Chapter 316: Evil Acts

That next day, Raine had dinner with his n while discussing the mission and how they would proceed further.

"He’s really good," she comnted, seeing as her n were having a hard ti planning how to catch their target. Right now, their only lead was that Balon was in Country A and that his next prey would be Cali. That monster was really hard to track, and they could only wait for his cue wherein he would send a black rose to his prey as his calling card.

"We’re still not sure if this Edward is truly Balon, but I’ll stay close to Cali for now," Raine concluded. Above all else, she had to make sure that Cali would be safe while also not making everyone suspicious of her actions. They still had to keep the existence of the underworld creatures unknown to humans, which ant not acting like they were on the hunt for mythical creatures.

Although things would be a lot easier if she could simply get her hands on Edward right then and there. She wouldn’t dare risk it since she still had Aire growing inside her body. If this Edward was truly that notorious werewolf Balon, who was also well-versed in spells, then he’d no doubt have great strength that would require her to fight with her all. Her n alone wouldn’t be enough to handle him.

"Can’t we just kidnap this Edward, Boss?" Dan suggested. "Randall- I an, your father Lark has the strength equivalent to many n, so I’m sure we’ll be able to contain him while you use your eyes to confirm if he’s truly Balon."

"No, we can’t. There’s still no mory loss powder available at this point, so we need to be careful," Raine vetoed with a sigh. "And If this Edward turns out to be human, then we’ll have to deal with the consequences of that, along with any other humans that might witness the event. Things aren’t as easy as before. Our movents are restricted with our lacking capabilities with erasing mories like before. Janus is still idling..."

After her father Marcus died, the production of the mory loss powder had stopped in its entirety. Well, it technically hadn’t, but Janus had been idling for so ti now, and she didn’t want to force the latter to start working on it again this soon. After all, he still had the free will to decide what he wanted to do so long as he wouldn’t do anything harmful to others.

Still, she had to applaud Janus for keeping his knowledge all to himself. She understood why he did that, of course, and it was so that he can keep himself as a key person in the organization. He was irreplaceable, and he wouldn’t easily give away or teach important formulae to others working with him without keeping that in mind. He was a hands-on scientist, one who lived his life inside the laboratory as much as he could.

Raine could only hope that Janus made the right choice in the end. Till then, they had no choice but to make sure that they wouldn’t jeopardize the mission by letting humans discover the existence of these dangerous mutants.

She hadn’t been idle, of course. Raine had discussed the possibility of using other thods that her n could use like sedatives, analyzing the pros and cons of such a thod before finalizing their plan of attack. And just as she was about to speak, she was interrupted by a sudden call on her phone.

Excusing herself from her squad, she answered the call with a smirk, knowing full well who was the one who just called her.

It was Rui. The man was asking for the two of them to et sowhere.

"Alright, et

at this cafe," Raine said to Rui before ending the call. She then looked at Dan and said, "Let’s continue this tomorrow. I need to go out."

Dismissing her n, Raine then put on her coat before walking out of the door. But before she could open it, her father suddenly appeared out of nowhere and opened it for her. "I’ll go with you."

She simply shook her head as he grabbed the car keys in her hand, content with letting him do what he wanted as she followed. Shortly after, they arrived at the cafe, and Raine promptly went inside. Ordering so ice cream while she waited, she smiled when her father entered the cafe and ordered so coffee for himself before sitting by a table not far from her.

"My Dad is such a stalker..." Raine murmured with a chuckle as she started eating the ice cream the waiter just served for her. Soon, Rui ca, and Raine waved at him to co to her table.

"Hmm, I guess you need sothing from

for you to not wait until tomorrow," Raine playfully surmised as she sucked on her ice cream-covered spoon. "Why ask to et

now?"

"Ice cream at this hour?!" Rui looked at her in surprise. He then sighed and asked the waiter for a coffee before he followed with, "Really?"

"Yeah, eating sweets is life for ," Raine shrugged. "Now, let’s get down to business before your dear wife wakes up and looks for you in the middle of the night."

Rui raised his eyebrows upon seeing how careless she was behaving, but he promptly shut up and explained everything to her anyway. Apparently, he needed her help by having her pretend to be soone who had this dying crush on him, to be his obsessed stalker so that Rui could jog his wife’s mory. Apparently, he’ll get his amnesiac wife to pretend to be his girlfriend and protect him from her stalking.

After his narration, there was only silence for a long ti as Raine casually ate her cup of ice cream. After she was done, her attention finally turned to him.

"Ahh, that’s good and refreshing..." she comnted, licking her lips.

Rui shook his head and complained, "Were you even listening to , Candice?"

Picking up her spoon, she playfully licked at it in front of him while she humd, "What do I get in return if I help you, Mr. ddler? How about pleasing

a little?" She smirked, as she winked at him. "Let’s settle on... a one-night stand?"

Seeing Rui’s face redden with annoyance and embarrassnt, she broke out into a playful smile. She then added, "I’ve always wondered if n deeply in love with a woman can truly keep their loyalty towards one woman."

Ah, how she had missed these evil acts of hers...
