The second I walk down the stairs and into the kitchen, I et Jules’s curious eyes. He hasn’t actually said anything to us. apart from the quick hello we had outside the house. he doesn’t seem too bothered with our presence and that makes feel a little better.

"Co on, you lot spent a lot of ti freshening up. I almost thought of eating without you.’’ he smiles as he makes his complaint which makes think of this as a joke. We walk towards the table and I see all the at on the table. The kind of at that I wouldn’t have been given the opportunity to eat in the community. Usually, the alphas eat to their content, and then the rest are left for the ogas. Yeah, I know ever since Beau took over, things have changed but I still wonder why things were the way they were before. Jabi ntioned it when he wanted to leave and I tried to justify things but they don’t make sense. There was segregation when there didn’t need to be. The ogas needed the at more than the Alphas. We aren’t as strong as them, we don’t have the energy to hunt properly for ourselves. With that, we should have been considered. Not ostracized like that.

I want to object and say that he isn’t newly turned but I don’t think this is the right ti to say that. deep down, Gyles has always been a wolf. His wolf has been inside of him. he has always been one. The fact that his mories kept his wolf suppressed doesn’t an that he is a new blood.

"Just have a bite,’’ Jules throws the leg of the deer in front of him. I might look savagery. I an, the blood is still dripping but this is the most enticing feast I have ever witnessed. My wolf wants to start eating but I don’t know how it works here. I don’t know if Jules would be upset if I do start eating.

I watch Gyles as he picks the leg up. I guess we all have our eyes on him as he places it close to his lips "Co on, just a bite. This is the sa thing that happened to my son when I brought his wolf out. You just have to give your wolf control. Let him take the wheel,’’ he urges him calmly. His voice is low and very reassuring. This is the kind of person that would make a good leader. Jules is a kind man and I am sure that is why Rick took a liking to him all those years. I have t him a couple of tis as a kid. I always thought he was scary as he has always been huge but right now, he seems like a good shoulder to lean on. He seems like a good person and I am happy that Blue has him.

I watch the transition. The look of disgust in Gyles’s eyes changes in a split second as his canine cos out. I an, I see the blue eyes. I see his wolf even though it is not fully out and that irritation turns to hunger as he pierces the at into his teeth. A smile sprawls on my face as he starts to chew the at. I guess we all have the sa expressions on our faces as I glance away from him and to the others on the table. Blue has the widest smile on his face right now. I guess this is comforting to him because we don’t have blood right now. I know that he might eventually need blood and I wanted to suggest him having my blood because I rember that Beau gave Alanis his blood and they are fine.

If it cos down to that, I will offer him mine in a heartbeat.

"How is it?" Blue mutters excitedly even though the way he is devouring the leg just answers that question. Gyles looks up from the at but he doesn’t stop chewing.

"Delicious,’’ he manages huskily, and my heart pounds in my chest at how alluring he sounds. He doesn’t waste a second as he continues to eat and everyone starts to do the sa. I remain on my seat, unsure of what to do. I don’t know the situation here and I don’t want to ss things up.

After a couple of minutes of devouring and chewing sounds, Jules looks up and I think he finally notices "Why aren’t you eating?’’ he asks with a confused look.

I shrug "I’ll wait till you’re all done.’’

He frowns "Why will you do that?’’

"I usually wait until the Alphas are done before I eat.’’

I manage a smile because I don’t want to make a big deal out of this. the fact that I even got food in the first place was a blessing to . so ogas didn’t even have the opportunities that I had and I don’t want to start whining and complaining when things are really good for .

Jules scoffs "Is this the community?’’ he asks.
