The party soon ended, but it didn’t pass Raine’s attention that one of the people she invited didn’t co. She looked at Nathan and telepathically inford, [I will go out with Father and visit Janus’s residence.]

[I’ll go with you,] Nathan quickly replied.

Raine shook her head. [It’s best that you don’t, darling,] she sincerely stated. [Stay here and continue your conversations with your n. I won’t take long.]

Having said her piece, Raine then walked towards the table where her father was. She smiled at him, to which the latter simply nodded. In hindsight, it was no wonder that she and Randall had this sort of connection even if he wasn’t talking to her.

"Would you like to go with ?" Raine asked.

He nodded, promptly standing up as Raine comfortably hooked her arm around his like she used to. Unlike before, he was now talking, although Raine have heard that he would only talk whenever he asked about sothing.

"I’m sure you’re already aware of your real identity. You’re no longer Randall, but Lark, and I’m your real daughter," she explained. "You had a twin with Mother: and Mara. I’ll introduce you to her soon..." She sighed, "I’m sorry if I took too long to approach you like this. It’s just that there were too many things to process. And to be honest, I’m still... Hmm.."

Raine was unable to continue, wondering if her father was even able to understand her.

Turning to him, she hoped to be proven wrong. Unfortunately, like he used to... there was still no expression on his face whatsoever.

"I will protect you, Princess..."

Her eyes widened upon hearing his voice. She didn’t know how to respond beyond doing a re shrug with her shoulders.

"You always do," she sighed. She then halted in her steps, turning to face him as she asked, "Can you please call daughter from now on?"

"Daughter," Lark plainly answered, devoid of any emotion whatsoever.

Raine couldn’t help but feel pity for her father. There was sothing gripping inside her chest, and before she knew it, the tears in her eyes were already starting to well up.

She had purposely left the Moon Clan Territory not to simply follow Nathan or exact her revenge against Shasha who was responsible for her Father Marcus’s death, but also because she was still struggling with the loss of her adoptive father alongside gaining back her biological father, Lark. She simply didn’t know how to see through things with the various emotions swirling inside of her, not to ntion her also having an older sister... Mara.

Wiping the tears off her face, she curved her lips into a beautiful smile towards her father. "Co and accompany . From now on, you go wherever I go, Father. We’ll be inseparable from now on. What do you say?"

Lark only nodded at her. He was like a human robot, and it was just tragic to see him like this.

Raine quickly pulled him with her to walk towards the car. She wanted to check on Janus in his facility, where she was sure the latter would be sulking. She would help her father get back to normal, and she was sure there could be sothing out there that would be able to break his curse.

Getting inside the car with Lark, Raine told her driver to bring them to Janus’s location inside their command base. On their way to their destination, Raine took her ti talking to her father. He wouldn’t speak to her at all unless she asked him or ordered him to do sothing, but she at least hoped that talking to him would help his recovery process.

Surprisingly, according to the recent report about her father, he never listened to or followed any instructions from others except her aunt Ester, Davin, and Nathan. And now, that included her she guessed, seeing as her father simply nodded to whatever she said and asked him to.

"Tell , Father, whose orders or requests are you willing to follow?"

"Ester, Nathan, Davin, and Daughter," Lark answered.

"Only from those you ntioned?" she confird.

"Yes."

"But why? Raine further asked with a frown. "I an, I’ll understand if it’s since you’ve been protecting since I was a child, but why would you also listen to Aunt Ester, Nathan, and Davin?"

There was a brief silence, and Raine couldn’t help but let out a heavy sigh.

"I will protect Daughter, but not the others..." he said without any emotion whatsoever.

Hearing him respond, she wondered if it was all just a job for him, or if deep inside, he could still recognize her sohow.

Raine held his hand and gently squeezed it. With a faint smile, she murmured, "I’ll find a way to end your suffering, Father. I’ll find a way to break that curse on you no matter what."

*******

They soon arrived at the facility Janus was handling inside Moon Clan Territory. It was like Janus’s ho, seeing as the latter preferred to stay inside it instead of going to his actual house. She also had soone who was closely looking into Janus’s movents, so she was aware of how he did nothing but cast himself away from everyone else.

Going inside the facility, she walked directly to Janus’s favorite laboratory. Her father followed behind her, and she didn’t bother stopping him, knowing that it would only be futile.

"Princess..." Janus weakly murmured as soon as she entered the room. He was there, sitting with a bottle of whiskey in front of him on the table.

"Till when do you plan on sulking here, Janus?" she scolded. "We didn’t give you a second chance just to waste yourself like this."

Not getting a response, she walked towards him and sat on the chair opposite him.

"I’m sorry..." Janus murmured with his head down.

"It’s not the end of the world for you, you know. And you’re still young enough to et plenty of won out there," Raine assuaged him. "You’re the best doctor in our clan, and I have a lot of projects in my head that I’ll need your help with for the betternt of the clan. You... you helped my father create monsters, and if you’re truly sorry, then how about you help in creating things to destroy monsters in this world?"

...

.....

Raine frowned, "Look at ..."

Janus raised his head. He had grown a beard and mustache, and the latter looked like her father when he was still Randall with all the hair on his face. She had waited long enough for him to have his own privacy and mont after his failed attempt of being a villain together with her Father Marcus, and now was the ti for her to pull him out of this spiral.

"We grew up together, Janus... This isn’t you, so please try and redeem yourself to our people..." she soothed him. "I’ll help you as long as you’re willing to cooperate with . We can create sothing to make sure that peace and order will be maintained for humanity against monsters who want to destroy the world..."

There was a silence, and Raine waited for Janus to recollect himself. She could tell that he was no longer a threat. He was simply blinded by his selfish greed fueled by her Father Marcus. The man deserved a second chance... Everybody did, especially those who genuinely wanted redemption.

"I’ll stay here in the anti since Nathan thought I would be safe in here, especially now that I’m pregnant," she snorted. "I do hope that tomorrow when I co back, you’re back to your normal self already. And please... shave that fuzz off your face."
