As I was agonizing over where to put the points in, a notification popped up from the system.

[Villain System Notification]

» New Task Unlocked!

TASK 1 - Fight with the protagonist in the CLASS DIVISION EXAM.

>Click to learn more

Finally.

I was waiting for this mont for a long ti.

The only way to get what I want is to earn lots of story points.

And the way to earn story points are the tasks only.

There are always so bonus tasks like the ones I got from just entering the academy, and visiting the facilities, etc.

But they don’t have much story points as rewards.

So, naturally, the main tasks must have a significant amount of story points.

I tapped on the ’Click to learn more’ option, to find out exactly how much story points I would get.

───[TASK 1 - Fight with the Protagonist in the Class Division Exam]Objective: Engage in a combat encounter with the designated protagonist during the class division event.Bonus Objective: Leave a lasting impression (positive or negative) on at least 3 faculty mbers.Rewards:→ 100 Story Points───

Well....100 story points isn’t actually that bad.

Still not enough to buy an appraisal skill though.

But, it’s just the start of the story, so I should be patient enough.

The task was obvious that of a villain.

To attack the main character in the class division exam is such a typical move in stories.

In the original web novel too, Dorian attacks the main character in this exam, and was utterly crushed.

Moreover, due to his rash behavior, he was kept in the lowest class, which added fuel to his reason for revenge.

And thus, creating tension, it sets the tone of the story.

Because, this exam event doesn’t involve only the fight between Dorian and the MC.

It introduces the other important characters like female leads, side characters, and villains.

So, what should be my motive in this exam?

Well, the obvious answer should be to act according to the system, and gain that 100 story points as promised.

But, there has been an irresistible feeling I am having, since I read the story.

Due to the mory loss, I don’t even know myself anymore.

So, I have no idea of why I have been feeling like this.

And that is to ss the story up as much as I can.

The idea alone sent a ripple of sothing twisted through my chest. Was it excitent? Spite? Or just the will of whatever had bound to this cursed system?

I didn’t know.

But I knew one thing—if I was ant to be the villain, I wouldn’t be a disposable one.

I’d be the kind of villain that hijacks the plot.

The kind that rewrites the narrative.

The kind that doesn’t just oppose the protagonist...

...but shatters the foundation that made him.

I stood up and looked at my reflection in the window.

My eyes were colder now, calculating.

Beneath the surface, sothing darker stirred.

If the world expected a noble fool, I’d give them a monster dressed in reason.

This exam? It’s not just a task. It’s an opportunity.

To make a statent.

To set the tone—not of their story, but mine.

Let them see a villain who doesn’t lose. A villain who sches.

One who smiles while burning everything the world believes in.

As I was embarking upon a "world conquering idea", certain sounds could be heard around .

More precisely, from the room next to .

Those were sounds you wouldn’t be able to hear normally.

"Aah~"

"Aangh~"

"Harder~"

The moans went louder and louder.

I was utterly in shock at first, but well...what can I say to this type of behavior.

Obviously, I wouldn’t let it slide, and find out who the hell the source of this sound is, and make sure they get what they deserve.

For the ti being, I ignored the sound, and focused on the task at hand.

I would have to use the 6 story points on my stats.

The question was on which stat should I use them.

Well, the logical answer was to use them on physical abilities like strength, agility and endurance.

I had skills of Basic Swordsmanship and Parry, so agility would be a good option to invest.

Also, I wonder why there is no stat like mana level, because I have skills related to magic too.

"System, why is there no mana stat in my status window?", I asked.

[Mana stat would be visible after you reach Level 5 of Basic Elental Magic.]

Ohh.....

So, the level is not enough.

No mana stat until I prove I can use magic, and I can’t really use magic well until I know my mana levels. It’s the perfect catch-22.

I leaned against the wall and rolled the knife between my fingers.

A knife would be useful to keep around in this academy of literal monsters from my standard.

Speaking of monsters...

"Aah~"

"Aangh~"

The moaning had started up again. From the room next door.

At first, I thought it was the kind of noise that belongs behind locked doors and drawn curtains.

But it kept going. And going.

Louder.

Harder.

Desperate.

And...strange.

The rhythm was wrong. Off-beat. Like a violin playing slightly out of tune.

At first, I tried to brush it off. Just another pair of hormone-fueled nobles who didn’t care about walls. Rich degenerates were nothing new.

But then...

Then sothing changed.

The pitch of the moans. They weren’t moans anymore.

They were cries.

"Aa—! H-help—!"

Suddenly, all of the hairs on my neck stood up.

I froze.

The knife in my hand stopped spinning.

My muscles tensed, and my breath slowed.

I pressed my ear to the wall.

Silence.

For a mont, there was nothing. Just dead air.

Then—

CRACK!

Two hands exploded through the wall, splinters flying like shrapnel, and grabbed my throat.

Pale. Long. Cold fingers—too strong to belong to any human.

They clenched down around my neck, crushing my windpipe.

My body slamd into the wall behind .

I gasped, tried to scream, but no air ca out.

My knife—thankfully still in hand—slashed forward with everything I had.

SHLNK!

The blade sliced clean through the wrists, bone and sinew parting with a spray of black blood.

The hands dropped, twitching.

I collapsed to the floor, coughing, clutching at my throat as air finally surged back into my lungs.

Blood splattered across the floor, the wall, my chest.

My pulse was still hamring in my ears.

What... the hell was that?
