Chapter 59: The Mole

Explosive footage filled the cara lens. Hawk felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. Balancing the cara in one hand, he leaned against the lamppost and slid down.

After unhooking the rope, he quickly checked the footage to ensure nothing was missed. Then, crossing the street, he hid in the parking lot.

Monts later, a patrol car, flashing red and blue lights, drove south along the road.

Hawk didn’t rush to leave. Instead, he called Edward and sat in the car to review the recording.

The night and the distance made the footage less sharp, but the powerful cara Eric had given him compensated. Multiple close-ups clearly identified the participants in the scene.

At this mont, Hawk fully understood why Bro Derek had forgiven Sarah Parker and why the couple still appeared so affectionate in public after their scandal.

Edward returned, knocking on the passenger window before climbing in. “Boss, what did you capture?”

Hawk turned the cara display toward him. “Take a look.”

Edward’s eyes widened. “I knew it! These people are insane!”

He stamred, “They’re playing so wild while we’re stuck outside watching. It’s too much—it’s not fair!”

“What? You want to join them?” Hawk quipped while connecting the cara to his laptop to transfer the video.

Edward waved his hands frantically. “No, no, not my thing. I couldn’t handle that at all.”

This guy’s mind was always in the gutter. “What about you, boss?” Edward asked, half-joking.

Hawk casually replied, “If it were young Brooke Shields and Jennifer Connelly together, I’d be thrilled. And if Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron invited now, I wouldn’t say no.”

Edward couldn’t take the bravado. “I’m sure of it now—you’ve lost your mind.”

Hawk finished transferring the footage and made two backup copies.

Edward asked eagerly, “So, do we sell the video next?”

Hawk decided to teach Edward sothing. “There are three options, my friend. First, we sell it to the TV stations as we’ve done before. gan Taylor at Channel 11 would probably offer a high price. Second, we approach Valley distributors—Sex and the City’s lead actress in a threeso? They’d pay well. Lastly, we sell it to the parties involved, which might fetch an even higher price, though it’s riskier.”

Edward, not one for complex plans, shrugged. “Isn’t the point just to make money?”

That was true on the surface, but Hawk had more in mind than just profit.

Bro Derek wasn’t just an executive producer with power in the film industry; unlike the drug-addled Robert Downey Jr., he was tough to bring down.

This video could serve as a stepping stone, stirring the pot in unexpected ways.

Bro Derek’s status as a film company executive and producer was leagues above that of any celebrity.

Hawk glanced at his phone. Tonight’s episode of Midnight Entertainnt had already started.

He started the car and drove straight to Beverly Hills, heading for the Fox Broadcasting Center. He handed Edward the backups and took the laptop upstairs.

With his Channel 11 correspondent badge, Hawk entered the building. The Midnight Entertainnt broadcast had just ended.

When Claire ntioned Hawk’s arrival, gan Taylor ca to et him without even removing her makeup.

Hawk quickly took in her appearance: short skirt, stockings, high heels, fitted blazer, and a plunging neckline—all classic Fox style, emphasizing her legs, chest, and face.

“You’re even prettier in person,” Hawk said politely.

“Thank you,” gan replied, getting straight to business. “What do you have for ? Is it headline-worthy?”

Hawk sat at the office desk, booting up his laptop. “Just a mont.”

gan moved closer, standing beside him.

Hawk warned, “You’d better get the budget ready in advance. I’m worried you’ll exceed your limit for this month.”

“Is it that explosive?” she asked, intrigued.

“Very explosive,” Hawk assured her.

gan imdiately called soone to prepare funding.

Even at this hour, the Fox Broadcasting Center was bustling.

As the laptop booted up, Hawk opened the video and hit play.

Through the faint wind noise in the footage, three figures appeared. One sat on the couch, observing.

The initial part wasn’t very clear, but the cara soon adjusted, and the footage sharpened, zooming in for close-ups.

gan tapped the spacebar to pause the video.

Studying the three individuals, she quickly identified them. “The woman is Sex and the City lead Sarah Parker. The man on the couch looks like her husband, Bro Derek. The guy behind her... he seems familiar.”

Hawk, having researched the couple and the Sex and the City cast, supplied the na: “Jason Lewis. He was a model for major brands before transitioning to acting. His career hasn’t been stellar.”

gan nodded slightly and resud the video.

Her breathing quickened as she watched, the heat from her exhalations practically igniting the air around Hawk.

This was a dia professional’s natural reaction to explosive news.

When the video ended, gan placed a trembling hand on Hawk’s shoulder. “Play it again.”

Hawk noticed her hand shaking as he replayed the video.

gan’s eyes widened, unblinking, as she confird the footage and identities.

Given the sensitivity of such content, it was vital to verify everything.

Unlike adult film stars whose identities were harder to confirm with clothes on, Hollywood actresses were dazzling when dressed but surprisingly ordinary without makeup, leading to doubts about their authenticity.

gan, wary of unscrupulous journalists, said, “I need soone to confirm their identities.”

Hawk didn’t trust her either. “We’ll do it here.”

gan called in three people, one carrying a laptop.

Using footage from Sarah Parker’s past films with more explicit scenes, they compared key features.

One woman pointed to the screen. “See here, here, and here—the moles match perfectly.”

A man chid in, “It’s definitely her.”

gan dismissed the team, instructing them to keep it confidential.

When the room cleared, Hawk nad his price. “$100,000. The video is yours.”

gan leaned back in her chair, arms crossed. “Downey’s gone, but Sarah isn’t.”

Hawk stood. “I’ve also contacted Christina from Entertainnt Tonight on Channel 6.”

gan knew this type of news was rare and in high demand. “The usual terms.”

“Deal,” Hawk agreed.

They finalized the contract, and Hawk received a check. Since it was late, the process took longer than usual.

Claire took the copy to the editing room.

As Hawk left the building, gan happened to be heading out too.

In the elevator, she noticed sothing and remarked, “Your pants are torn.”

Hawk glanced down. The inner thigh seam had split, likely from sliding down the pole. He shrugged. “Climbing walls and rooftops—it happens.”

Next ti, he vowed to bring a lift and pose as a maintenance worker.

As they walked to the parking lot, gan gave him a once-over. “You’re in good shape.”

Hawk replied casually, “I work out regularly.”

gan nodded, saying nothing more before heading to her car.

Hawk got into the van Edward was driving. “Buddy, you’re getting a bonus tomorrow.”

The following morning, gan arrived at the station before 10 a.m. and called a eting with the core team.

Before everyone gathered, Claire rushed over. “gan, the channel director, Cynthia Rosberg, wants you to seal last night’s video and report to her office imdiately!”

gan’s expression sharpened as her gaze swept the room.

Soone on her team might be a mole.
