Mauve took a deep breath as they walked into the library. The familiar sll of books was the first thing she picked up.

"Whooo," she cried happily, stretching out her arms. "I haven't been here in a very long ti."

"Strange," Louis whispered behind her, shutting the doors of the library closed. The rush of air and the loud sound of the door closing were prominent.

Soone had already taken the ti to light up the candles in the library. She wondered if Jael had given the order knowing she was going to co here after she was done with the garden.

"I guess but I was cooped up in the study for a while and then I fell ill."

She did a little spin, taking in the space as much as she could. She walked the pathway between the shelves, walking closer to the middle.

"Technically, you're still ill," Louis said.

"I beg to differ," she replied and walked to the desk.

Being used to laying in bed all night, she was already tired of being on her feet already.

She dropped on the seat, turning to look at Louis as he walked to where he stood. He took his ti, reaching her side twice the ti it took her.

"At least pretend you're here 'cause you miss the library so much," he replied as he walked and took the opposite seat. "Your stare is killing ."

"At least it is just my stare, you don't want to know how many tis I have thought of squeezing the truth out of you literally."

"Don't say sothing so threatening causally."

"Don't show sothing unusual without any explanation then keep in the dark for this long. I have nearly lost my mind. You're lucky I didn't ntion it to Jael."

"Are you threatening now, young lady?" He adjusted in his seat and stared her down.

For a few seconds, Mauve's throat dried and she couldn't find the words.

"Of course not," she managed to say. You know that is not the case."

"You actually think I would do sothing to harm you."

"When you look at like that," she glared at him, annoyed that she had actually been scared. "It is hard to know if it's a joke."

He threw his head back and laughed.

Mauve glared at him. "Has anyone told you, you might be crazy?" She asked.

"It wouldn't be the first ti."

"Good to reply. It would be shocking if I am the only one who knows you have got a few screws loose. That aside, could you explain what that was?"

"I told you," he said and held her gaze. "Magic."

"That doesn't make any sense," she replied.

"I supposed it doesn't. You all on this side are not very familiar with it. I guess everywhere," he brought his hand to his chin and shook his head. "Never mind."

"Don't just say that," she replied angrily. "Explain yourself."

"There is nothing to explain," he replied and she could tell he was already getting withdrawn.

"Well, what is magic?" She asked.

He gave her an unimpressed look. "Surely, you aren't asking that?" He asked in horror.

"Well, I don't know how else to ask you. You don't explain anything."

"Well, one thing. I am pretty surprised you have an affinity for it. Maybe, it is because of your Royal blood. I have given so thought to it. Or your mother? I am not still very sure."

"I hate when you speak like that."

He laughed, "What would you like to know then? Since I am in such a good mood I will break it down for you."

She shot him a withering look. "What do you an I have an affinity to magic?" She asked.

"Exactly what you think it is—" he paused for a second and looked lost in thought. "Or is it the type of magic?" He mumbled.

"I can't hear you," she said, slowly starting to lose her patience.

"Basically, you can use magic," he replied. "Not a lot of humans can do that. Vampires for example can't use magic at all."

Mauve frowned, "Are you saying vampires have tried or just you?" She asked.

He shrugged, "Take it however you want."

"You are annoying, you know," she responded.

"I do my best to make an impression."

"Why are you sure I can use magic though?" She asked, not liking that Louis wasn't divulging more.

"You got the spell in one go, I've never seen that before."

"I did?" She frowned.

"Oh, yes. Mill might have interrupted but the paper did start to burn."

"Could we try it again?" She asked, her face lighting up.

"That was fast," he said and leaned backward. "I would have assud you wanted to ask more questions instead of jumping right into it."

"You are not answering my questions."

"I assure you I am."

"How long have you known about magic?" She asked.

Louis rely shrugged, "Long enough."

"See what I an! You evade my questions, you only tell what you feel like telling ."

"That's not true. I told you Vampires can't use magic."

"But you didn't tell how you know this."

"It's common knowledge. There is no when it's just sothing I have always known and when I did try it, I was right. I couldn't. I've read every magic book I can find. Chanted every freaking spell, it's like reading from a book, it doesn't do a thing."

"But humans can use magic?" She asked.

He nodded, "A number of them."

"How isn't this common knowledge?"

"Well, it is a knowledge that is dying out even amongst vampires."

"No, not that. I have never heard of magic before. Humans don't use magic. You only hear that in fairytales."

Louis smirked, "I guess logic is finally poking its head. You were super excited to use it a second ago."

"That's different!" Anyone would be curious about magic."

"Enough to try it, I beg to differ." He looked a bit lost for a second.

Mauve didn't like the fact that she thought he was ssing with her.
