Through the entire car ride, to the mont of their arrival at the gallery for the benefit, Caishen could not stop wondering about Alix's words ant. What gift did she intend to get from him?

What was this sly woman thinking? He kept sneaking glances at her, and looking away when she caught him staring. Caishen could not rember the last ti he had been this nervous about sothing related to a woman.

He looked at her as she handed their invitations over to a security guard at the door and they were allowed inside.

"Well, we are here." she told him.

"I have eyes miss Lin but thank you for pointing it out." he responded.

He could so clearly see the beautifully decorated gallery, the expensive paintings which were on display all around. The beautiful and handso guests who were well dressed and sparkling in fine jewels. And not to be missed where the glasses of champagne which were not allowed to sit empty for even a second.

The waiters and waitresses working the gala had probably been instructed to ensure that the guests glasses did not dry.

He knew how this worked because he had attended such events many tis before.

He rembered what she had said before and he looked up at her.

"Are you nervous?"

She squeezed his shoulder and smiled. "With you by my side, never."

"Let's just find a table." he answered in an exhausted voice.

He was not deeply exhausted because he had been working. It was because she would not quit saying sweet nothings to him every chance she got.

Alix maintained her hand on his shoulder and they slowly headed into the crowd of attendees.

Each invitation card had a table number and they located their table quickly.

All the tables sat six people and Caishen was not surprised to find his friends sitting at the sa table as he would be soon.

Alix was nervous but Caishen took her hand and nodded. She nodded at those who had arrived before they did and took a sit.

"Ooh, our young master has finally appeared at a public event. Sister-in-law, I am Rongyan, the cute doctor. We t when you visited the hospital last ti." Rongyan spoke up first.

"I rember." she answered softly with a smile on her face.

"Whatever he told you is a lie." Gu Biming chid in quickly.

"Hey," Rongyan and raised his arms in a questioning manner as he eyed Biming with expected disbelief in his eyes.

Alix chuckled lightly and shook her head.

Du Fuzi rolled his eyes, thinking to himself that Rongyan was an idiot. "Caishen, won't you introduce the rest of us?"

Caishen looked at Alix and then at his friends.

"This is Du Fuzi and Si Huang Chen. You have already t the other two."

Alix bowed her head albeit only slightly.

"Hello, I am Lin Alix." she said in a soft voice.

Du Fuzi smiled brightly and put his hand forward.

Alix thought he wanted to shake her hand so she freely put her right hand forward.

What Du Fuzi did however surprised her. He raised her hand and kissed it on the back.

Alix gasped and pulled her hand back. Quickly she looked at Caishen with her eyes wide, protesting her innocence.

Caishen frowned at Du Fuzi, very unhappy with what had just happened.

Rongyan and the others chuckled secretly. It almost as if they had been expecting this to happen.

Du Fuzi raised his hands defensively and looked at his friend. "Sorry, I got carried away because I t a beautiful woman. Caishen, you are a lucky man."

"Excuse gentlen and lady." Madam Qian ca over, interrupting whatever was going on at the table. "Thank you so much for attending our annual Ko-Qian benefit."

"It's for charity, we are happy to be here." Si Huang Chen said.

Du Fuzi snorted.

All of them would have been happy to send in donations without having to attended what the event.

"Yes, we are happy to be here." he repeated his friend's words.

Biming looked around the room and said, "It's a great turn out this year madam Qian. I have seen more than a couple of deep pockets in the mix."

Madam Qian smiled graciously and replied, "I am so grateful for this blessing. And the deepest pocket of them all is right here at this table."

All eyes moved to Caishen and he acted as if he did not notice them.

"Young master Zhang, may I steal your wife please? She needs to start performing in thirty minutes so I want her to prepare appropriately."

Caishen was okay with it of course because it was the reason why they had co in the first place.

"Please excuse ." Alix told everyone.

She leaned her head over and whispered to Caishen, "I will see you later hubby Zhang. Make sure that you watch clearly, I am only playing for you and no one else."

She squeezed his arm, stood up and then left with madam Qian.

As as they left, the n at the table looked curiously at Caishen.

"Oh-ho-ho, you and your wife are even whispering now." Du Fuzi chuckled.

"We are husband and wife, isn't it natural?" Caishen answered arrogantly.

His friends laughed boisterously and those with wine or champagne glasses clicked them together.

"Is this what they an by the one thousand year iron tree blooming?" Huang Cheng asked.

Biming shook his head and said, "No, it's more like the ten thousand year old fruit tree sprouting."

"You do know that the iron tree blooming ans good luck, right?" Caishen asked them.

Du Fuzi waved his hand, dismissing Caishen's usual addition of the facts.

"You know what we an." he said.

"I have an extra iron tree which I picked up from the temple and I am going to giving it to you as a wedding gift." Huang Cheng told Caishen.

As the n continued teasing Caishen, Alix briefly stepped away from Madam Qian and went to the bathroom.

On her way out, she bumped into her sister Lin Billi.

"Watch it." Lin Billi shoved Alix.

Alix was not a weakling anymore and she hardly moved when she was shoved.

A look of disdain ca over Billi's face when she saw that the person she had bumped into and shoved was none other than Alix.

"It's you, what are you doing here?" she spat out venomously.
