The young vampire glared at her. "The window."
"What?" Vae asked, feigning ignorance.
"Close the curtains."
"Oh my, the sunlight. How could I have forgotten?" She said with a sheepish grin but by the look on the vampire's face, he was not buying her horrible act.
She walked into the room with the tray in hand and carefully placed it on the table beside the bed. She took her ti as she walked to the window. As soon as the curtains were closed, the young vampire burst into the room, took the tub, and sped out.
"Tch!" Vae said and walked towards the open door. She closed it with a slight bang.
"Did sothing happen between you and the vampire?" Mauve asked.
"What? Why?"
"Well, there was a lot of hostility between you two."
"Nothing like that. What would you like to wear?"
Mauve's stomach chose that mont to growl like a thunderstorm.
"Princess," Vae called out in alarm.
"I am starving. I could eat a mountain." She said with tears in the corner of her eyes.
Vae chuckled, "Okay, I will find sothing simple. We can worry about it after you are done eating."
"Okay."
She sat on the edge of the dress as Vae helped her into her underwear. She took them off Vae's hands and wore them herself.
Vae folded her hands as she watched Mauve get dressed. "So, princess…" She dragged.
"What is it?"
"You are really not going to tell what happened?"
Mauve hands froze as she slipped into the underwear. She pulled it up and shook her head as her cheeks reddened. "I am hungry, Vae." She sat on the bed. "Bring the table closer," she ordered.
"Yes, princess," Vae said with a scoff to her words. Vae sat in the corner and stared.
Mauve dropped her cutlery with a soft sound. "Would you stop staring at like that?"
"Would you like to turn around and face the wall?" Vae asked with a smirk.
"Yes and close your eyes too." Mauve glared at her.
Still, with a smirking face, Vae slowly turned around.
"I was only teasing."
"I know princess but since you don't want to tell , I will let it go."
"Well, it's not like I don't want to tell you." She picked up her spoon and fiddled with it. "It is just embarrassing."
Vae stood to her feet. "Embarrassing? He is your husband. You shouldn't be embarrassed."
"Only in na and we both know the King married off to get rid of . This way he would never have to see again." Mauve frowned as she ate her food. This had nothing to do with her father. There was no need to bring it up.
"Eat up, princess. You already lost a lot of weight during the trip."
She smiled and dug into her al. She finished up the food in no ti and Vae helped her get dressed. She chose sothing comfortable and convinced Vae to dress her up without the corset.
"What are you going to do today? Staying in this room all by yourself would definitely drive you crazy and since you just woke up, I doubt you will be able to sleep anyti soon." Vae said with a yawn at the end of her sentence.
"I don't know, maybe read a book." Mauve said. "Are you sleepy?"
Vae yawned again. "I have been up for a while." As she spoke, she looked around. "I don't see any book."
"He showed the library yesterday."
Vae jerked her head so hard that Mauve was certain she broke her neck. "The Vampire King?"
"Yes, he gave a tour."
"Hmm, I am not going to ask for details. That's good, you have sothing to do."
"Don't worry about , make sure you get enough rest. I don't think you have completely healed from the incident."
"I am fine, princess and I get enough rest. Aside from taking care of you, I do nothing else here. The vampires don't want my help." She arched her head to the side as she spoke. She chuckled, "Don't look so down princess, I like less work."
Mauve nodded and continued eating. She didn't have anything to say but it was hard to believe Vae's words as the maid looked a little sad as she spoke.
"Do you have a family back ho, Vae?" She asked.
Vae nodded. "My mother used to work in the castle but she is too old now so I work in her stead. You should know her. My older sister is married with two kids. My nieces are so pretty."
Mauve looked at her with a big smile. "Are you married?"
"Not yet but I am engaged. Well, not officially." She said with a sheepish smile. "He can't afford a ring yet, so we are waiting for him to make enough money to buy one and then we can make the announcent. We will get married soon after, he wants seven children. Can you imagine?"
Mauve eyes widened. "Isn't that too many?"
"That's what I said." She chuckled and her smile faded a little. "Forgive my rambling, princess."
"No, I was the one who asked. I am glad you told ."
She picked up the tray, "If you need anything. Don't hesitate to call ."
"I won't. Goodnight."
"It's almost noon."
"You know what I an."
Vae chuckled, "Goodnight princess." The door closed behind her.
As soon as the door closed. Mauve threw herself into the bed with a loud sigh. She shouldn't have asked about Vae's family. The fact that Vae had people waiting for her back ho gnawed at Mauve.
She had nothing, if she never returned, nobody would miss her. She didn't miss anybody either but not Vae. She shouldn't have co with her. She had been happy that she didn't have to face this alone but now she wasn't so sure.
Mauve laid in bed for a while before she threw herself off it. She wore her shoes and walked out of the room. Reading was sure to take her mind off everything else. She walked up the stairs with purpose and soon got to the front of the library.
She walked forward but sohow her attention was drawn to the room next door. Mauve didn't know what ca over her but one second she was in front of the library and the next second she was turning the handle of the room next door.
Mauve didn't know which shocked her more, the fact that she was turning the handle or the fact that the door wasn't locked.
What if soone was in here?
It was too late now, whoever was in here would know of her presence. She walked into the room and quickly closed the door behind her. The room was pitch dark.
"Is anyone here?" She whispered.
Silence but she already knew the room was empty. The sll of the room was sweet, she could tell it was a woman's room. It slled like she was still in there not in an overwhelming way but in a way that said this wasn't just a guest's room.
The room was quite dark but there was a curtain and a little light was sleeping from the side. She walked forward and hit her leg. She swallowed the scream that almost escaped her lips. She couldn't be caught.
She trod slowly, going over things if there was a need to. Finally, she got to the curtain and threw it open. She didn't know what she was expecting but what she was seeing wasn't it.
The room was the exact replica of hers except it was smaller. The wardrobe and dresser were even placed in similar positions. She walked to the wardrobe and threw it open.
It was filled with clothes, dresses, and pants. Mauve frowned, she did not hear anything about a sister and the only other female she had seen in the castle was a maid.
She walked to the dresser and opened the wardrobe. She gasped at the jewelry that stared back at her. Huge stones with different colors, nothing like she had ever seen.
She stretched her hand to touch but stopped herself. She wondered why they were out here in the open, so easy to find. Weren't they worried about thieves?
Mauve quickly closed the drawer. She rushed to the window and closed the curtains. She swore as she tried to make her way out of the room. She should have at least tried to look at the path properly but aside from being caught, she knew she was doing sothing awful. She had to leave.
She took the step one at a ti but it didn't stop her from hitting her shin as she had before, at least it wasn't as painful as the first ti. She got out of the room and rushed towards the library.
It wasn't until she got inside that she was able to breathe properly. She was very curious but she knew there was no way she could ask anybody about it, let alone Jael.
