"Ladies, how have you been these past few days?"
"If you, the absentee boss, didn't always pop in and out of existence, we might be even better!" Lin Qiu, startled by the sudden appearance, glanced irritably at Chu Feng standing before her.
Taran, standing next to her, gave a slight smile and produced a docunt, handing it to him.
"This is the plan we just finalized. Since you're back, take a look!"
"What's this?"
"Rember that matter you told about the other day? This is the contingency plan for it!"
"That matter?" Chu Feng paused, recalling what he seed to have ntioned that day...
He flipped through the docunt without much interest. After all, he would be paying less and less attention to the firm in the future, relying mainly on its own operations.
"Alright, you handle it! I ca back for sothing else!"
Returning the docunt to Taran, Chu Feng looked thoughtfully at the two won before him.
"What is it? Why are you staring at us like that?"
Feeling Chu Feng's intense gaze, Lin Qiu uncomfortably checked her clothes but found nothing amiss.
"Do you... know where Jas has gone?"
"Jas?" The two won exchanged astonished glances. "Chu Feng, why are you asking about this person too?"
"Who exactly is Jas? Was there really such a person in our firm?"
Just the day before, Lin Qiu and Taran had carefully reviewed the firm's personnel records and found no entry for anyone nad Jas.
Seeing their sincere confusion, Chu Feng's expression suddenly darkened.
He hadn't expected that even they would have lost their mories of Jas.
If the mories of Jas weren't still vivid in his mind, he might have doubted if he'd fallen prey to a Bizarre illusion.
Chu Feng didn't answer their questions. Instead, he presented several antique-looking silver coins to them.
"Then do you rember this?"
"What's this? Did you get your hands on so antique?" Lin Qiu asked with confusion, picking up a silver coin and examining it in her palm.
They really did a thorough cleanup! Noting the puzzled looks in their eyes, Chu Feng inwardly sighed.
"What cleanup?"
"Nothing. I have an urgent matter to attend to. Goodbye!"
Watching Chu Feng's hurried departure, Lin Qiu and Taran gradually furrowed their brows.
"Do you think this Jas... could he really exist? And that he truly was a mber of our firm..." Lin Qiu's voice was hesitant.
"While this matter is very strange, we should trust Chu Feng. He definitely wouldn't joke about sothing like this!"
Taran said this without any hesitation. Due to her absolute trust in Chu Feng, she chose to believe Jas was a real person.
Upon hearing this, Lin Qiu slowly clenched her fists, her expression darkening. "When could it have happened? What kind of Bizarre could have altered our mories without us noticing!"
She instinctively thought back to a mont a few days ago in her office: the cell phone and Warning Crystal she had taken out for so unknown reason.
If this matter with Jas were true, then she must have been targeted then!
"That thing's power shouldn't be so great that it's completely irresistible. At least, it can't alter everyone's mories instantly!"
Thinking about the issues with several Exorcists that day, Taran began to understand a few things.
That entity, which could tentatively be called a Bizarre, was certainly powerful. It could subtly modify their mories, the information on their phones, and even any physical evidence of Jas's existence. But it shouldn't be able to delete or modify everyone's mories simultaneously!
That's why those Exorcists had suddenly lost their mories a few days prior.
Walking out of the office building and looking up at the pale red sky, Chu Feng felt montarily lost.
Though Blue Star wasn't too large, searching it thoroughly would be no small task!
His gaze was drawn to a passing car. When he saw the two children and two adults seated inside, a glint of light flashed in Chu Feng's eyes.
That's right, Jas's family!
It was the house Jas bought with his first commission; Chu Feng had only been there once. He rembered how excited Jas had been about it for a long ti.
A streak of iridescent light flashed across the New York sky, and in the blink of an eye, Chu Feng appeared above a quaint, beige building.
No one?
Chu Feng slowly descended into the leaf-strewn courtyard. The house was eerily quiet, looking as if it had been abandoned for a long ti.
The round table in the courtyard was covered with a thick layer of dust, and even the once-vibrant flowerbeds had all wilted and died.
Peculiarly, though the human inhabitants had disappeared, there were no signs of wild animals having visited. Even the chirping of birds, so common during Chu Feng's last visit, was absent. The dust-covered courtyard bore no animal footprints, not even the slightest trace of crawling insects.
This place was like a zone forbidden to life.
Chu Feng gently pushed the closed door.
With a soft CREAK, the door, untouched for a long ti, swung open once more.
It wasn't locked, which was inconsistent with the family having left for a long trip.
This sll?
The odor that wafted out as the door opened made Chu Feng wrinkle his nose in discomfort. It seed to be the sll of rotting food.
Passing through the small living room, he saw a dining table laden with various foods. But now, the food had clearly rotted completely. So items were beyond recognition, seemingly on the verge of disintegrating. Other foods might have been less perishable, but even they hadn't escaped decay over such a long ti. A thick, grey-green mold covered them, making Chu Feng shake his head.
The lavish al was still on the table, and the cutlery looked as if it had just been used.
Clearly, the family had disappeared in the middle of dinner.
Glancing at the still-lit dining room lights, Chu Feng silently searched for useful clues.
After checking the dining room, he headed upstairs.
All the photographs along the way showed only backgrounds; the people who should have been in them had vanished completely.
Clearly, all traces of Jas's family's existence in this world had been erased.
He reached out and opened a closed door—what should have been Jas's eldest daughter's bedroom.
Looking at the completely empty room, Chu Feng was stunned.
No desk, no bed, no wardrobe... none of the things that should have been there.
