Vol 2 Chapter 15: Hatred

The conflict between humans and demons could not withstand unparalleled courage and strength.

But for blood feuds that truly could not be resolved, there was no solution other than killing.

Those truly filled with hatred, whose lives contained nothing but resentnt, would not be frightened by death, nor would they be influenced by other interests.

They cared not for promises, not for other demons, and even less for themselves.

No one could shoulder their hatred or stop their revenge by ans other than death—not even they themselves could.

But such demons were not nurous.

A total of 784 demon race mbers inexplicably received ssages before the cleanup began, then firmly launched their revenge against humans.

They killed 1,151 people in total, severely damaging several families skilled at utilizing demon materials, with a small number of commoners also caught in the slaughter.

According to investigations, their source of information was leaders hearing voices from unknown origins.

Among them, 15 demon race mbers underwent mutations seemingly based on their thoughts, transforming into abnormal beasts. One demon race mber mastered "innate supernatural abilities," or rather "localized psychic power," in a bizarre manner.

Psychic power... Mo Wen looked at the report, falling into deep thought.

Nearby, Long Yunshui, who had co to help, attempted to comfort Mo Wen: "Brother Mo Wen, you seem to be in poor spirits. Is it because people died? Relax—the number of deaths today probably doesn't even exceed how many humans die from aging every hour."

"I never imagined you could be this fast, your perception this sharp. If not for you, certainly many more would have died."

Mo Wen knew he had indeed saved many people. Crossing the vast Chenyao Dynasty in less than two hours to suppress all revenge-seeking demon race—this was sothing even divine beasts couldn't accomplish, a miracle only possible for him after activating psychic power at quadruple speed.

And single-handedly subduing the demon race, making them willingly submit, ending the human-demon war before it even began—this too was sothing only he could achieve.

A great war between two races contending for mastery of heaven and earth would likely claim over a billion casualties.

Even by Chenyao Dynasty's standards, rely accomplishing this already qualified him as a wise ruler.

Indeed, he had handled the demon race's revenge quite well.

Before this, no one knew or would believe that demon race mbers across various regions could inexplicably learn about impossible-to-avenge ssages and imdiately begin slaughtering. His planning itself was normal and reasonable.

Even after he resolved the problem, the Demon Emperor only then learned these demon race mbers had gone out of control. After various Dao Institutes compiled their reports, the ministers finally learned what an astonishing yet effortless hunt the Divine Martial Emperor had accomplished in his spare ti.

But this was not his limit.

If he could establish a psychic environnt similar to the Warp within this Small World, even if maintaining Energy Level 5 state for just one second, he could achieve zero deaths and even capture all revenge-seeking demon race alive.

And the most primitive formation thod of the Warp required only massive deaths of psychics. If he...

Mo Wen's thoughts suddenly halted. He looked toward Long Yunshui, seeking help: "Tell , if a voice suddenly appears in my mind, wanting to use logic similar to mine but slightly different, compelling to perform large-scale massacres to save more people—what situation would that be?"

Long Yunshui blinked her eyes, irresponsibly guessing: "Your killing intent has erged, but you don't want to admit how terribly evil you are?"

Is... is that it?

Mo Wen searched his heart and asked himself—he probably, perhaps, maybe had slight obsessive tendencies, but his ntal illness had long since self-healed.

"Any other possibilities?"

Long Yunshui realized Mo Wen might not be imagining things but actually having a real problem. She seriously speculated: "Are you experiencing demonic possession?"

"Demonic possession isn't scary. Demonic influences are more like imagery—just ntal disturbance prone to evil thoughts. For soone with firm willpower like you, it's nothing fearso. Besides, after Variegated-Feather took up the worship position, she gained ability over the five virtues. One peck from her could instantly destroy demonic influences."

Before the human path sensed Mo Wen and triggered heaven and earth anomalies, demonic influences might truly have been unable to make waves. But now... Mo Wen wasn't so sure. However, he felt that wasn't demonic possession—his inner demons shouldn't be this weak.

"I still rember you telling about Foreign Heavenly Demons. Can heavenly demons infiltrate human hearts?"

Long Yunshui wasn't quite certain: "Would they? Generally speaking, Foreign Heavenly Demons should have physical forms. But those demon race mbers inexplicably hearing whispers in their ears, even transforming living demons—maybe it really is related to heavenly demons."

"After all, the Foreign Heavenly Demon frawork is quite arbitrary. When we established the definition, we stuffed all bad things not from this world into it."

"But even if it's an external product, as long as the basic principles are similar, it should still fall within Variegated-Feather's handling range."

Mo Wen decided to refine the terminology: "So for now, let's temporarily limit the term 'heavenly demon' to that voice which caused these demons' 'demonic transformation.'"

"Please invite Phoenix out of seclusion. I'll have others organize and handle abnormalities caused by 'heavenly demons' and temporary response plans."

Long Yunshui didn't move. She sowhat awkwardly said: "My relationship with Huang Wushang is rather special. How to explain... We're both long-lived species with similar power levels, so naturally our relationship beca good. But regarding certain matters, we still have minor conflicts."

Mo Wen wasn't surprised: "So, what did you do?"

Long Yunshui scratched her head: "Her wife... husband... Anyway, when that married man she enjoyed died, I suggested she focus attention on the children. When the children died, I suggested she invest in the next children and not be overly concerned about short-lived species' deaths."

"Then my wording was slightly too crude, without consideration for her feelings."

"It's not that Variegated-Feather and I have hatred between us—it's just that I shouldn't go see her alone, and also I can't defeat her."

The key point is you can't defeat her, right? Mo Wen truly struggled to imagine what mysterious statents Long Yunshui had uttered. But regardless, he still needed to et Phoenix—whether for that certain Phoenix descendant serving as Demon Emperor, or to prevent those abnormalities suspected to be related to demonic influences.

But before that, he needed to visit the imperial mausoleum.

The mory Worm inspection should have results by now. The demon beast corpses sent to the imperial mausoleum might yield different conclusions from the Ministry of Works. He could also take the opportunity to see the divine chanism and share so of Qi Shiming's technology.

Without the Warp, but if he could create sothing similar to psychic augntations, it could similarly further liberate his strength.

The palace maids bringing the imperial als watched the teor streaking toward the sky, montarily uncertain.

His Majesty has run off again—should we still deliver these imperial als?

"What are you standing around for?" Long Yunshui floated over, grabbing two pastries she found quite good, speaking while chewing: "Deliver them to the Hall of Diligent Governance. His Majesty will handle them."

Long Yunshui blinked her eyes, irresponsibly guessing: "Your killing intent has erged, but you don't want to admit how terribly wicked you are?"

One palace maid gathered courage to ask: "Dragon Lady, doesn't His Majesty need to eat?"

Long Yunshui said blankly: "Does he need to eat?"

Do humans not need to eat? Oh, right, after all, this is the Divine Martial Emperor...

The palace maids arranged the imperial als properly and left as usual.

His Majesty might not eat the imperial als, but rules must always be followed.

Watching the departing palace maids, a question flashed through Long Yunshui's mind: Do palace maids need to learn dragon language?

But the next instant, this doubt was overwheld by her good mood enjoying delicious food.

Maybe Mo Wen specifically arranged for dragon language speakers to serve as palace maids. Those ministers all know it too—this dynasty's humans study foreign languages much more diligently than previous generations.
