Chapter 338: Chapter 338: Reporting to the Heavenly Dao Chapter 338: Chapter 338: Reporting to the Heavenly Dao After lunch at noon, Zhong Niangyao took a taxi to the Zhu Family’s estate.

The three-day agreent had co due, and her visit today was to help the Five Ghosts reincarnate.

Lu Yichen had originally planned to co with her, but sothing seed to have co up with Master Zixiao, so Lu Yichen had to go back and check on it. Thus, she ca by herself this ti.

Hardly had she pressed the doorbell when the front gate was promptly opened by the sa Housekeeper Wang as before. However, unlike his forr arrogance, his face now looked haggard, and he seed much older.

At the sight of Zhong Niangyao, it was as if he saw a savior, his whole being radiating hope, “Lady Zhong, you’ve finally arrived.”

During these three days, he had been eating and sleeping poorly—even his work was done with trepidation. He was just a regular person; how could he not be frightened living under the sa roof as a ghost, let alone five of them?

He saw himself as no saint and naturally wanted to leave. But for so reason, whenever he harbored such thoughts, the Five Ghosts would appear before him and occasionally glare at him with nacing eyes.

Afterward, he dare not act rashly and could only eagerly await the end of the three days, longing for this matter to be resolved.

Now with Zhong Niangyao’s arrival, wasn’t it just like seeing a lifesaver?

Seeing Housekeeper Wang’s state, Zhong Niangyao raised an eyebrow, a flicker of interest in her eyes.

She could tell that in these few short days, the Zhu Family mbers must have had a hard ti. As for this Housekeeper Wang, it seed he had not refrained from helping the Zhu Family in their misdeeds; otherwise, he would not still be with the Zhu Family now.

Upon entering the living room, she saw that all the Zhu Family mbers had already gathered there. Exhaustion was written on each of their faces, and everyone looked as if they had aged a decade in just three days.

Especially Zhu Yu, the head of the family, whose face showed all signs of impending doom, even a hint of the pallor of death. It seed his life was not going to last much longer.

The Zhu Family’s excitent at Zhong Niangyao’s arrival was evident. However, this was followed by complex expressions.

Although Zhong Niangyao’s arrival ant the end of their days of anxiety, they also rembered how she forced them to donate all of the family’s fortune. Now that they were penniless, they dared not contemplate how they would live in the future.

Supporting himself with a cane, Zhu Yu stood up and approached Zhong Niangyao, “Lady Zhong, the entire fortune of the Zhu Family has been donated. Now please help us send off the Five Ghosts.”

Zhong Niangyao looked intensely at Zhu Yu and then spoke, “Are you sure, truly sure, that you’ve donated all of your family’s fortune?”

Facing Zhong Niangyao’s skepticism, Zhu Yu felt his heart skip, but he managed to maintain a calm deanor, “If Lady Zhong does not trust us, feel free to check. All of the wealth of the Zhu Family has been fully donated.”

Indeed, he had secretly kept so assets. He resented the idea of all his years of accumulation vanishing into nothing. He could feel his life nearing its end, but he still had offspring. Even if not for himself, he had to consider his descendants.

He had left a bit of wealth in the shadows, a safeguard for the future and capital for his descendants to make a coback.

Strictly speaking, this wealth did not belong to the Zhu Family, but to him personally and had no relationship with the Zhu Family.

Therefore, he was not lying.

“Is that so?” Zhong Niangyao gazed steadily at Zhu Yu without saying another word.

Under the scrutiny of those discerning eyes, Zhu Yu’s back grew cold, and he began to sweat profusely, feeling an overwhelming urge to confess everything.

Just as Zhu Yu was about to break down, Zhong Niangyao finally averted her gaze and spoke slowly, “If that’s the case, then let’s begin! But—”

“I hope you won’t regret your decision.”

The last sentence was spoken softly, as though it would dissipate into the air.

Even standing in front of her, Zhu Yu could not quite make out what Zhong Niangyao had said last, but he had a feeling it was important.

Nonetheless, seeing Zhong Niangyao’s deanor, he didn’t dare to ask.

Zhong Niangyao no longer paid heed to Zhu Yu but summoned the Five Ghosts.

Soon, the Five Ghosts appeared before Zhong Niangyao.

The arrival of the Five Ghosts seed to drop the room’s temperature several degrees, as if winter had arrived suddenly.

The Zhu Family mbers shuddered at the sight of the Five Ghosts, a testant to how harrowing the past few days had been for them.

After glancing at the Five Ghosts, Zhong Niangyao turned to Zhu Yu and spoke, “Today I will settle all the accounts between you.”

Having said that, Zhong Niangyao reached into her bag and withdrew a piece of talisman paper, “This is a petition charm, I will first return all the misdeeds Zhu Family has done over the years back to the Zhu Family on your behalf.”

The ghosts, though incorporeal, showed visible excitent, for today they were going to enter the cycle of Reincarnation and beco humans once more.

Zhong Niangyao burnt the petition charm in her hand, then started to chant, “Today this devout woman speaks for the Five Ghosts; let the Heavenly Dao accept this plea…”

As Zhong Niangyao’s words flowed forth, streams of dark energy seed to rise from the Five Ghosts and then vanish.

When Zhong Niangyao’s final word was spoken, the Five Ghosts felt as if an imnse burden had been lifted from them, a sense of incredible relief.

In contrast, the Zhu Family mbers weren’t clear on the effects of Zhong Niangyao’s actions, but those who had done many wrongs now felt an added weight on their shoulders and a sudden sense of heaviness. Yet, they couldn’t explain exactly what it was they were feeling.

The Five Ghosts bowed deeply to Zhong Niangyao, and the Wealth Ghost stepped forward, his face full of sincere gratitude, “Lady Zhong, we thank you deeply for all you have done for us today.”

Freed from the Zhu Family’s sins, they felt an unprecedented lightness and an increased anticipation for their upcoming Reincarnation.
