Chapter 470: Chapter 470 Attitude Change Chapter 470: Chapter 470 Attitude Change Zhong Family——

Old Sir Zhong and Old Madam Zhong looked at Lu Yichen and Zhong Niangyao seated before them, both doubting their own ears, wondering if they had misheard.

Even Zhong Minghao and Zheng Silin from the main house were bemused, though a faint excitent could just about be glimpsed in their eyes.

It was only Zhong Jinghao sitting off to the side who remained calm from start to finish, his face even wearing an expression as if he had anticipated this all along.

“Are you saying,” Old Sir Zhong deliberated before speaking, “that this eting was intended by your father to set the date for both of your matters as well?”

Early this morning, Lu Yichen had co over in person, and while it was initially thought to be for so matter, unexpectedly, it was about setting a eting between the two families.

To this, Old Sir Zhong and Old Madam Zhong were not surprised. After all, this matter had been discussed before.

However, the Zhong Family had subsequently been through so much turmoil that it could easily be described as utter chaos. Consequently, the affair had been postponed. They hadn’t dared to ask further, as they were the girl’s side—it wouldn’t do to seem too eager, lest they appear to depreciate themselves.

Therefore, when Lu Yichen brought up the matter today, they were sowhat pleased.

Yet, what Lu Yichen said next completely blindsided them; he directly proposed to set the engagent date for him and Zhong Niangyao right then and there.

One must know, this was still the first eting between the two families. Wasn’t it a bit too hasty to decide on the marriage so quickly?

Detecting the hesitation in Old Sir Zhong’s words, Lu Yichen imdiately spoke up, “Niangyao and I have known each other for a good while now, and have been in a relationship for so ti. Moreover, my father is very pleased with Niangyao. Thus, he too hopes that we can finalize it this morning.”

“But isn’t this a bit too precipitate?” Old Sir Zhong frowned, unable to help but voice his concern, “It’s our first ti eting both families, and we’re already talking marriage—that seems hasty, doesn’t it?”

Up to this point, he was quite satisfied with Lu Yichen as his prospective grandson-in-law.

Unlike Zhong ngxuan’s choice, Lu Chenran, Lu Yichen seed much more responsible. Not only had he visited them multiple tis, but he had also made his relationship with Zhong Niangyao public and brought her directly to the Lu Family. Old Master Lu also favored Niangyao and there was unlikely to be any conflict with her entering the Lu Family.

As for Old Madam Lu’s thoughts, he didn’t really take them into consideration; firstly, because he was unclear about her stance, and secondly, in the Lu Family, Old Master Lu was the decision-maker. As long as Old Master Lu was satisfied, Old Mrs. Lai, no matter how many thoughts she had, would have to swallow them all.

But satisfaction aside, the relationship was still new, and now they were talking about getting engaged—wasn’t it too rushed? After the engagent, could the wedding be far behind?

His granddaughter was still very young, and he intended to keep the potential groom waiting a few more years.

“Not at all,” Lu Yichen imdiately responded, “Niangyao and I are mutually affectionate, and now that neither family has any objections, an engagent is just a natural progression.”

“Yes, Dad,” Zhong Minghao hurriedly chid in to support the statent, “It’s appropriate for Niangyao to be engaged at her current age. Since the Lu Family is showing such sincerity, we shouldn’t refuse them!”

It wasn’t simply a matter of getting engaged—he wished Niangyao would marry Lu Yichen right away.

Though Zhong Niangyao was only his niece, she was a mber of the Zhong Family. Once the news of her engagent to Lu Yichen spread, the Zhong Family would beco the undoubted in-laws of the Lu Family. Aligning with the Lu Family would be extrely beneficial to the Zhong Group.

“Yes!” Zheng Silin, who knew her husband best, also spoke up right away, “Dad, since Third Young Master Lu and Niangyao are mutually affectionate, whether they get engaged or married is just a matter of ti. Now it’s just a question of setting it earlier rather than later. It’s not like they have to marry right away, what is there to be conflicted about?”

“What’s it got to do with you?”

Old Sir Zhong glared at Zhong Minghao and Zheng Silin, “Why must you interfere in everything? I will make my own decision on this matter, I don’t need your input here.”

Sudden reproaches silenced both Zhong Minghao and Zheng Silin, who touched their noses, accepting the scolding without daring to randomly express their opinions further.

Yet, in their hearts, they still hoped that Old Sir would agree sooner rather than later.

“Yichen,” Old Sir Zhong’s eyes twinkled as he spoke up, “eting between the two families is not an issue. But, as for the engagent, I still feel it’s rather early. Yaoyao is still studying! Let’s discuss the engagent after she graduates from university, shall we?”

Old Madam Zhong, seated nearby, said nothing in response but she seed to agree with Old Sir Zhong’s stance.

Zhong Niangyao, listening in, expressed no opinion, nor did she show which side she supported.

Lu Yichen, though rebuffed, was not angry; he continued, “Old Sir, there is sothing I would like to discuss with you alone, if I may?”

Such an abrupt request took everyone present by surprise.

Old Sir Zhong was puzzled, but he didn’t refuse. However, he had already decided, no matter what, he would not agree to an engagent this early.

Zhong Niangyao blinked her large eyes, also feeling puzzled. She couldn’t figure out what Lu Yichen was intending and was curious about how he planned to persuade her grandfather to agree to the engagent.

Old Sir Zhong and Lu Yichen retired to the study.

In less than fifteen minutes, both returned.

Old Sir Zhong’s eyes were slightly red, his expression agitated yet sowhat held in check.

To everyone’s surprise, after erging from the study, Old Sir Zhong changed his earlier resolute attitude and finally consented to the engagent between Lu Yichen and Zhong Niangyao.

Upon hearing Old Sir Zhong’s stance, everyone was astounded.

Even Old Madam Zhong, sitting beside her husband, couldn’t help but look at him with shocked eyes. Clearly, she too had not expected Old Sir Zhong to change his mind so drastically in such a short ti.

Everyone was left wondering what exactly Lu Yichen had said to Old Sir Zhong to cause such a swift turnaround.

Zhong Niangyao looked toward Lu Yichen beside her, her eyes filled with curiosity, seemingly awaiting his explanation.
