Until a familiar black haired girl with an aloof expression interrupted his stroll.
And that was how he found himself, face to face with his sister.
Unlike the last ti he had seen her during the exam, she looked a bit better.
At least the dream orchid worked.
But it was only temporary, he still needed to find the cure to her strange nightmares and for that, he needed to find the cause.
Azazel already had a hint, he wasn’t certain but during the trial, one of the heroines had been affected by Asmodeus dream curse, and that vile demon had made her relive her worst nightmares until Elias himself had noticed.
On that note, the main heroines had yet to show up.
Elias and his party of sweethearts, how utterly repulsive.
Why should that blonde haired gigolo get to play et cute while Azazel was busy babysitting him.
The king didn’t pay him enough for that.
In the ga Leona had been one of them but Azazel would be damned if he were to ever let that happen.
"And what would you have say, dear sister? I must admit I’m rather lost, and the eting was... abrupt."
Leona didn’t respond imdiately, instead she picked up a piece of cutlery arranged beside her plate then cut a thin slice of the grilled boar.
"I have questions," she began. "But I’ll get to the point."
Azazel smiled within his mind.
’It’s about the technique,’ he mused.
"It’s about that chaos technique you used."
’Bingo!’
Azazel kept a poker face on, then sighed.
"Oh that technique? It wasn’t anything big you know, with your intelligence I’m sure it was only a matter of ti till you completed it."
Her hands froze.
Azazel’s grin deepened, he took his cutlery, then cut a piece of the boar.
"I know you’ve been working on advancing the use of our chaos technique and what I just did was complete one."
He bit on the tender at.
"Your research served as the foundation for it, so it would only be fair if you took a little credit for it, don’t you think?"
Leona kept her expression passive but her palms were clenching her cutlery.
She felt like he was mocking her, telling her that she could try all she wanted but he would be the one to claim the rewards.
It wasn’t beneath him.
She wouldn’t have bothered if it was another person but for soone like Azazel, it was unforgivable.
He had no right to claim her research but she also knew she had no right either, not when she couldn’t account for the fact that one could influence the space itself.
She was angry but curious, and her curiosity as a scholar was suppressing the rage.
Azazel never ant any harm with his words, he simply wanted her to acquire the technique way earlier than expected.
The smile never left his face as he savored the taste of the dish.
At least it didn’t until Leona asked her next question.
"Do you rember Miro... no, nevermind."
The atmosphere shifted imdiately.
Karina’s aloof expression cracked as she stared at her mistress in shock.
Azazel’s hand hovered just about the grilled boar.
He didn’t know why but the mont he heard that na, sothing inside him snapped.
It felt familiar, and it felt wrong.
His hands trembled, it wasn’t subtle. It was visible, and it didn’t go unnoticed by Leona.
Azazel didn’t even notice how hard he was breathing...
Behind him Lily stared with a small frown.
"W-Who?"
Leona’s eyes narrowed for a flicker of a second.
Her lips twitched like she was about to say sothing but she stopped.
Azazel took the mont to take a deep shaky breath.
Confusion flickered across his face.
’Who’s Miro... and why am I feeling this way? S-Sothing’s wrong—’
Ignoring his state, Leona spoke again.
This ti more frigid, almost emotionless.
"Have you heard of the Chaos order of our clan?"
