She rembered, Alza was a fox, completely snow-white, a very ordinary breed, with a frail body.

His fur was clean, but long lacked luster, and his ears were always slightly drooping.

He didn’t like to talk much, always used to curling up in a corner.

When he first awakened, she felt sorry for him and took the initiative to help relieve his ntal stress without charging a penny.

She would sit beside him, gently patting his back, accompanying him in conversation.

At that ti, she felt he was the one who needed care the most, also the one most easily hurt.

Later, she got married.

The wedding was simple, with not many guests, even Alza didn’t attend.

She moved away from that area, changed to a new social circle, gradually stopped ntioning past events.

But so things, in the end, have never really passed.

It’s been three years now, by all logic, he should have been paired by this age.

How could he still be left here with no one to care for him?

Alza is already twenty-seven this year.

In their world, almost all males have completed spiritual bonding and life binding in their early twenties.

Yet he still remained solitary in this desolate corner.

Selene Kane bent down to enter this small, dilapidated house, the sll of herbs assaulting her senses.

The house was so low it was almost difficult to stand up straight.

The roof was barely supported by a few decaying wooden beams.

She had to bend down, carefully passing through the low door fra.

That sll was off, not like the fragrant herbs properly brewed.

Instead, it slled like wild grass freshly pulled from the ground not long ago.

At a glance, she saw a pile of weeds stacked in the corner of the wall.

Beastn had an innate sensitivity to plants, could recognize seven or eight kinds of simple herbs.

But their effects were ultimately lacking.

Their blood carried an instinctual perception of nature.

Especially sensitive to the essence of plants and trees.

With just a glance or a sniff, they could roughly determine the use of common pain-relieving herbs, fever-reducing leaves, or cooling vines.

But rely relying on intuition to gather herbs could not replace professional pharmacological knowledge.

Incorrect dosage and improper pairing.

Not only could it fail to cure the illness, but it might worsen the condition.

And Alza clearly had no way out, could only rely on instinct to explore the forest for survival.

"Who?"

The voice ca from the innermost part of the house, from a pile of dry grass.

Usually, only Luna would co here to look after him. Why would there be another female here today?

Luna was the only caregiver in the village, visiting twice a week, bringing basic food and dicine, checking his ntal state.

Other than that, no one else was willing to step into this secluded small house.

Alza’s condition was special, his spiritual power damaged, his emotions extrely unstable.

The alliance had suggested several tis to send him to a sanatorium, but he had resolutely refused.

And today, the sudden appearance of another unfamiliar female aura made him instinctively alert.

Following the voice, Selene Kane saw Alza curled up on the pile of dry grass.

Her gaze slowly swept over the dim interior.

There was a figure huddled there, small and almost blending with the weeds.

He wrapped his arms around his knees, head buried low.

The whole person was curled up into a tiny ball.

It was too dark inside, so she couldn’t see his face.

But in her mory, he always had a gentle and quiet deanor.

Selene Kane squinted, trying to adapt to the dim environnt.

Though unable to see his features, she rembered his past appearance.

Elegant brows, soft lips, always speaking with a faint smile.

At this mont, though his features were blurred, the familiar silhouette still stirred ripples in her heart.

He was much thinner than before.

Obviously a male, yet almost devoid of shape, curled into such a small bundle.

If not for his still tall masculine fra, she might have mistaken him for a frail female.

His arms were as thin as withered branches.

His clothes hung loosely, the cuffs and trouser legs empty.

If not for retaining his uniquely masculine tall skeleton,

Just by appearance, no one would believe he was once a male with powerful spiritual power.

She slowly approached, her eyes gradually adjusting to the darkness, finally seeing his features clearly.

His skin was pale to the point of transparency, lips chapped and pallid, a few strands of black hair fell ssily over his forehead, covering most of his eyes.

His shoulders slumped severely, and when he propped himself on the bed with one hand, the whole person seed ready to topple.

He tried to support his body, arms trembling slightly.

His shoulders collapsed inward, spine bending dreadfully.

At that mont, Selene Kane even feared he might fall with just a little force.

Selene Kane even lightened her breathing, speaking in a low, gentle voice.

"It’s , I’m Selene Kane, I’ve co back to see you."

She didn’t dare raise her voice, afraid of startling him, nor did she dare get too close.

She rely stood quietly a few steps away.

Her fingertips had just reached out, not yet touching his sleeve.

Alza’s body, like a startled beast, shrank back sharply, retreating quickly, back pressed tightly against the wall, eyes instantly becoming wary.

"Don’t lie to ... she’s doing so well, how could she rember ."

This sentence slipped gently from Alza’s cracked lips.

He cowered in the corner, arms tightly around his knees.

"Selene, I dread of you again... in the dream you were standing in the flowers, smiling, sunlight falling on your hair like gold. But as soon as I reached out, you disappeared... this ti, can you take with you? I really can’t hold on anymore... living like this, it would have been better to have died in that fire."

Selene Kane slowly withdrew her extended hand.

There was no excess expression on her face, her eyes calm.

She was no longer the person she used to be.

The soul has changed, though the mories remain, the emotions are separated by endless distances.

To those once close to her.

She could reach out, save once, help once.

But that didn’t an she was willing to beco entangled again, to be moved again.

No, she couldn’t do that.

"Since you’re fine, I’ll go find the leader."

With those words, she turned and left.

Her silhouette cast on the mottled earthen wall.

Suddenly, a thin yet warm body pounced on her from behind.

The person trembled violently.

Yet those bony arms used all their strength.

"Don’t go... please don’t go..."

The voice choked and trembled, laced with crying tones.

"I was wrong, I shouldn’t have let my thoughts run wild... shouldn’t have doubted you would abandon ... I shouldn’t have said those hurtful words... please don’t go, stay with a little longer, okay? Just a while... I promise not to talk, not to bother you, just let hold you for a mont..."

Alza’s eyelashes were long, trembling slightly like butterfly wings.

As a mber of the Fox Clan, he naturally carried a hint of allure, his brows and eyes always carried a touch of beguiling beauty.

Even now, emaciated and deford, face pale as paper, eyes sunken.

At certain monts, his once handso charm still flickered faintly.

He lowered his head, nose pressed closely to the back of her neck.

Suddenly, his whole body froze.

He drew a sharp breath, as if to confirm sothing.

Then, those absent eyes suddenly brightened, filled with astonished disbelief.

"It’s your scent... Selene? Is it really you?"
