"Is that Lily?"
"Did soone invite her?"
Questions, incoherent murmurs, and gasps echoed inside the room as they watched Lily sat on one of the vacant chairs next to Thomas.
"Why are you here?" Ron asked. As she watched Lily sat opposite to him.
"As the biggest shareholder, I have the very right to be here." She said. "Even if I’m not invited." She sent the old man an arrogant smirk. She then looked at the other Shareholders. "Thank you for waiting. I think we can start the eting now."
Various expressions flashed on the older n’s faces. So were clearly speechless because of her words. So were surprised, and so faces reddened in anger.
"Who invited you here?" one middle-aged shareholder asked. "This is a private eting, you shouldn’t be here." In response lifted her shoulder in a half shrug before she bead at the man.
"You are not a major shareholder. Jun Liang’s shares are only five percent, that is— "
"I am now," Lily said before she handed a folder to Thomas. "I now own both Zhou Jingren and Zhou Dae Un’s shares." She leaned against her chair. "This ans... I own forty-two percent of this company." Her lips blood into a satisfied smirked as she watched everyone’s face turned purple. Anger and frustration imdiately clouded the atmosphere.
Murmurs arouse between the group as so of them insisted on seeing a copy of the docunts. Seeing the panic and confusion in their faces, Lily’s eyes crinkled. All the shareholders are male and if her guess was right, most of them should have the sa beliefs as Isaac. The way they glared at her was enough for her to have this conclusion.
"You — they transferred it under your na!?" Ron asked in disbelief. Zhou Dae Un and Zhou Jingren could not just sell their shares to Lily because they own a sizeable amount of stocks in the company. Their contract stated that they needed to get the signatures of at least seven of the ten shareholders to be able to sell the shares.
Ron and Thomas originally thought that this rule will not allow Zhou Jingren to sell his shares to Lily. Who would have thought that they will decide to give it to her?
"Is this even legal?" One shareholder asks the other.
"I am his wife and Zhou Dae Un’s daughter-in-law. These shares are gifts..." she answered. "For my birthday months ago." Lily could not celebrate her birthday because Jack kidnapped her. So her reasoning is only reasonable, right?
"Lily... Don’t you think this is a bit excessive?" Thomas asked.
"Is there really such as thing as excessive when it cos to business, Mr. Lee?" She countered. "No offense but... profit is profit."
"So you are planning to sell it fifteen percent more than the market price?" One shareholder dared to ask. No one in this room could believe that sothing like this would happen. "Aren’t you afraid that... the dia will get ahold of this?"
"Oh, No... I am sure that Mr. Lee and Mr. Liang will make sure that it won’t happen."
"What is she talking about? Are you going to let this happen?" the man directed his question to Thomas. "As the CEO... you have a responsibility to take care of this company! If you are planning to protect this woman, then I guess we should choose a new CEO!"
"Mr. Lin, calm down. Thomas is not planning anything like that." Ron interjected. He then eyed Lily’s languid position. "You seem so confident that you can use this as leverage against us. Let’s not forget that the shareholder’s contract would — "
"Shh." She raised held her hand. "Let’s cut the chase. I already said that you and Thomas will protect . Or have you gone deaf from your age?"
"How dare you strode inside her and disrespect Secretary Ron?" the shareholder na Mr. Wang chid in. "He might be the previous director’s secretary but he is very much involved in this company just like everyone else!"
On the outside, the words sound as if he was protecting Ron Liang and reprimanding Lily. But soone with a deep mind could easily say that there was sothing wrong with his statent. Ron is not a shareholder. He is the previous director’s secretary. However, just like everyone else... he is very much involved in this company.
Why would he involve himself so much in the company when he was only a secretary? Moreover, the director was already dead.
As expected, Ron Liang’s face turned ugly as realization flashed in the rest of the shareholder’s eyes. How could he miss the aning behind Mr. Wang’s poisonous words? These n had been in the industry for decades. Surely, sothing like this is so easy for them to comprehend.
Interest shone in Lily’s eyes as she heard the man’s words. She rested her elbow on the circular mahogany table and propped her chin into her palms. She looked at Mr. Wang, assessing him for a few seconds before she answered, "You are right. I shouldn’t disrespect soone as significant as Mr. Liang."
"She’s crazy, isn’t she?" Surprisingly, Adrian who was sitting the farthest from Lily spoke. He had been keeping his silence since this eting started because he felt that he could contribute nothing good to this eting. Not when his anger towards this woman is clouding his thoughts.
"Crazy is an understatent, Mr. Lee," Lily answered. eting the man’s eyes, a sinister gleam glinted in her orbs. "Trust ... Crazy is such a simple word to describe ."
"Is this the reason why you are here? To disturb this eting?" Ron asked, unamused. The fact that he is not soone important in this company is true. He used to be the director’s secretary and a good friend. But aside from that, he is nothing. The law would not allow him to be here as he simply does not have the right to be here. "We already told you that we needed ti to decide!" He said, his voice stern, like a father trying to reprimand a child.
