Chapter 238: Treasury of the Damned [2]

I looked at the guy giving me a stare like I owed him money, but I wasn’t intimidated. Instead, I gave him a casual wave paired with my signature smile.

Just a few moments ago, I had been outside the general hall when it started trembling and a massive door appeared.

I knew almost immediately it would lead to the general hall and I had two options.

Either go in with my real appearance or go with my terminally ill form and I chose the latter for one simple reason...

To troll these transmigrator bastards.

I didn’t know if they knew I, as Rael Von Ashborn, was a transmigrator but I was sure they would know once they saw how much chaos I had already caused in Noxvalen.

But that didn’t mean they would know about this appearance of mine, the one where I looked like shattered glass with completely different features.

So I fully intended to let them think I was some completely new transmigrator and it was actually useful as it would distract them from my real form, make them dismiss me as a nobody while they chased after my terminally ill self who seemed more dangerous.

It was like creating an alt account on social media to ragebait and troll people while keeping the main account pure and safe.

As for my weapon cards... Well, although they were rare as weapons, some nutcases did use them.

There were all kinds of Nexus and some people with Performer-type Nexus used cards too, though theirs weren’t nearly as special as mine.

I walked casually toward the guy as the chaotic battle unfolded behind me in the hall.

Honestly, I wasn’t interested in most of the artifacts in this particular hall except for what I came for. The artifacts here were of the demonic kind, the ones that granted power for a short period before eventually killing their host.

The artifact I wanted was demonic as well, the one that would help me make Varek’s life miserable for daring to mess with me.

There were a few other artifacts I wanted too, but unfortunately they weren’t here and I didn’t have the time to retrieve them right now.

It was petty revenge but I didn’t care.

Still, I wasn’t in a rush.

I had already sent Bearlo to collect the artifact I needed along with something else, something which was absolute must for my survival in the future.

In the meantime, I decided to spend some quality time with my dear transmigrators.

As I arrived in front of the group, my eyes scanned them calmly.

There were four of them.

The hooded man who seemed to be the leader, a masked woman who was... strange, Vance, the poor guy I had baited before, and a girl with brown hair and green eyes.

Vance and the green-eyed girl looked badly injured, and I felt pride swell within me. After all, I was niy-nine percent sure those injuries were from my Moon Card.

"You are a difficult person to find." The woman’s voice echoed before I could think of anything else.

"What can I say? I’m a busy guy." I replied smugly.

I could guess what she meant by that.

She probably tried to find me after my explosive greeting but I was with Winter, which made it difficult for her to track me down.

"Who are you...?" The man, probably the Arbiter Vance had talked about, finally spoke. "And why are you wrecking the plot...?"

His voice was heavy.

"I am Orion, didn’t Vance deliver my greeting?" I replied, using the same made-up name I had given Vance before. "As for wrecking the plot, I believe improvising is the correct word."

I saw the man grit his teeth as Vance trembled slightly beside him.

"I mean, why do you even want to follow that shitty plot in the first place? Are you NPCs or what? If you have free will, why bother following some useless script?"

The man stared at me.

"If you continue doing what you are doing, the world will be destroyed." He muttered, clenching his fist. "We need to maintain balance to save the world."

Damn. Talk about a god complex.

"Who’s to say it won’t be destroyed if you don’t do anything? The world isn’t a game anymore, and people aren’t characters. So stop trying to control everything and focus on what you actually want to do."

I muttered it casually, though it was more to buy time than to give him motivation. I mean, I was going to kill this guy sooner or later anyway, so him living his life was never really an option.

I would have done it today but judging by how relaxed he seemed, he probably had a way out.

"It seems you are far too gone to be reasoned with." He muttered as a sword appeared in his hands, while a pair of daggers formed in the hands of the woman beside him.

Tsk...

The woman lunged first while the man remained where he stood, his sword pointed at the ground. Her daggers sliced through the air, coming straight for my neck.

I didn’t move, instead, a slow smirk formed on my lips.

Before the blade could even reach me, something deflected it with a sharp clang as another woman appeared between us. She had flowing white hair, her body clad entirely in black and a ridiculous rubber chicken mask covered her face.

I wasn’t stupid enough to think this meeting would be all flowers and pleasantries and knew these bastards would attack me.

So I prepared a backup.

Before entering this place, I hadn’t just met with Bearlo as someone else had arrived right as I was about to step into this chamber, someone who had asked me for chocolate the moment she appeared.

The woman was none other than Arza and the chicken mask was there to hide her features from the transmigrators. After all, to them, she was something like the main character.

"Take care of the woman." I muttered as she nodded once without hesitation while I looked at the man, who looked at me with furious expression.

Let’s see how strong you are, arbiter.

With that my battle with another transmigrator began.
