Chapter 175 – We don’t need your fatherly love (1)
It was Zhang Xiying who went upstairs to get the pair of siblings when it was dinner ti.
ng Shanshan, who was still mad at her brother a second ago, gripped her brother’s hand tightly and followed closely behind him. Perhaps, she was intimidated being in a strange environnt.
By the ti the two of them went downstairs, the other three were already sitting there properly, waiting for them.
At the rectangular table, ng Yan took the host spot and Zhang Xiying and Zhang Xiruo sat over at his left-hand side. Obviously, the empty spots to his right were reserved for ng Yuran and ng Shanshan.
ng Yuran pursed his lips and sat down with his sister without a word.
The eting between the father and son did not have the expected affection. The atmosphere was a bit depressed and also very awkward.
“I don’t know what the two of you like to eat, so we ordered a lot of different dishes.” Zhang Xiying stepped in to elevate the mood. “Take a look to see if there’s anything that you like.”
Both ng Yan and Zhang Xiying were very busy normally, and neither one of them could cook. They normally ordered takeout.
Zhang Xiying even looked for a more well-known restaurant purposefully and ordered a table full of food.
The dishes looked appealing and were still steaming. Obviously, they had just been delivered.
To ng Yuran and ng Shanshan, who were already used to Lin Yiyi’s cooking, it was like going from delicacies to porridges and simple dishes. Naturally, they were not used to it at all.
ng Yuran ignored her and took a bite. He frowned almost imdiately.
That made both ng Yan and Zhang Xiying, who had been observing him the entire ti, nervous.
Did that an… He didn’t like it?
ng Yuran still did not say a word.
ng Shanshan, sitting next to him, suddenly blurted out, “This is not good at all!”
A kid’s world is very simple. It’s either black or white.
Had they not asked, she might not have said it out loud. But now that they have asked, she didn’t care how awkward it’d be. She would answer the question honestly.
Zhang Xiying’s smile froze imdiately. She lowered her head and tried a bite herself.
It really wasn’t that bad, about the sa level as any decent restaurant… She wondered whether the two brats were doing this on purpose!
Surprisingly, ng Yan was much more patient. He even asked the little girl. “What does Shanshan like then? Daddy will get them for you tomorrow, okay?”
ng Shanshan looked at him, studying him. Even the film emperor didn’t know what to do all of a sudden.
Between him and ng Shanshan, there sat the expressionless ng Yuran.
ng Yan felt that his son was a bit on the cold side, and it also looked like he was very hostile toward him. His daughter, on the other hand, was still young and lively. Very different from his son.
Naturally, he favored ng Shanshan a bit more.
This ti, ng Shanshan beca more docile. She looked at her brother carefully before she said, “I like whatever Big Brother likes.”
That was a very appropriate and considerate answer.
ng Yuran, who was still mad at his foolish sister up until a while ago, finally felt a bit pleased.
“No need to bother. We will be going ho tomorrow.”
ng Yuran squeezed his sister’s hand, turned toward ng Yan, and said, “I told Mom that we will be going ho tomorrow.”
ng Yan, who had wanted to keep them over the entire National Holiday week: “……”
He neither agreed nor disagreed. He felt that no matter how or what he said, his son would be very difficult to convince.
The mood over the dinner table was that of a suffocating tension again.
Zhang Xiruo looked over at her older sister and her brother-in-law, then back to the pair of siblings.
Her sister dared not even raised her voice in front of this brother-in-law of hers. She hadn’t expected that this young pair of siblings would talk that way to their elders.
The brother and sister duo ate a little bit of rice and barely touched any other dishes on the table before they excused themselves.
Zhang Xiying could finally let out a breath after the two of them returned to their room.
What was this?
This looked nothing like relationships between father and son or father and daughter.
They might as well be enemies!
